Unfortunately I wasn't able to go through with this. I might come back someday.
I would like to thank the publisher and netgalley for providing me a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

I think I liked the idea of this book more than its actual story. I thought the plot was really intriguing and I did enjoy the magical realism aspect of it. I however thought that the pacing was a bit too slow for me and I had a hard time connecting with the characters, which made it a bit tricky for me to fully immerse myself in the story. Moojie was a unique character and it was certainly interesting seeing the world through his eyes. Unfortunately, the story didn't quite work for me.

Unfortunately, I have added this book to my DNF pile. I stopped 30% into the book and I really couldn't get into anymore past that point. The story-line was very slow. Although creative in sense of the diverse characters, Moojie didn't bring any excitement in the book or even enthusiasm. I saw where the author was going with Moojie being a lump on a log but the build up was not enough for me to keep reading.
