To Love a Wolf is the fourth book to Paige Tyler’s SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team series. This time it’s Cooper’s time to find ‘The One.’ He doesn’t believe in finding his one true mate, though, until he meets her at the bank. I couldn’t wait to find out which lucky lady was going to steal Cooper’s heart.

Female Protagonist: Everly Danu is an Artist. I consider her a damsel in distress since she gets caught up in some dangerous scenarios in this book. Don’t get me wrong, I love books that have damsels in distress, but it seems her family sees her like that, too. Her brothers and father are very protective of her. It makes me think this poor girl will never have a boyfriend. (She does put her foot down when she meets Cooper.)

Male Protagonist: Landry Cooper is a SWAT officer who is a former military. I’ve wanted his book since the last book. He’s one male character that could handle anything, especially what happened to him in the military. He’s an alpha, which is one characteristic I love in male characters in books. He’s also very charming, even when he’s having to deal with a bank robbery when he’s trying to hook up with the beautiful girl in line.

My Thoughts: First, I’m going to state that this is not my favorite in the series (so far) because I have never been a big fan of the Instant Love Trope. I prefer characters that grow together if that makes sense. I have read some books that had an instant attraction, but sometimes it was due to one of the characters falling head over heels and not both characters. It was immediate with Cooper and Everly in this book. I’m also not a fan of Everly. I couldn’t connect with her, especially after she found out the truth about Cooper. She drove me crazy with how she handled the situation with Cooper.

Here are some things I did enjoy about To Love a Wolf:

Paige Tyler’s storytelling. This book has Cooper investigating someone that is using bombs in Dallas. One of the bombs ends up killing a police officer. He has to find out if there will be more bombs and if the bomber has a target.
Landry Cooper. I pretty much go over what I love about Cooper in the Male Protagonist section of the review. I fell for him before his book. Paige knows how to write alpha male characters.
I love werewolves and shapeshifters, and this book includes one of my favorite paranormal creatures. 🙂
Steaminess: Some steam.

Standalone/Part of Series: Part of series, but each can be read as standalone.

HEA: Yes.

Trope: Fated Mates, Instant Love/Attraction

Would I recommend this book? Yes. I recommend this book if you love the Paranormal Romance genre and love the Fated Mates and/or Instant Love Tropes. Overall, this book receives 3.5 stars from me. This book may not be a favorite, but other readers may enjoy it. I still love me some Cooper, though. 🙂 Actually, I love all the sexy werewolves in SWAT. Thanks to Paige Tyler for writing this series and feeding my addiction to werewolves. 🙂

Following the series from its beginning, it was undeniable that I would continue reading about the SWAT alpha werewolves and their adventures. Especially this installment, since it told Cooper's story.

I've been intrigued by Cooper from the very beginning. He seemed easy-going and the turn-to person the SWAT team members went to when they needed advice. He was direct and wasted no time sugar coating his words, so the idea of seeing him confronted with THE ONE for him made me giddy.

The beginning of the story certainly held my attention and as Cooper mets Everly I was definitely looking forward to how the author would go about bringing these two together successfully. However, everything started going downhill real fast as the story progressed and I got to know Everly.

I don't know what the author was thinking, but Everly's personality didn't gel with my picture of Copper's THE ONE. I can't pin point what I found so annoying about her, but I didn't like her. It didn't help any that their encounters and ongoing scenes felt familiar from previous books. I guess that's something most people don't notice, maybe? But since I usually re-read the books in the series before picking up the next installment, the description of the sex scenes and some of the dialog/statements seemed repetitive. I don't know, maybe it's just me but it annoyed me.

I've always enjoyed the author's ability to weave the intrigue along the romance in a way that moved the story along. However, I figured out early on who the bad guy was. I think that because the romance failed to gain my attention I focused more on the plot so it was easy to figure out who was behind all the bombings. Once that happened, the story ceased to hold appeal to me. I became less and less invested in the outcome of the story, but stuck around only to see if I could learn anything new regarding the SWAT guys and the world the author had created.

