The premise for Talk Cowboy to Me caught my attention right away because it promised a fun antagonistic romance, and with Carolyn Brown, I can almost guarantee I’ll have a good time! 

Remy Luckadeau and Adele O’Donnell want the same property, and must work and live together for one month to prove they’re the right fit for a beloved ranch. Remington and Adele see the Double Deuce Ranch as a perfect property to raise their respective children.   For Adele moving off her ex’s ranch means starting a new life with her two daughters, free of the man that so easily tossed them aside. Remy is left with the care of his two young nephews when his brother dies, and wants them to have the down-to-earth upbringing he had. Neither is willing to give up without a fight let the competition begin, and the sparks fly!  

There are definitely sparks of attraction between Remy and Adele, but both are cautious, with good reason. Adele has much more to risk than her heart as a mother of two, but Remy brings out emotions that even her ex-husband couldn’t. Remy has been a tried-and-true-player, only interested in a one-night stand or at the most a weekend, but he’s dealing with much more than a fleeting attraction with Adele. Working side by side he’s come to admire Adele: her feistiness, work-ethic and big heart.  The O’Donnell’s and Luckadeau’s start off with an adversarial relationship, the girls against the boys, but soon working together they form a grudging respect; actually begin to like each other.  Before they realize it, neither can picture life at the Double Deuce without each other, one big blended family.  

I love the way Carolyn Brown depicts ranch life: minding cattle, farming, cooking and canning, sipping sweet tea on a porch swing while watching the sunset after a hard day of work.  It sounds like an old-fashioned, simpler way of life, and it appeals to this tired city girl.  

Carolyn Brown captured my heart again with this sweet, sassy Southern romance.  I laughed and swooned in equal parts while reading, and I was thrilled with how everything worked out!

Adele is divorced, raising her two daughters on her own. She’s been ranching most of her life. She is independent, smart, hard working and has a good head for business. 

Remy is raising his two nephews after his brother and sister in law were killed in an accident. He is well known in his hometown for being a playboy and he’s ok with that. Since getting custody of his nephews, he has re-evaluated his ways and wants to be a good role model for them. He has always worked on a ranch, going from a hired hand to foreman.

These two families come together to work a ranch for a month to see who will win the opportunity to buy it. Adele’s girls have been raised on a ranch and are hard workers, as well as feisty, funny and bossy like their mom. Remy’s nephews are city slickers determined to show the girls they can do anything the girls can. Watching these two families meld was a nice way to spend a few hours. 

Adele’s ex and his mother are real tools. This part of the story did bother me a bit, as nothing was really resolved and I was left wondering why it needed to be included. 

Predictable plot but a sweet, light read. These two spend time getting to know each other before jumping into bed. The kids add a great element to the story. Jet is a hoot. Good start to a new series and I look forward to the next one.

Blending of Two Families. One ranch, two buyers - owner's solution? They will work on it for 1 month whilst he's on a cruise (he leaves a list of chores) and on his return, if they're both still there, he'll make his decision. They start off very competitive, with the kids hating each other but after gradually getting to like each other they have a dilemma. Whichever family wins will have to live with the guilt of tearing the other from the ranch they have both come to love. Lovely story about ranch life, families, screwball pets and above all love. Recommended read.

This story was an easy, relaxing read. It flowed smoothly and was well paced.  The writing style was solid. The plot was sweet with a feeling very similar to the Brady Bunch. Remi’s two nephews and Adele’s two daughters were a hoot. They were honestly entertaining. One of the daughters, Jett, made a friend who was an elderly person named, Dahlia. That was an unexpected touching thread in the story.

The synopsis teased me about the rivalry between the two main characters, Adele and Remington. Talk Cowboy to Me was all talk and not enough cowboy for me. I expected much more excitement, entertainment and tension from them as they fought over who will win the Double Deuce ranch. Adele was described as a “fiery woman” who was “fighting” him for it. “Sparks” were supposedly flying when Adele and Remi were going to be together. I’m not in agreement with the synopsis. I found it more … nice, than fiery.

The romance between Remington and Adele was strongly on the sensual side, and not spicy at all. With four kids in the house under the age of 14 there weren’t too many opportunities for the “sparks” to fly. The rivalry between Remi and Adele was actually the perfect demonstration of conflict resolution. They both only wanted what was best for their children. Adele and Remi really were a perfect match as both were responsible, capable ranchers. If a reader is in the mood for a completely predictable book from the very beginning without any dark emotional turmoil or heavy conflict, coupled with a sweet and satisfying happy ending, then this book is for you.

