I thoroughly enjoyed JOSHUA’S MISSION and quickly came to really care about all of the characters I was introduced to.

JOSHUA’S MISSION is the second book in the Plain and Simple Miracles series. All of the characters are struggling, one way or another. Joshua Kline convinces his brother, Alton to go on a mission with him down to Texas. Alton is in the middle of his rumspringa, and seems to be having a wonderful time with it, including seeing the inside of English jail. All his life Joshua has felt responsible for his brother, and takes a lot to heart, including arguing with Alton about his behavior.

Becca and Joshua are friends. Becca goes on the mission as well and as they are working side by side, their feelings for each other start to change. Joshua doesn’t feel as if he is good enough for the Bishop’s grand daughter, but Becca doesn’t see what the problem would be. Will her family stand by her and accept things that have happened while she was on her mission with Joshua? Hang on tight people. This will be unlike any other Amish fiction book you have read and if you are like me, you will love every minute of it! JOSHUA’S MISSION revolves around a Mennonite Disaster Service organization. I did not know there was such a thing.

JOSHUA’S MISSION really pulls at your heart strings. I was instantly caught up in the characters lives and business. It was almost as if I were sitting at the table with them and we were all friends. Becca’s friends and loved ones are all pulling for her and trying to help her adjust to her new life. It is wonderful that she has their support because she is really going to need it. JOSHUA’S MISSION is very good and contains several subjects, such as; loss, grief, substance abuse, pain, learning to forgive, commitment, eating disorders, and loyalty. Vannetta’s novels always leave me thinking about the choices I have made in my own life and how I can be a better person. I look forward to reading more of this heartfelt series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own
