This collection contains two novelettes: "Love's Story" by Dianne Christner and "Strong as the Redwood" by Kristin Billerbeck.

I find both if the novelettes being quite sweet, simple historical readings. "Love's Story" is quite funny descriptions of the female journalist's adventures in the logger camp. "Strong as the Redwood" has more serious topic of a hurt heart's rebellion against God - young Rachel is sent away from home to be independent, only to be met with malicious rumours at her new settings.

I think that both of the authoresses are more than capable of a much complex stories - the first story is quite naive, the second story is somehow limited by the strictness if the hearts even of the most noble characters. The male characters are one-dimensional, too.

But there is a certain sweetness present, which adds to the reading experience.

What a fun book for a delightful afternoon or evening of enjoyment. Readers will find this especially sweet book and bonus short story. Grab a cup of hot tea, embrace the fragrance and sit back for a time of peace and quiet. Readers who delight in love stories will not be disappointed. I really like historical fiction and this is filled with accurate details that make you feel as if you are right there in the forest, gazing up at the redwoods in 1899.
I am rating this book 4 stars and give it high recommendations.

Christner is not a well-known author by the general reading public. She is truly a hidden gem when it comes to discovering her books.
