Beautiful writing and observations, but the plot was treacle-slow. At one point I skipped about 30 pages on to see if anything was happening, and nothing seemed to have moved forward in those 30 pages. Perhaps I'm just not in the mood for a slow-moving, intimate, interior sort of book at the moment – it's certainly not badly written, and if you feel like something inward-looking and unhurried, this is certainly a good choice. It wasn't for me though.
