A compelling military novel and unlike anything I’ve read in the Star Wars franchise. It’s gritty, but it gives you a perspective into a war that’s often seen through a lens that glosses over the harsh realities of that war and struggle. The characters felt real, even in the sweeping galactic fantasy they find themselves in. While I didn’t get to play the tie-in game for this novel mainly because I don’t consider myself the gaming type, I appreciated the fact I was still able to connect to the game through this story. It felt like I was part of the conversation. I hope more novels like this continue to be written and published because there are aspects of the franchise I’m not able to participate in, such as gaming, but Twilight Company changed that for me.
