I absolutely loved the latest installment of the Highland Spies series. There's a bit of everything for every taste - mystery, intrigue, murder, mayhem! The good news is that this is a standalone, so you don't need to read the other books in the series before you read this one. Although I definitely recommend it :-) Our heroine, Elizabeth has never been to court, and she doesn't miss this chance to go. Our hero, Ian doesn't trust anyone else to protect her at court so he assigns himself as her protector there. Elizabeth once had a crush on the hardened laird, but he doesn't feel worthy enough for her, and goes so far as to avoid visiting his best friend because she resides in his household. But after he catches a glimpse of her after so much time, he realizes that he wants her for himself. While she's at court though, she attracts two suitors, and all in the mystery and mayhem, it was a very enjoyable read. Go grab your copy! You'll love Elizabeth and Ian as much as I did :-) |

Victoria Roberts has another winner on her hands. I absolutely loved this story! This is Lady Elizabeth Walsingham and Laird Ian Munro's story. Elizabeth has loved Ian since she was 15 years old, and is now 18 years old. He has stayed away from Sutherland lands to avoid her and her sisters, Ravenna and Grace and Kat, for 3 years. He comes now because they have been summoned to England to see King James and they have learned that the womens uncle, Lord Mildmay, has died in an accident. The women and children are planning to go to visit their Aunt Mary and the men are planning to go to court. Both Ravenna and Lord Mildmay were spies for the English crown. Once they reach England, Elizabeth decides she wants to go to court with her two brothers-in-law and Laird Ian. She says that both Ravenna and Grace had been to court, and now it is her turn. Ravenna teaches her how to defend herself in the very short time they have together before leaving to see their Aunt Mary. Once they get to court, they find that the King's Privy council members are being killed. Was Lord Mildmay's death really an accident? Who is responsible for these crimes? Will Ian finally realize that he is in love with Elizabeth before she falls in love with someone at court? Please read this book to find out. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. I was not compensated in any way. My thoughts and opinions are my own. |
