The Silence of Children has a premise that immediately caught my interest, but unfortunately the story didn’t deliver as strongly as I hoped. The pacing was inconsistent, and some sections felt overly drawn out while others rushed past important moments. This made it difficult to stay fully engaged.

The characters also lacked the depth I needed to connect with their motivations, which left the emotional stakes feeling flat. While there were glimpses of atmosphere and a few strong ideas, the execution wasn’t polished enough to carry the weight of the story.

Overall, while the concept had promise, this one didn’t quite come together for me.

wow!! this was surprisingly good!! i didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as i did!!

the plot, despite having such a serious topic, was very engaging and intriguing!! the author managed to keep the reader interested throughout the book!! although, at times, it felt like the plot was lacking something but i was enjoying it so much that i wouldn’t be able to point it out!! i mean it was really that good!!

as for the characters, Dee was likeable enough!! i’m glad that the author didn’t make her a can-solve-everything-on-her-own type of heroine!! she was just a normal girl who took help from other people yet managed to save the day!! as for Greg, i couldn’t like him 🥴 probably because i kept thinking he is a bad guy!! honestly i was surprised when he turned out to be okay!! 😬 the rest of the characters were okay too!! i’m glad Dee’s Dad was not a bad guy!! as a daughter, i wouldn’t have been able to handle that!! 🤧

the last 100 pages were the best!! felt several emotions while reading them!! then there came the ending 🫨 i really liked it!!

the book has an open ending and i checked on Goodreads, this series has 4 books so far and i’m looking forward to reading them!!

thanks to the netgalley for the copy!
