Part slice of life, part detective story, Unlikely Companions details the incidents of an exotic animal vet who has to deal with the strange death of sugar gliders. I love the animal stories interspersed between the main thread, but sometimes the stories popped out too suddenly and detracts my thoughts from the sleuthing of the sugar gliders' deaths.
All in all, Unlikely Companions hits the right notes with the author dealing with her work and personal life, though one have to keep a steady mind while reading it.