The truth is, overall Talk Cowboy to Me is an enjoyable book. I didn’t consider it a waste of time and I would recommend reading it for a completely stress free, smooth and comfortable ride.

Four stars: A charming, whirlwind romance with a fun cast of characters.

Adele O' Donnell and Remington Luckadeau have a problem. Both of them are determined to buy the same ranch. Walter, the owner, can't decide whom to sell the ranch to, so he comes up with a wicked proposal. Both parties will live on the ranch for one month, working the land and performing a list of chores. At the end of the month when Walter returns, he will choose the winner based on merit and work. Adele is a stubborn red haired woman with two young girls who wants to find a place to plant roots after a bitter divorce. Remy finds himself the surrogate father of his two nephews, and he wants to find a home for them all. The six of them move in and get to work, bringing along a fierce competitive spirit. Surprisingly as the month wears on, the group finds some common ground. Who will win the ranch?
What I Liked:
*I almost always say this after finishing a novel by Carolyn Brown: that was pure comfort reading. This book has a delightful cast of characters, a cozy setting, plenty of comfort food, romance and a fun situation involving the sale of the ranch. I loved the down home feel to this one, and it left me with a big, goofy smile. 
*I always love Ms. Brown's characters. This time around, I was introduced to Adele and her two determined daughters, Bella and Jett. There is nothing prim and prissy about any of these ladies. They are ranchers through and through, able to do the work of any man. I loved that these girls could do anything and everything. Plus, the two daughters were funny and feisty. Remy has a reputation of being a womanizer, but since he became the caretaker of his nephews, he wants to be a good role model. I liked that he was kind and patient, and that he took on such a huge responsibility. His nephews are sweet and courteous. The entire cast of characters, including a mama cat, an old cow dog and a crazy rooster made me smile. 
*I liked the whole contest involving the ranch. It was interesting to see how the two parties, who started out as competitors, quickly evolved into friends. What a fun premise.
*The romance is full of heat and sizzle and it starts with an immediate attraction that neither party wants to act upon. Yes, it moves quickly, but it is so fun to watch it unfold. 
*I was surprised by the story line involving Dahlia. It was moving and poignant and it pulled at my heart strings.
*The ending is sweet and satisfying. It ends on a high note, after a bit of sadness that will leave you smiling. 
And The Not So Much:
*There was some unnecessary drama inserted in the story involving Adele and her ex husband and former in-laws. I expected this conflict to rear it's head and cause some significant problems for Adele and the girls, but then it suddenly went away with no further mention. It bothered me that this story line was left hanging. 
*I wished that Dahlia had a bigger part. I wanted to know her a bit better. 
*I liked the romance, but I am always bothered when they move too quickly. I wish that they hadn't rushed things at the end. Just a personal preference. 

Talk Cowboy To Me is a delightful romance with fun, feisty characters, a cozy setting, an interesting premise involving purchasing a ranch, and a group of people who must learn to live and work together. I loved the down home feel to the story and the romance. This is pure comfort reading. If you need something light and easy, this is a sure bet.

My Thoughts


I fell in love with the Double Deuce Ranch just as much as Adele, her 2 girls, Remy and his 2 boys did. I especially however enjoyed seeing each new day spent together draw not only the adults closer but their offspring as well.

The elderly owner of the ranch may have orchestrated a surprising scheme to pick the new buyer but from the very beginning of it’s unveiling there was no doubt in my mind that what started out as a competition would turn into something quite different sooner than later.

Cannot emphasize enough just how much it pleases me to open a book penned by author Carolyn Brown. As always her mixture of honest charm and scorching chemistry take the romance between main female/male leads together into the realm of believability rather than fiction.

Once more I raced to finish a book while enjoying every step toward it's ending and then mourning finishing when last page read.

Filled with plenty of humor this story focused on what being satisfied with an honest hardworking life should be like, and how raising a family is the most important job a man or woman could undertake alone or together.

