E. J. Bastien is not out to her family, but that doesn’t stop her from a steady stream of attractive women warming her bed, even if it is for only one night. When she meets Jinx Tanner in a bar two days before her son’s wedding, sparks fly, and they have a great night. Some awkwardness ensues when they both turn up at the same wedding. Jinx Tanner is an ex-con and has never met her niece, who is marrying E.J.’s son. E.J. has a strict one night policy, but she can’t seem to resist Jinx. They tentatively build something akin to a relationship, but Jinx’s past, and E.J. closetedness may drive a wedge too big between them.

I sat on this one for a while and found it when I was cleaning out old files on my Kindle. Not sure why I didn’t read it before, but once I started this time, I powered through pretty quickly. The first 30% or so, I couldn’t put down. I’ll admit at about 40%, I wasn’t sure there was enough plot left for over half the book, but Levig did not disappoint. Not only was there enough plot, but certain issues don’t come full circle until the very end, leaving no room for unimportant filler.

I liked the characters and I liked the tension. The back and forth got a little tiring, but not overly so. There were plenty of family relationships and old wounds to work through, which gave each lady a chance to grow as they attempt to grow together. Some cool side characters rounded out the story nicely, and it’s a nice, pretty quick read.

Jinx who just recently has gotten out of prison is trying to get her life on the right track. She meets EJ a successful business woman that's dealing with keeping her family in the dark about her sexual orientation. Jinx and EJ meet then sparks fly. Things get complicated when they see each other again.

I really enjoyed learning more about Jinx she owned up to her mistakes and tried to make a better life for herself. It was also interesting to see how EJ and Jinx dealt with the problems that came up since they were so different.

I would definitely recommend this book and I'm looking forward to reading something else by Jeannie Levig.
