This is the first book I’ve read by Nadine Dorries, who is more well known as a politician, so I didn’t know quite what to expect. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how well written this beautiful story is. I was drawn into the story from the very first page as it took me on a rollercoaster ride of a journey that had me enthralled throughout. This may have been the first book I’ve read by Nadine Dorries, but it definitely won’t be my last. Just goes to show that you can’t always judge a book by the personal opinion you have of the author or their politics. A lovely, heartwarming read that I would recommend. |
The year is 1947 and 12-year-old Ruby Flynn is rescued while the rest of her family perish in a terrible storm. She placed in a convent where she is schooled and later finds work as a nursery maid. The odd thing is, there are no children, the children have all died and the real reason Ruby is hired has to do with her mother. Nadine Dorries writes these books so so well, I was griped and Ruby's story is just fascinating. It is a beautiful family saga and one that has a real mix of tragedy, love and friendship. Its amazing |