With requisite charm and the standard helping of tender loving care, both author and story set up residence within the heart and I didn't mind having to share. A newly single mother looking to start anew, discovered the perfect remedy to chase away her heartache blues. A newly minted guardian is looking to change his ways. If only he could get his heart to listen to what his mind is trying to say. Carolyn Brown took The Brady Bunch and placed it within the wild west, and although I'm a fan of whatever she does, Talk to Me placed above the rest. Ms. Brown has a sixth sense with matter of the heart. That special talent manages to set her apart. Loved it.

Wow this was a great sexy read, and not in the sex in every scene type of way. This was my first time reading this particular author and she gave me so much more out of this story then I ever thought possible. 
Remington Luckadeau is a known ladies man all over the great state of Florida, that is until a few months ago when his brother and sister in-law died in an accident and left their two sons to him in their will. Now Remi will do anything inorder to show those two young men how to treat women right, and teach them all about ranching. And his mission is as follows, move to a new area where his reputation does not preceed him and to by the double deuce ranch. One part of that is going as plan but buying the ranch is a little harder since the owner of the ranch has decided that the two perspective buyers will live on the ranch for a month and he will decide who wins the ranch at the end. Now Remi and his two new kids will be sharing the ranch with a divorcee single mom and her two daughters. 
Adele O'Donnell is trying to give her daughters a new life. Thanks to her bastard of an ex-husband that new life involves packing up everything from their home and trying to find a new ranch to own. Her plan would have perfect, her daughters are great ranchers and they should have no problem out ranching some city boys and their uncle. Of course it would be a lot easier if the boys were not so lovable and if their uncle was not a such a great good looking guy. But with his reputation she needs to avoid him at all cost. But of course that doesn't mean they cant be friends....right?
This was a great "enemies" to friends to lovers romance. And it was an even better melding of families rancher story. Even without the romance this was a great read, but I got to admit the romance made it quire a bit more likeable. 
I highly recommend this story as it is a unique, quirky, absolutely adorable read. There are some moments that hurt a bit just because of how easy it is to become empathetic to the children so when ever something hurts them it hurts the reader as well. This was one hell of a romance that you will not want to miss out on. And this author will definitely be one of the ones you will always go back to.

'Talk Cowboy to Me' by Carolyn Brown is book One in the "Lucky Cowboys" series. This is the story of Remy and Adele. Adele is trying to cope with her husband leaving her for his mistress. In addition, she has two children who are trying to adapt to this change. Remy too is going through a life change in which his brother has past and left him with his children. Both Adele and Remy have fallen in love with a Ranch that they both think it would help the kids with their current family issues. But they both can't have the Ranch can they? This was a sweet story to watch how two families with hardships come together to make one family. *A Book Obsessed Chicks Review Team Selection*

So this story brings together a few of the other series that Carolyn writes, taking family members and bringing them together for this story, while making the towns all a part of the same world. I loved this story, I think the kids made this story, they had such strong personalities that I can't wait to see if she writes them love stories as well.  

I went into this not knowing the premise or anything really, it's how I love reading my books and I just fell in love with the town, the families, the children and eventually the couple.  Given the opportunity to own a piece of land matters to both the parents for different reasons and they have over a month to figure out who is going to win this bet.  I loved how they worked separately and had strong spirits of competition, neither was going to let the other get their ranch.  

Separately they each brought their own expertise to the ranch and each of their children has their own reason for loving the ranch.  This romance was so down to earth, the way the couple was so simple and normal.  Sometimes in romance you can forget that it isn't about the glamour but the everyday journey towards being better than you were yesterday that really makes a romance.  I love that Carolyn writes these stories, everyday families with good strong beliefs as their backbone working towards their common goals.  They aren't dirt poor but they aren't the Gates either and that's ok, they still get it done, they still build, create, work and enjoy life.  

Remy & Adele learning to work together even though they were competing was fun to read. Adele could easily fit into my family, a strong capable woman who is trying make sure her children don't pay for her mistakes.  She's hell bent on making a home for her girls and making them strong women so they don't ever feel like they aren't everything to her, and yet she's trying to navigate getting past her one mistake of trying to change to fit someone else's idea of who she should have been.  

Her choices aren't easy and yet she makes them with the respect to her girls wishes.  I loved that she put her children first and that she loved them so fiercely.  I loved her and Remy coming together, it was sweet romantic and all kinds of cute the way they floundered around trying to move from competitors to friends and to a couple.  

