A woman is found washed ashore on the beach with no memory of who she is or how she got there. As she talks with family and friends, she tries to put together the pieces of what happened and start afresh, but with her memory not returning, she’s not sure who is telling her the truth and who she can trust.

This was an exciting, fast-paced book with a twisty ending. I read it all in a couple of hours while holding a sleeping baby because it was hard to put down. I’ve always been intrigued by mysteries involving amnesia. I thought I had figured out the twist once, but it turned out to be wrong. Then I thought I had figured it out again, but I was only partially right. I did not see the ending coming. However, it was not a particularly satisfying ending for me. It also had more bad language than I would have liked, but I was already in too deep by the time it started popping up more frequently and so I had to find out what happened. Those two reasons bumped it from a 3.5 to a 3.

This story has potential to be a solid and enjoyable read, however, the writing becomes very muddled and things just do not make sense. It does not help that the characters are not well developed or fleshed out and feel unrealistic. The story is very forgettable, overly predictable, flatlined, implausible, and illogical.

This was a quick read and hard to put down. I could not wait to find the answers to Mia’a mystery. I would like to read more of this author’s work.
Many thanks to Adrenalin Books and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

DNF'd this book and at this time I do not plan to ever continue or finish the book as I requested and began the book in four years ago.

"Washed up on the beach, she can’t remember who she is. She can’t even remember her name. Turns out, she has an idyllic life – friends and family eager to fill in the blanks.

But why are they lying to her? What don’t they want her to remember?

When you don't even know who you are, how do you know who to trust?"

Not crazy about the protagonist Mia. Not a bad psychological thriller and the ending was satisfying. If you can get past the character of Mia, you will probably enjoy this book.

I enjoyed this book. There were so many twists and turns as you went from page to page. I enjoyed the overall storyline and was quite intrigued about what was to happen next when surprising things happened. I highly enjoy psychological thrillers and this was no exception!

This was a pleasant surprise of a story. I thought this was going to be a YA type book , but it turned out to be a psychological thriller. Our MC wakes in a hospital room with no memory of herself or anyone. We follow her as she slowly discovers who she is and what happened that left her half dead, waking on a beach.
This was a well done mystery, it wasn't immediately obvious who the guilty party was and I found it very interesting to learn about Mia as she was learning about herself. Gripping and kept me interested throughout. Definitely recommended to those who enjoy thrillers and mysteries. I will look for another book by this author!

I love an unreliable narrator, and what's more unreliable than a narrator who can't remember a single thing that happened before the first page of the book? Needless to say, I was intrigued. While Mia's life at first seems simple (boyfriend, family, hobbies), as the layers get peeled back I was drawn more and more into her world, needing to uncover the mystery.

Some twists surprised me more than others, but all in all, it was a fun psychological thriller that kept me entertained for my entire flight! If you like slow and bendy tales with an eerie aftertaste, I think you'll enjoy this :)

Thanks to the publisher/Netgalley for giving me a free copy in exchange for an honest review!

Who do you trust when you remember nothing? This book is gripping and terrifying, what would you do in this situation? I haven't a clue but all I know is it makes for a thrill ride of a read, one where nothing is as it seems.

This is a really good psychological thriller, you know the type where you are swept along into the novel lots of suspense, intrigue and unknown elements but not a lot of details to tell friends about when discussing your latest read. The novel builds and builds to a heart thumping finale. Excellent fast moving read with some very good characters and an intriguing plot. I just love this kind of novels, thanks for the copy!

The Girl from the Sea is a book that is a little outside my usual genres, but a book I enjoyed nonetheless. It was interesting seeing the book through the present tense. There was no omnipresent narrator who was telling us the story; rather it was our protagonist and amnesiac Mia who was telling the story as it was happening. I was kept on my toes the entire time and had a good time reading it. I gave it four stars just because thrillers aren't really my thing, but I still enjoyed the book very much.

Thank you, NetGalley for the online copy!

I enjoyed this story very much. I listened to it on audio and at seven hours, I listened to it off and on over a day and a bit. The story seemed a bit familiar, woman washes up on a beach and has amnesia. Her boyfriend shows up at the hospital and claims her. She heads home trying to piece her life back together but this "new woman" doesn't feel comfortable in this life. Does she dump her boyfriend? Does she go after Jack from the rowing club? How did she end up in the sea?

The story may have familiar themes, but the actual storyline had some very different twists and turns to it. As the story unwinds you think you know what happened, then boom, another clue is revealed to take you in a different direction. The story is tied up nicely even though not what I expected, and I was happy with the ending. My opinions of the characters in this story was constantly changing from pity, hatred, understanding, hatred and so on. I will be reading more by this author.

I started this book in the middle of the night and finished early this morning.

It is such an outstanding mystery I could not put it down. Thrilling dramatic and wonderful I was completely absorbed.

Mia has been washed up on a beach with no memory. Reading about her recovery was gripping and as the mystery unfolded I was quite uncertain as to how this book would end.

Lots of twists and one amazing tale Shalini Boland is a brilliant storyteller.

She comes to on a beach. How did she get there? What happened to her? When paramedics arrive she can't answer anyone's questions. She doesn't know her name. She doesn't know where she lives. Maybe the injury to the back of her head is causing the memory loss.

While in the hospital, her boyfriend shows up.. at least that's what he says. And he does have pictures of them together. He says her name is Mia.

But the boyfriend may not be her boyfriend. She feels absolutely no connection to him at all. She does feel a little something for Jack, a man she has met before, but has no memory of. And he is married.

She's contacted by her mother and sister .. but something is a bit off kilter there, as well.

Why does she feel that everyone is lying to her? What are they hiding?

When you don't even know who you are, how do you know who to trust?

This is an excellent psychological thriller. The suspense starts on the first page and holds fast until the very last explosive ending.... an ending I never saw coming.

The characters are credible and they all have issues. Mia's issue is her obvious loss of memory, but she seems changed from the 'old' Mia. The boyfriend gave me the willies .. he seemed awfully controlling and manipulating. Jack is almost too good to be true. Her mother and sister were greedy people who only were after her money.

Plenty of suspects .. lots of motivation for murder..but who really wanted her dead?

Many thanks to the author / Adrenalin Books / Netgalley for the digital copy of this highly suspenseful thriller. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

I'm a sucker for a good mystery and this book did not disappoint! It took me a little time to get into the book, but once I was finally hooked I couldn't stop reading. The story is intriguing and suspenseful with a decent pacing and plot. Would I really compare it to Gone Girl or The Girl on the Train? Probably not. But it's definitely worth reading!
