I absolutely adore this series.  I love that this series only has one book released every year or every two years.  This way it's not over done.   There is a bit of formula where you know Mercy is going to get herself in  a bit of trouble.  But that's what I love.  When I see a new Mercy book.  I know what I'm going to get and it always fits the bill. 

I absolutely adore Adam and Mercy together.   I loved how creative Mercy had to get to communicate with the pack.     I also loved how Bran made an appearance.   

This book had me hooked from beginning to end.   Even though the same supernatural communities make an appearance but this time we got to see a European coven which was different than Mercy has dealt with in the past.   

This is one of my favorite series and can't way for more from this series or the Alpha or Omega series.

I always wonder which book will be the downfall of a series, especially when they grow past 6-7 books. Yet Patricia Briggs continues to come back, book after book, and throw Mercy into one conflict after another. 

Silence Fallen was a bit different from past books. There are time jumps between Mercy and Adam's perspectives that made paying attention crucial to knowing where in the timeline each of the characters and events were. I don't dislike Adam as a character but I wasn't as interested in his perspective as Mercy's. Reader loyalty at play, maybe?

I thought it was great that we got more on the older vampire culture. Vampires have been a part of the series since book 1 but each installment brings something new to the table to keep things interesting. This book was definitely more focused on the vampires and werewolves with less fae involvement, but I didn't mind so much since I'm sure we have at least another book or two coming. 

It was a lot of fun returning to the Mercy Thompson world and my only major complaint is how repetitive the book gets when it comes to recapping past events. It's annoying for anyone who reads (or re-reads) the books back to back, and even waiting a year between releases, I wanted to skim over most of it. But that was really it! Silence Fallen was another great book in the series!

Mercy's adventure doesn't disappoint. She has to rely on herself and her coyote abilities to think on her feet to survive in an area she has never been before.

I always enjoy going back to Mercy's world, and I felt the need recently, since I am championing her in the Ultimate Alpha contest on vampirebookclub.net. This time, Mercy is kidnapped by a vampire who has designs of his own, and ends up - as she often does - causing chaos around her. Her mate, meanwhile, must ally with those he may not always trust in order to try and get her back. 

I can always count on Mercy to provide me with an entertaining read that I will struggle to put down. This, happily, was no exception to that rule.

A great addition to the rest of the series. Each book expands Mercy's world, and the characters are continuing to evolve. I enjoyed the change of location for this story, and the focus on vampires. I like the way different books in the series bounce back and forth between the relationships in the different supernatural communities. There was also a fun little twist at the end which made me smile.

I mean obviously, it's Mercy Thompson, so yeah! But more so, Mercy in Europe, and in Prague, and with a Golem and ghosts!!! Dream. Come. True.

Another amazing Mercy Thompson book! This is the tenth book in the series. The writing style has stayed mainly the same up until this book, where Patricia Briggs has incorporated Adam's point of view with his own chapters. It provides great insight into his character, and so far I'm loving the different points of view. 

Mercy does a great job at showing that even though she may be married to Adam now, and have the support of the pack, she can still handle herself in any situation. Even though at times she doesn't understand her own abilities, she always trusts her gut and comes out on top because of it. 

Even though Mercy is still healing from every major adventure, she never lets it slow her down. 

I love this series so much!

I must say that Patricia Briggs is my favorite fantasy author. With that out of the way, Mercy is as kick-ass as always and we get to see her on her own far away from all that she loves and still being the self-sufficient leading lady that we know and love!

So so good!  I thoroughly enjoyed this addition to the Mercy Thompson series, can’t wait for more!

     "There have been a lot of people, monsters, and other things who have tried to kill Mercedes Thompson Hauptmann, and most of them died in the attempt. She is not helpless, nor is she weak." 


This, this could be Mercy's tagline though I would add that she is not stupid. But this quote from Marsilia sums up Mercy pretty well.

 "Silence Fallen", while not one of my favorites in this series, was a good story. Mercy is kidnapped and taken to Europe where she escapes. She's on her own, away from her home territory and her friends and family. But she's smart and resourceful and oh so stubborn.

The story is told in alternating POV's - first person from Mercy and third person via Adam. The chapters with their POVs don't necessarily line up which can get a little confusing but the beginning of each chapter tells when it's occurring. It can be a little jarring but for the most part, it works. The story starts off with a bang, moves at a good clip, slows down a bit, then picks up, slows down again, and picks up again.

