Due to multiple credible reports of abuse, misogyny, and transphobia, I will not be reviewing this title. I am incredibly disappointed by the disparity between the author's public facing persona and the behavior he has exhibited toward women in the field. In my first review of Cole's work, I was enthusiastic and respectful. However, I regret association with him in even a minor way.

Part of the prequel trilogy to the Control Point books, Javeline Rain is a dark look at the military thriller, that place where mayhem and magic meet. If Control Point is Tom Clancy meets the X-Men, then this series is more like GRR Martin meets the X-Men. Yeah, it gets that dark, but the action never stops for a second.
