After feeling sort of meh about the first book in this series, I decided to give the author another chance and see if I liked this one any better. This one was an improvement because I really enjoyed the child character, but I still found it kind of boring and predictable. The male main character was frustratingly one-dimensional in his refusal to let people help him. The female main character was too perfect until she wasn't and made a couple of inexplicably bizarre bad decisions at random moments throughout the story, presumably to keep it going. Then there was an overreaction to the small problem that was the conflict in this story. And then it all worked out. I've decided this author isn't for me and won't be finishing the series.

An emotionally moving heartbreaking story that makes you want to reach into the book and hold both Mike and John to let them know that they will be ok. Rachel finds a picnic basket in the attic which belongs to her Mamm which has a very touching story behind it. She fixes meals for Mike and his younger brother John who lost their Mamm and who’s Daed has kidney disease. Mike is overwhelmed trying to take care of everybody and everything. With Rachel’s persistence and delicious Mike eventually excepts her help.

This is a story that is very personal to the author and I for one, think for that reason, The Courtship Basket, is the most outstanding story I have read of Amy’s.

I received a complimentary copy (or ARC) of this book from the author via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to write a review, and all options expressed in this review are completely my own.

This was a fantastic book. I couldn't put it down. This is the 2nd book in the series. But you do not need to read them in order to know what is happening in the story.

Rachel has her heart broken by the man she expects to marry and her best friend.
Mike is busy taking care of his ill father and his 6 year old brother.
Neither one has time or wants a new relationship, but everything happens in Gods time.

The book will make you laugh and cry.