Briggs gives us an abundance of detail about Prague, further develops Mercy's abilities, conspiracies within conspiracies, a nod to Dr. Who, shows off Honey and Marsilia, and oh, Honey is one bad ass woman. We also meet the goblin king, Larry and he's funny:

    "We don't call ourselves that," said Larry dryly. "That was just that one movie. I mean, "Larry the Goblin King" just doesn't have the right ring to it."


And ,

    "Witches are bitches and they'll burn your britches sure as kittens have itches if you give 'em half a chance."


I admit, I missed Mercy having the backup, and the interactions, with her friends and peers. Given the set up, we are missing many of  the usual cast and I did miss them. However, I did enjoy seeing Adam interact with Honey, another werewolf named Matt, the goblins, and various vampires, both friendly and unfriendly. We really get to see his love for Mercy, his understanding of her and what he's willing to do for her.

While the story isn't fast paced, there is lots of action, interspersed with supernatural politics, humor, some history lessons, and a bit of romance. Towards the end I was tearing up a bit, but no worries, they were happy tears. As I said, not one of my favorites stories in this series but I did enjoy it. In fact, when I re-read it, I enjoyed it more the second time around. If you are behind on the series, or haven't started yet, you really need to read the earlier books first. Events from the previous book, "Fire Touched" are particularly crucial to this story.

Once upon a time I was killing some time in one of my usual bookstores and came across this appealing cover of a book called "O Apelo da Lua" (the Portuguese edition of Moon Called). You know the saying never judge a book by its cover? Well, I am no ashamed to confess it was the cover that make me notice it. Then I read the blurb. And snapped a picture for later. Fast forward a few years later, and Mercy Thompson continues to be one of my favorite series. And installments like this one remind me of the why.

It was... a Mercy Thompson book like we hadn't know in a long time. Remember the old Mercy? The one that couldn't rely on Adam and the pack to keep her out of trouble? The resourceful Mercy, the little coyote that everybody underestimates and ultimately pays the price? Well, that Mercy is here. Full-force and better than never, because now, she has a lot more to lose, a lot more to fight for. And the growth she experienced as the series progresses allows for a Mercy Thompson the old world is not ready for.

Did I mention we also have Adam? And let me tell you, I had my doubts about Adam. Not that he's not a great alpha, or a great mate. But I always thought we never saw Adam's true potential blooming. Maybe because we usually see him from Mercy's eyes.  Well, we now have the chance to see Adam in all his glory and it takes the spotlight and grabs the attention like a hot actor in a sea of zombies.

I was a bit wary at the change between POVs... specially when I realized we would be on two different timelines. Well, thank you Patty for proving me that you know what is best for you books, because it made the experience so much better.

In a nutshell, Mercy is here to stay, and that series is as fresh and dynamic now as it was at the beginning. If you haven't read it yet, do yourself a favor and grab Moon Called as soon as you can.

Mercy might be a girl and turn into a mere thirty pound coyote, but she is one tough cookie. She is a mechanic, who owns her own shop, hangs out with vampires, gremlins, and werewolves, and takes on some powerful creatures, including more than one alpha werewolf. In the world that Patricia Briggs created, fae (fairy-tale magical creatures) have been revealed to the normal world. A reservation was created for them, and many fae retreated to the reservation in order to stay safe from hate crimes. Other creatures, which readers know exist, aren't out to the rest of the world yet, though this becomes part of the plot throughout the series.

Though the covers make them look like a little Harlequin romance novel, these were really good stories with good character development, exciting plot lines, complicated relationships, and characters that you will grow to love. Even the side characters are enjoyable. I would love to have Zee or Stefan on my side.

Another awesome book by Patricia Briggs! You won't be able to put it down until you finish.

The best part of this series is our heroine, Mercedes Thompson Hauptmann. She is one of the best Urban Fantasy women there is, right up there next to Mac from Fever and Merit from the Chicagoland Vampires series. In my humble opinion, at least. Mercy's skills and power are both on display in this book and it really makes the book, in my opinion. As the books go on, we learn more and more of Mercy's abilities inherited from Coyote. This book showcases those powers. I don't want to go into anymore detail than that because of spoilers. But, Mercy proves that she is a force to be reckoned with all on her own. She doesn't need Adam or the Pack or her cadre of Tri-Cities supernaturals to get herself out of danger. Mercy is a fierce and determined woman. She's everything a UF heroine should be.

