I have to admit, I really didn't enjoy this book. Perhaps because, years ago when I lived in LA, I became interested in this topic and read a good deal of what was published on it.

=== The Good Stuff ===

* The book is a nice summary of the collapse of the dam, and of the types of people who were involved and devastated by the resulting flood.

* Parts of the book were very well written, mostly towards the middle of the volume. I found the beginning and ends to be somewhat less readable and more repetitive.

=== The Not-So-Good Stuff ===

* There was not as much detailed information on the causes of the collapse. Given the resulting actions of the dam's designer, and the level of devastation, I was hoping for a more detailed and technical discussion.

* The editing of the book could certainly have been tighter and crisper. There was quite a bit of repeated information and clumsy wording.

=== Summary ===

I made it through the book, but it took quite a while and it was not a rewarding experience. I can't remember the previous titles I had read, but it seems like this topic has been covered better elsewhere.
