I admit that I loved the characters, but that I was lost as to their relationship sometimes. It was a book that stood alone, but was pat of a series. I think reading the others would help me understand the characters better. However, the book was enjoyable, at times encouraging different emotions from the reader from tragedy to joy. World War I is a time that has not been written about as much as the other wars. I liked that part of the book as well.

We are always on the lookout for more Christian Fiction books and this one brought me to tears. I could not stop reading this book the relationship between Penny and Alex is so inspiring and such a tear jerker that it made the story more enjoyable. Also, this story relates to a personal story a friend of mine shared with me years ago that was similar and every page I read reminded me of her story thinking of her. A lot of our patrons will relate to this story and find inspiration throughout it all.

We will consider adding this story to our Christian Fiction collection in our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

I throughly enjoyed this Christian historical novel written by Carrie Turansky. The setting is compelling. I felt the emotions of the people living in London under the threat of the bombings, and the frustration of those who could not return to London because of them. As in other books written by Ms. Turansky, the characters are complex and interesting. There were many characters to keep up with in this story, but I was able to easily keep track of all of them. The underlying themes of faith, hope, and love of country are supported all throughout the storyline. I highly recommend this sweet, inspirational story.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