Another triumph for Briggs. If you like your alphas to be very "alpha-y" and your heroines capable of kicking butt, this is for you.

Just when it seems like life is settling down for Mercy and her werewolf pack, a wrench is thrown into the plan. On a simple, quick trip to the convenience store to get eggs for cookies, Mercy is in a car accident and kidnapped. Waking up in a strange place, she has no idea what is going on, but she knows she needs to escape. Adam feels the moment something happens to Mercy, but by the time he gets to the scene, she is gone with no clues left behind. Will they be able to figure out what happened and how to fix it before something worse happens?

Can I just say how freaking excited I am that this book has dual narration from both Mercy and Adam?? The series has always been narrated by Mercy, but this was the first time that the reader got insight into what was going on inside Adam and I loved it! As a side note, if Mercy was my spouse, I would wrap her in bubble wrap and keep her somewhere safe (which she would never agree to) or at least have 24 hour bodyguards with her, because, let's be honest, this is Mercy and she has the biggest target on her out of any character I have ever encountered. It was really interesting to me that her aptitude for chaos is triggered by her unique heritage, something that makes perfect sense but I never figured it out. As a side note, I would love to have Mercy's parentage explored more in upcoming books and to have her "talents" develop...

This book introduced so many new characters that I hope to see pop up in other books, such as Larry the goblin king (hehe) and Matt Smith (not the Doctor... never expected that...). I feel like this book had the biggest cast of characters out of all the Mercy stories, and each was given a personality and character depth to set them apart as individuals, which I loved. The action was also present, which is something I have come to expect from Mercy, and this was no different with vampire battles, crazed werewolves, supernatural politics, and a powerful golem following her around. And the brief moments of Adam and Mercy together with their mate bond make me sigh with happiness, but that is just a side note in this story. 

Keep in mind this it not even a little bit a standalone story, but just an action packed chapter in a very complicated developed world, so I highly recommend you start at the beginning or you will miss a LOT- and you would be sad because this is such an awesome series. I have read all the books in the series but I listened to the audiobook version for this one and it was incredibly well done, with a male and female narrator respectively for Adam and Mercy's chapters. I an so excited to see where this series will go next, and in case you can't tell, I am a huge fan.

The more times I revisit this book, the more I love it. When I first sped through this book, it was a four star for me. As I've now re-read it several more times, I find that I love it enough to bump it to a five star. For me, if I give up other books to re-read a specific book, I must really like the book. And what is not to like about Mercy? 

This book is different in writing style from some of the others. It could be because I'm reading an arc version, but I do not recall having a Mercy book where it switches between different point of views with it clearly stated at the top of the chapter. Nor do I recall the timeline being presented simultaneously. I like it. It kind of is like a Pulp Fiction-esque story with a lot happening. There are several subplots going on which all neatly blend together to become a bigger picture. Ms. Briggs does an excellent job of creating multiple streams and using them as building blocks to an ending that makes me go "wow".

Mercy in this story is once again in trouble. She can't help it since her father is the Coyote. Still, Mercy's tenacity helps keep her alive and thriving. She's helped out by various power players that underestimate her even when they think they are prepared for her. She is a tricksy kind of girl and slippery as an eel. Her tromp through Prague moved and connected for me. Since I have just recently been to Prague for a business trip, I loved reading about it. With Ms. Brigg's descriptions, it is almost like going back there. Completely spot on!

Whilst this book could feel like a filler book in some ways, it is also illuminating in how the European supernaturals relate to the American ones. It also shows the tentatively new alliance between the vampires, shifters and fae. Well, Larry the Goblin does not consider himself fae even if the other supernaturals do. It also shows the love of a father for their child and what they will do to protect the child. It is interesting to see two fathers and how they respond differently to their respective child. And just because a child is not a blood child but adopted one, it does not mean the father loves that child any less. 

This tale is fun as the reader sees just how many people care about Mercy and how she is a power not to be messed with. This book is highly recommended to urban fantasy readers who enjoy seeing the protective and ruthless side of Mercy's allies.

An excellent installment in the Mercy series.  It's fun to get to see some of Europe through this set of books, but the main plotline felt contrived around a very simple and improbable miscommunication.
