SPURRED ON is the third full-length book in Sabrina York's Stripped Down series. Reading the previous books in this series is not a necessity in order to enjoy this book, because Cody and Sidney's story is told with past events merged into it. Sabrina York usually writes stories about deliciously sexy strong heroes, but I was not initially excited to read Cody's story. Cody was never one of my favorite supporting characters in previous books, and I'm not wild about heroes who have a reputation for leaving a string of broken hearts behind them. These doubts about Cody made me empathize with the heroine, since she has reason to think the worst of him. In spite of these misgivings, Sabrina York makes Cody easier to understand and more sympathetic as she tells part of SPURRED ON from his point of view.

Cody Silver and Sidney Stevens have a long and tangled history, and in SPURRED ON fate keeps throwing them together and getting explosive results. This is a perfect example of when it is crucial to tell a story from alternating points of view. Cody and Sidney would have gotten together and been happier sooner, if they had communicated more. A big part of this story is about Sidney's struggle to get past the strong emotions she has for Cody -- both good and bad, and Cody's efforts to get Sidney to see him in a new light. I like the gender role reversal that Sabrina York has in SPURRED ON. I've read quite a few stories about female characters having to overcome negative, and often misconstrued or blatantly false, perceptions that people have about them. In SPURRED ON, Cody is a man often judged for his encounters with women -- whether actual ones or imagined. It's sadly ironic how Cody daydreams about the exact same kind of family life that Sidney does, but people assume that he's sweet but too shallow to have those kind of dreams about settling down.

The well-developed characters and their interconnected relationships, as well as the steam generated by Cody and Sidney are the highlights in SPURRED ON. Sabrina York knows how to create chemistry between two characters, and Cody and Sidney succeed at seduction -- when they're not driving each other crazy. The humor that the other characters add, balance out the ferocity that Cody and Sidney's relationship brings to SPURRED ON.

SPURRED ON is an intense, character-driven romance with some cowboy hotties thrown in. The supporting characters in SPURRED ON add to the story without detracting from the central romance. The epilogue in SPURRED ON is great for fans of the series because it details how favorite characters are doing years into the future. I look forward to reading Sabrina York's next romance -- whether it be about cowboys, highlanders, or any other type of hottie hero.

When Cody Silver the owner of The Double S Ranch has an opportunity to rekindle his High School crush with Sidney Stevens he jumps at the chance. Sidney Stevens has always regretted her one night with Cody and has made it her life's goal to avoid him, that is until he is her last resort at insuring her sister Hanna's happiness. This mission triggers a stampede of events filling the pages with feelings ranging from regret to hope ultimately resulting in one big happy ending.

Nothing screams romance like when the one who you thought got away did not really get away and Spurred On is all about winning back the past. Sabrina York does not just throw in a couple of ha ha's but is full on funny spreading laughs among the real life problems that keep popping up in the third installment of her Stripped Down series. A struggle with trust hampers a straight course to love in this work. This author does a fine job at bringing out her lovers insecurities and trust issues in a believable and resolvable manner. A series with a strong foundation and a genuine and likable cast Spurred On adds another seductive Texan to Ms. York's list of love conquered cowboys.

4.5 Stars Spurred on is the third book in the Stripped Down series.

I have been anxiously awaiting Cody’s book to find the woman strong enough to tame him and I can tell you it was worth the wait because in walked Sidney. I just loved this book, both the primary character interaction and all the other characters come together to give a fabulous addition to this series.

If you love a great cowboy series do yourself a favor and grab the Stripped Down series you will love it.

3.75 stars--SPURRED ON is the third (and final?) full length installment in Sabrina York’s contemporary, adult STRIPPED DOWN cowboy, romance series focusing on the men and women of the Double S Ranch –the Silver’s family owned ranch that doubles as a ‘party house’ or ‘stud ranch’ for private parties. This is Double S Ranch owner Cody Silver, and Sidney Stevens’s story line. SPURRED ON can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines are revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Sidney and Cody) SPURRED ON focuses on the rekindling/second chance romance between Double S Ranch owner Cody Silver, and the woman that calls to his heart Sidney Stevens. Ten years earlier Cody made the biggest mistake of his life following a one-night stand with Sidney Stevens wherein he walked away and into the arms of another woman. Fast forward to present day when Sidney schedules her sister’s bachelorette party at the Double S Ranch rekindling the romance between herself and Cody Silver. Sidney’s hatred for Cody is tempered by their attraction and palpable sexual energy only to be doused over and over as jealousy, miscommunication and fear are constantly getting in the way.

