Everyone should read this book, to see how dangerous chemicals (in food, water, plastics, and many other things that we are exposed to all the time) are in our bodies and our children's bodies. We need action on both the government level and at the buyer's level (since if we don't buy things that are unhealthy for us, they will stop being made even if the government allows it). I highly recommend this book!

After reading a few chapters, I decided this book held no interest for me at this time nor was it a good fit for my blog. I elected not to finish the book now, but it may well be a case of "the right book at the wrong time" syndrome and I might be willing to try it again in the future. Thank you to PENGUIN GROUP Avery and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to sample this title.

Have you ever wanted to live healthier? Reduce your footprint? If you've ever questioned the safety and cleanliness of the food, products, medicines etc in America, this book is just what you need to read. Jenkins provides accurate, shocking and moving evidence of the perils of living in a capitalist society and how that influences our food and lifestyles. Far more things are unsafe than safe and this book gives examples on how to counteract this. I'd recommend reading this book, and adopting many of Jenkins' recommendations.

This is a well-written and researched and important book about the toxins in our environment. From plastics, medications, pesticides and herbicides to toothpaste and shampoo, we are stewing in a chemical soup. The author not only tells us about the various chemicals found in our homes, drinking water, lawns, the products we buy and how they wind up in our bodies. The book has a helpful appendix with resources to help find better products to use and groups to contact. Most importantly, we need to demand legislation that will protect our environments and ourselves. I highly recommend this book.
