I love Torben Kuhlmann's books so much! Armstrong tells the tale of the first Mouse to set foot on the moon - before even humans made it up there. While fun and fantastical, he brilliantly interweaves the true story of the space race, and includes forward and postlude information on the true historical figures that contributed to the knowledge that the little Mouse learns through his adventures (my favorite parts were when he snuck into libraries and university classrooms to learn!). I enjoyed the Mouse's scientific process, and that it showed his failures and his successes in his quest - such good messages for young readers! Then there are the detailed illustrations - many full double page spreads - which are simply gorgeous!

These illustrations are beautiful, and capture the mystery and adventure of a moon trip. For a young reader, it does a wonderful job of demonstrating the value of continuing with an endeavor even in the absence of support from peers -- a valuable lesson! It might not hold the attention of older readers quite as well, but it is definitely excellent for the younger student.

Amazing artwork, but okay story. Both of my children read through this within a matter of minutes, and although they enjoyed reading it and looking at the pictures, I believe they were both too old for this book, and it really didn't excite them much. But, the artwork is wonderful and I think it would be a good book for a younger child. We were also reading a digital copy, so I am sure the hardback book would have been even better.

Cute and adorable book. Perfect for someone who likes space travel, specifically maybe younger aged.

Armstrong by Torrmstrong: The Adventurous Journey of a Mouse to the Moon by Torben Kuhlmann was a beautifully illustrated children's book that will be great for children as an introduction to space travel, or just a fun story featuring a cleaver and determined mouse who would not give up on his dreams. The book, with the amazing illustrations, will be great read to a group of children by an adult, or read independently for children who have been reading on their own for a while.

I am well past childhood, but I was completely sucked in by the beautiful illustrations. Many children love learning about space travel and this book with the combination of space and a great little mouse character is completely captivating. There is also factual information about human space travel at the end of the book.

I love that the clever little mouse is determined to follow through with his dreams even though his peers do not offer him any support, just as many humans throughout history done. The best way for children to learn is often through a creative story that they truly enjoy. I was given this book free for the purpose of providing an honest review.