The saving grace came when the author brought up the element of the hunters. I enjoyed learning a bit of Everly's family back-story and the introduction of a new enemy into the mix. However, I didn't care much for Cooper's way of dealing with the situation. I found it incredibly stupid that he kept most of his pack mates in the dark about what was happening since it affected them too.

Add to this the fact that I felt that the resolution of the plot was too rushed for everything to tie-in and my interest in the outcome of the story as a whole was lost. In the end, Cooper had his HEA and Everly's brothers seemed to become a part of the SWAT family.

I'm intrigued to see what the author comes up with from here on out. I'm hoping the next book's romance plays out differently and the world continues to expand.

I've enjoyed reading Paige Tyler's SWAT series and To Love a Wolf is another happy read for me. I enjoyed reading the book and didn't find it boring. Our two main characters met during a high tension scene and I find that Ms Tyler wrote this pretty well. As with his team mates Landry is a werewolf and upon meeting Everly, he wondered if she is The One. He saved her life during a robbery and I enjoyed reading on how their relationship grew. Highly recommend!

I enjoyed this book. It pulled you right in and kept you turning the pages. This book was well written and I had no issues following the story. It tied into the other books in the series well.

Great hero. Mostly interesting background thrilling plot. Decent-ish heroine. This time it was her backstory that added to the werewolf folklore/new info.. even if she didn't know it at the time. But it was mostly the same ol' cheese as before -- and I mean that literally. Sometimes I see almost the same passages or exchanges, almost word for word, despite the change-up in couples.

I was hoping for Cooper's story after finishing the 3rd book in the series. I liked the element Tyler threw in with Everly's family knowing about werewolves. I hope more about this comes to light about people hunting werewolves. I also like the mythology of these wolves. Similar to the ones in Vampire Dairies (they have to kill someone for their werewolf gene to kick in). Humans have a werewolf gene and when something happens to them bring them close to death they "turn".

Wow, this one really ramped things up. Lots of family drama, hot romance, and plenty of action made for a wild ride. "To Love A Wolf" wasn't great but it was a decent read.

One of my least favorite things about this series is the insta-lust and insta-love. They happen in about a week and are hard to swallow. And yet, sometimes I find myself fussing at the heroine to just stop fighting the pull and accept it. I want the happy ending even when it's unlikely. Cooper and Everly had a major complication with her family and their hatred for werewolves. Talk about a star-crossed romance! And it started with a bang as they met during a bank robbery. Yeah, lots of crazysauce happening in this book. But I was sitting there, cheering on Cooper and Everly.

Cooper and Everly had a lot of heat between them, and shared some scorching sexy times. They were good together and believable as a couple. Cooper was cocky and charming, and Everly was determined and kind. Everly's family though, yikes. I didn't like them at first, it took a while to warm up to them. Maybe I'll like them more in future books. Yah, it's a shock to discover werewolves are real but that doesn't mean kill them all on sight! First find out if they are dangerous to you, of they're good or not, and then if they're a threat go wild with the killing.

"To Love A Wolf" was a hot romance filled with angst, heat, drama, and action. The dynamics among the team are wonderful and one of my favorite things about this series. Add in the intriguing world building, and "To Love A Wolf" was a good addition to the SWAT team.

I love Paige Tyler's Swat Series, and this one is up there at the top. As always her main characters our strong and at times hardheaded and confused, but fate always wins out. Landry has been through hell and back as a member of the Armies Explosive Ordinance Disposal unit. Now working with the Swat team he is as fearless as ever, but when it comes to love, well lets just say he doesn't believe in the "there's just ONE for him". That is until he meets Everly, and what a first meeting it is. They both feel this "thing" between them, but then the unthinkable happens. Yep, family; the family wants him away from her and not just for a while, but forever. Not only is there trouble with family, but it seems his past is coming back to haunt him. I try not to do spoilers, so that's it for me. Hope it's enough to show you that this story is full Swat's usual action, thrills, deadly secrets and hope for love. If you love action packed paranormal adventure and romance do not pass this one up.