The relationship between Cody and Sidney is tempestuous at best. Sidney despises Cody, and has a difficult time separating her hatred and the lust for a man that calls to her heart. Cody knows he screwed up and tries desperately to explain the circumstances and what happened years before but Sidney is unwilling to let go of the past adding more pain and heartbreak to the tentative romance. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive.

All of the previous story line couples play secondary and supporting roles. Sidney’s sister Hannah struggles in her current relationship, and takes the opportunity to rekindle a love from her past-as well. The back and forth banter between all of the characters is fun adding a humorous element to the story line premise. The epilogue fast forwards the series by several years where we get a glimpse into the future and the ever expanding families.

SPURRED ON is a story of love, romance, family and friendships. The premise is energetic; the characters are passionate; the romance struggles with one woman’s inability to let go of the past.

When I first started reading Spurred On, I laughed and thought this was really going to be one of those books where I did nothing but giggle and have a good time reading it. But, unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. I truly enjoyed the story until Sidney got on my last nerve.

Granted, overall, this was a good book. I enjoyed reading all the escapades that they all went through and the cowboy strippers were fun. But, Sidney … dear lord, it’s one thing to have your feelings hurt and another to be a downright Bitch. 10 years is a long time to hold a grudge and she just wouldn’t let it go. She was one of the most untrusting, snarky women I have ever read and, the longer it went on, the more I didn’t like her and wished Cody would just move on. But, the heart wants who it wants and, bless his soul, he wouldn’t give up.

Cody tried everything from friendship to seduction and he just couldn’t break the wall that Sidney put up. He was hot, then romantic, sweet and seductive. He was there for her when her father took ill. He tried to explain what happened in high school but she just wouldn’t listen. Then, just when he thinks they may have a chance, something else happens and she just wouldn’t listen or believe anything that he said. She thought he was a man whore and, even with her friends telling her different, she wouldn’t budge. He started to wonder if she was right.

I get it, I really do. When your heart is broken, it takes a lot to let the person who broke it back in. That makes total sense. But, when that person does nothing but try to prove himself time and time again and you just brush it off and keep holding your grudge, you deserve what you get out of life. There’s a time to be bitter and a time to let it go and move forward. It took a hell of a lot, a little trickery and a wedding to get her to see the light and give in to her heart’s desires.

Sabrina York had a fresh and innovative idea for this story. A B&B that catered to woman with cowboy strippers for those special parties. Cody was just what every man should be. But, in my opinion, she really went overboard with Sidney. There were so many under-characters that I was getting a little confused as to who was who and who was with who. I got Hanna (Sidney’s sister) and Cade and Claire (Cody’s siblings) but then it went off the charts for me when Logan’s family and other friends got involved. But, I enjoyed the premise and greatly appreciate the writing style of Sabrina York. If it wasn’t for that one little thing, this would have been a 5 Star review but, I just couldn’t ignore Sidney’s actions. So, interesting, fun and original are words that aptly describe Spurred On.

I was interested by hearing the title name and was excited to read the story, and while it was a nice story, it fell a little short for me. The chemistry between Sidney and Cody is strong but dissolved to quickly for me. Sidney is the ex lover scorned by Cody, which now he sees the error of his ways and he wants her back and, no surprise she is not ready. Sidney character was too much back and forth for my taste, she wanted him, she hated him, which I know can be some women but I don’t think all women do this? Cody seemed very easily diverted. Like I said when the romance was there it was good but Sidney was too much hot and cold. There were a lot of other characters that had a lot going on and maybe they will have their own books, but it was a bit much. All in all it was not my cup of tea .

Since the introduction of the Double S Ranch, I’ve wanted Cody’s story –and watch him as besotted as the others who have found love, in rather unconventional ways, in this series. He’s got that whole “it’s not for me” vibe working when it comes to relationships, and believes that love is not, and never would be, for him. Cody is just about everything that you would hope for: finding a way to support what he loves with something that, while not his first choice, fits on his ranch, and allows him to make some much needed cash. And, with having the ‘hen party weekends’ full of women looking to fill cowboy fantasies, and plenty of options, he’s managed to scratch the itch without getting too close to anyone.

