So I honestly don't remember what drew me in besides the cover and sometimes that works for me, unfortunately this time it didn't. I can't give you a full review of reasons either it was simply that the story did not excite me enough to get past the whole book, I loved the premise. Dragons incorporated into a story is good for me but when it's done well.

I really wanted to love this book, and parts of it were great (like Temeraire and Iskierka scheming about saving their egg), but other parts were so long and drawn out and ultimately had no point (like the duel and the stay at the farmhouse). About 80% of the book went by without anything really happening, and then sure enough, the ending felt rushed and I didn't get the closure I wanted [ (like a fight between Tem and his sister and Poole getting what he deserved). That being said, I still love Temeraire and always will recommend this series.

I also wish that we got more of a goodbye with some of the characters like Iskierka and Granby and Emily/Demaine.

PS - the guy that reads this series for the audiobooks is fantastic. It's the only time where I have gone out of my way to listen to a book versus reading one.

I finally managed to get to this book after pushing through the rest of the series. I struggled with this series as a whole, there is nothing particularly bad about it other than I just didn't find it captivating. The books felt like they were slipping a bit on the back third, but thankfully League of Dragons was a great book to end on. I am glad Novik could finish it with a strong entry.

I meant to save League of Dragons by Naomi Novik, the last Temeraire book, for vacation, but couldn’t wait. I found it a satisfying end to the series; I will miss these characters.
