I love reading about books and I love reading about writing. Most frantic readers, like myself, hold secret dreams of becoming an author as well, which is part of the reason why we love sinking away into fiction every day. We also find ourselves reading a lot of books on writing, on how to create interesting plots, and how to build "real" characters. However, often these books are deadly boring. Thankfully that isn't the case with Lisa Cron's 'Story Genius', which I highly enjoyed.

Her writing is to the point and clear, but also enjoyable and informative. Cron addresses thw cliches of writing a novel from a different and new angle, setting it apart from most of the self-help books about writing that just rehash the same advice but in a different font. Although the subtitle referring to 'brain science' felt a little bit deceptive, Cron definitely attacks writing from a different and new angle.

I liked the basic premise that our brains are wired for stories. It is a useful tool for aspiring writers and people who teach writing but be warned: It can feel repetitive at times.