But, this book makes a couple of turns to get us to the REALLY good stuff. First, the timeframe of Cody and Sidney’s story closely follows the first book (Stripped Down), in which Logan and Hanna found their moment. And we are jumping back to the planning of the bachelorette party that was the main event. See, Hanna’s party was planned by her sister, Sidney, and when she appears at Cody’s ranch to finalize the details, Cody is thrown back to the last time he saw her, and the damage she did to him when she left him.

And oh the tension between these two is strong: poor Sidney realizing she’s still angry with Cody, and that perhaps, maybe, oh, okay, she does still care and he’s grown up to be one heck of a specimen. And, yes, she knows the reputation that follows him, with discarded conquests scattered across the stableyard like old straw. But, she really never was able to forget him. And, he will be key to her showing Hanna just how wrong her upcoming marriage is. Poor Cody, never quite sure what hit him, when he realizes that he never forgot or stopped wanting Sidney, but he’s got to find a way to show her…..

Heart, heat, humor all mix together to bring the story to light. Cody and Sidney who, despite their inability to just say what they mean at first, are truly adorable, and even as everyone seems to be embroiled in ‘something’ else, they manage to take center stage. Bringing the whole series together with opportunities to see (again) characters and couples from earlier books, fixes these friends and lovers in your heart, and on your shelf. York’s ability to keep a lightness and balance in her tales, even when real issues and concerns arise make for wonderful and engaging moments, peppered with unforgettable dialogue, laugh out loud moments and plenty of steam.

I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Based on the epilogue, I'm guessing Spurred On is going to be the last of the Stripped Down novels and that's certainly a shame. I've loved every word of this series. The three prequels partnered with the three full-length novels have been a joy to read.

Although the premise of the books initially drew me to the series, the characters set the books apart. And of all the characters featured in Stripped Down, I certainly couldn't wait for Cody to meet his match. In Spurred On Sidney's personality and relationship with Cody not only met my expectations, they exceeded them. Cody and Sidney's journey was emotional, sweet and sexy all at the same time. This second-chance romance focused on redemption. Cody needed to not only atone for his previous sins but he also had a reputation to discredit/overcome. Now I'm not generally a fan of playboy romances, but York did a great job of focusing on Cody's cowboy/business man image rather than his past sexual encounters. This book is a must-read in my book!

Somewhere near Fort Worth is a ranch with something special ... male strippers. Not just any kind but some well toned good-ol' boys that will make hearts beat a little faster. OK so that place exists only in the imagination and written words of author Sabrina York, but it is so much fun imaging such a place.

In this offering of the Double S. Ranch, Cody Silver has been trying hard to figure out how to get his high school girl, Sidney Stevens back into his life. She comes to him but not to get back together, she wants him to do her a favor. Help break up her sister's engagement.

Sidney isn't about to let herself forgive or forget how he broke up with her but if anyone can help her it's the man who has slept his way through the whole town. It is fortunate that love and fate have a way of changing even the strongest will.

SPURRED ON will have you spun around this way and that and then spin you a little more with the personalities and steamy situations. I have to admit that at times I wasn't sure I liked either one of them as they kept going back and forth and leading me on an emotional roller coaster, and I am not overly fond of those rides. One minute they are friends and working on trust issues and the next she is storming out angry over something he did, or in a couple of cases, didn't do. I did understand her issues and would have willingly kicked him for her. Guess you can say this whole storyline is a ride that only Sabrina York could come up with.

For those who have read the previous “Stripped Down” books you will realize that this one is taking place at the same time as the others only from a different point of view. For those who haven't read this series ... why not? If you like hot men, women who know their own minds (most of the time), steamy action and great tension then SPURRED ON is exactly what you are looking for.

I had to stop reading Spurred On at 19%. As I was reading, I kept coming across words that, to me, didn't quite fit into the feel of a "cowboy" or "ranch" romance. Usually in a romance, especially with dual POV, you read the protagonist's "voices". I couldn't imagine these 20-something year old adults living in the Dallas area using words like "inveigle", "conscribe", "moue" (would readers even know how to pronounce that?), and "bilious". What was even more confusing, in Sidney's POV, she states that Cody "...affected a patronizing moue." and 2 paragraphs down, she calls him a "diploid". That inconsistency continues when Sidney talks about man farts and grabbing the "nozzle" of man she never met. This is all before 19% in the book.

The final nail in the coffin for me? An orgasm described as "neared her crisis". Eeek.
