Miranda James' book, Twelve Angry Librarians, is book eight in the Cat in the Stacks Mystery series. I was happy to get back into the world of librarian Charlie and his Maine Coon cat, Diesel. Charlie's employer, Athena College, is hosting the Southern Academic Libraries Association conference. As if that were not stressful enough, one of the attendees is his least favorite person from library school. Gavin Fong seems to be everyone's least favorite person. When he is murdered, the suspect list is massive. This book is just as good as the last one in the series and easily stands on its own. Charlie, Diesel, and the other characters are charming. The mystery portion of the book was very good. A few other side plots to the mystery fit in perfectly and added to the overall story. I look forward to many more books in this series.

Another great entry in the Cat in the Stacks series! Author Miranda James puts protagonist Charlie through a lot of changes (both real and imagined) in this iteration, and it was interesting to me (a reader of the series) to learn more about Charlie's past as well as go through his decision-making process regarding the library job. I also liked the twist involving the initial murder that gets revealed at the end.

Princess Fuzzypants here:

Charlie and Diesel are back and it's always good to catch up with such good friends. This is a series that never fails to entertain. Granted I may be a bit prejudiced being a Maine Coon myself. But I don't think so.
This time, Charlie is the temporary boss of the library and he is enjoying his duties. He is contemplating applying for the job permanently but when his nemesis shows up at a librarians conference being hosted by his college. This guy is a real pain. No one likes him and he has many enemies. When her is poisoned as he is about to give a speech, no one is sorry and almost everyone is a suspect.
Charlie, of course, cannot resist investigating ably assisted by Diesel. Well maybe Diesel doesn't assist in the investigating as much as calming Charlie and everyone around him. It is a talent we Maine Coons share.
There is a lovely twist at the end that will delight the reader.
As a secondary story, Charlie is offered the job full time and he must decide whether he wants to accept or not. His quandary rings very true and it is exacerbated by a decision his daughter and son in law must make.
It is a pleasure to visit Athena and its residents. This no exception. I give this five purrs and two paws up.

If you are a librarian, know a librarian or just love libraries, this is the book for you. Step behind the scenes at a library conference and solve the murder of the most unlikable librarian you could hope to never meet.

This is the first book I've enjoyed from Miranda James, and it was truly hard to put down. Put a librarian, a Maine Coon cat, and a mystery together and it's a sure-fire recipe for an excellent read.

Charlie is tasked with hosting an annual librarian's conference, and between those demands and that of his role as interim library director, he's almost ready to pull his hair out. When antagonistic librarian Gavin Fong drops dead the second day of the conference, it's up to Charlie and Diesel to unravel the mystery and catch the culprit. Feisty Diesel is a little scene-stealer and I couldn't get enough of his antics.

Now that I've been introduced to this author and have had a taste of her style, I can't wait to start at the beginning of the Cat in the Stacks series.

What an amazing honor it was to binge read Miranda James' Twelve Angry Librarians last night. Waiting on the arrival of this one with baited breath, officially is releases on February 21st . It seems that Charlie and Diesel can not seem to keep there noses out of trouble! Boy do I love it. This was a really interesting mystery. I feel so many emotions when I read anything by Miranda James, by page 12 I was already in tears, a few chapters later filled with rage, anxiety gripped a few more chapters and then blessed with that perfectly timed mystery unravel and happy ending. Miranda James has long been a favorite author of mine and this beautifully written book is one to cherish.