Remy grew up fast when his life changed and he got the boys, still close with his family he knew he had to strike out on his own to help the boys adjust and I loved that he wanted a home for them as well.  He came to the realization that he wanted more first and yet he followed Adele's lead and let her set the tone and I loved him for that.  

A sweet romance that allowed us to revisit favorite characters, while setting up more for the future and I can't wait to see how the kids turn out in the future.  The girls at least will be a spitfires.

When Adele O'Donnell set foot on the Double Deuce Ranch knowing it was for sale she knew she had to have it. She had been a cowgirl most of her life and wanted to raise her two daughters the same way.

When Remington Luckadeau step foot on the Double Deuce Ranch knowing it was for sale he knew he wanted it to raise his two nephews there. As so the competition begins. They have one month to run the ranch together and the owner will decide who did the better job and sell it to that person.

As a sucker reader for contemporary reader of Cowboy novels, I was hooked.  Basically, I'm hook on Cowboy snap shirts and worn jeans.
Now put two single healthy people together for 30 days with their kids and you have a really cute story.

I have read quite a few novels by Ms Brown and she never disappoints her readers.

I really wanted to like this book.  I am a big fan of Carolyn Brown's Lucky Penny ranch series so I was looking forward to reading this when I first received it.  It's the beginning of a new series about cowboys...two of my favorite things about reading romance novels.  But the premise of this story was too much for me to get over.  I know it's a work of fiction and I know they do things their own way in Texas, but the sharing a house scenario that was central to the main plotline was just too much of a suspension of reality for me.  I couldn't get past that to enjoy the love story because I was too busy thinking how ridiculous the entire situation was.  I'm sorry I can't recommend this book for that reason.

A fun and sweet story by a great author. One the one hand, ther is Adele and her two sweet daughters. Then you have Remy, short for Remington, who is raising his brother's two sons. Both sets are trying to win the rights to purchase a ranch in Texas, and the owner gives them a month to decide the winner. A modern Brady bunch in the works, but a fun trip. Highly recommend this book and author, it was hard to put this one down.

A modern day Yours, Mine and Ours, but with cowboys! I truly adored this book. The kids are hilarious. The premise is fun -- one ranch, two potential buyers. And I love a good story with a slow burn of a romance. This romance will make you laugh, cry and is the perfect amount of steamy.

I really like Carolyn Brown novels. I'm a sucker for a cowboy. Especially a cowboy with kids so this was right up my alley!

There were a few editing issues but that comes with ARCs..

There wasn't a whole lot of an actual relationship between Remy and Adele. (And the whole book is only one month.)

I thought the "drama" with Adele's ex was little unnecessary. Or not played up enough. There wasn't a lot with it so it just didn't really fit in..
Other than that, I thought it was a good book. I can always count on Brown's books to be good story lines and well written.

A great start to a new series i really enjoyed this book it had me hooked right from the start it was well written with super characters i adored Remington and Adele's story was a super read cant wait for the next one.

Another new series. I really enjoyed the fact that it's connected to a couple of her other series, so I can get caught up with some of the extended family.
I think I fell in love with the children first. All four are unique in their own ways. And the fact that they didn't grumble about doing ranch chores, instead making it more fun by challenging each other.
Then we have Remy and Adele. Both seem to have it together, and should be able to take care of the ranch easily without the other. So when they choose to work together instead of splitting the chores, I just knew that it would all work out in the end.

When I first started the book...I thought the plot sounded familiar. The competition is similar to Betsy Gallagher and Declan Brennan in 'A Cowboy Christmas Miracle'.....but the only similarity is a competition for a ranch.
   Remy Luckadeau needs the ranch to care for his brother's orphaned sons.
   Adele O'Donnell needs it to make a home for her two daughters. The three of them dumped by her ex-husband for his mistress.
   The deal is they have to take care of Walter's ranch for a month, then he'll pick one to buy it.
   But they bond into a tight knit group a pseudo family and become one.
   Warm, funny and romantic, this tale in strong in family values and community spirit. If there really was such a place, the waiting list to get in would be endless.
   Wonderfully told, I read in one day and pray that we will at least get Cassie's story, and if we're lucky...we will hear about the love lives of Jett, Bella, Nick and Leo.
   I received an ARC copy from Netgalley and know of 3 people off the top of my head who would love this for their Valentine or Easter gift.
