After reading The Wedding Date by Kelly Eadon I just knew I wanted to read more of the Belmont Beach series. The Family Man happened to come to me at the right time when I was unsure what kind of book I wanted to dive into and I have to say I loved The Family Man. It was sweet, funny and heartwarming and I loved seeing this single dad’s perspective on dating and working while trying to raise his little girl.



Beth Beverley made some bad business mistakes in the past but she has finally found something that she is good at and it seems that her baked goods are in demand. Baking isn’t the only thing Beth is doing; she is also teaching theater for the kids in the community and sewing, in other words she is a woman of many talents. Beth has been selling her fabulous treats to coffee shop owner, Griffin Hall for some time and crushing on him just as hard but she is about to find out that she isn’t the only woman in his life.



Griffin Hall started his coffee shop and left his musical past behind to raise his little girl and give her the stability she needs. He hasn’t dated much but he looks forward to seeing Beth weekly when she delivers her muffins to him. Once Griffin learns that his feelings aren’t one sided he decides to go all in with Beth and get a chance to know her. But he comes with some baggage and while he hasn’t lied to Beth he just hasn’t dished all the dirty details of his past. When the past comes knocking at his door Griffin hopes Beth will understand or will it be too much for them both to handle?



Beth and Griffin were the ideal romantic couple, sure they had their differences but I really liked how they just meshed together. Beth was fun and dabbled in a few different things but she was never flighty or boring. I love that Ms. Eadon wrote Griffin as a single father because I have such a soft spot for single parent romances. I understood his struggles in wanting to be a good father and always be there for his daughter yet needing grown up time with Beth. Both characters were well written and really likable.



The romance was slow building and really made it seem real and believable from the start. The Family Man had just the right amount of humor and just enough conflict that kept me turning the pages. The love scenes weren’t over the top but were done tastefully and I enjoyed how the story wasn’t focused on them as much. They did show how their new found relationship was progressing and how much Griffin and Beth did care for one another.



The Family Man is a witty and adorable read that captured my attention from the beginning. Ms. Eadon’s voice is new and her story telling is flawless. The Family Man has a cast of characters that will make you laugh and fill your heart with plenty of joy. Ms. Eadon is an author to be on the lookout for future books and I for one can’t wait to read the next story in this funny and heartwarming series.

In this book we get another book in the same universe as “The Wedding Date”, but you certainly can read this one as a standalone without any problem. Beth is completely unique and I love her passion for everything in life. She has the most contagious enthusiasm even if you’re just reading about her! I wish we had gotten a little more of a chance to get to know each of the characters before they got together…or perhaps a little more of the early dating? They seemed to fall into each other pretty quickly, but that is only a minor observation.

Eadon does a great job articulating the complications that are involved when dating with a munchkin in the picture and it’s good see them each making Griffin’s daughter the priority. Beth’s quirky view on life had me uplifted my whole day and inspired to tackle a few new projects. I’d definitely recommend it for a quick and fun read!
