I really enjoyed this story. This is only part of the story surrounding the illness that is facing the shifters. It was a good one to introduce Julie and make her see that her friends and family didn't really cut her off like she thought. There were plenty of light hearted and humorous moments as I have come to expect from this author. The story was over all an enjoyable read.

You guys, I almost don't have any words for how damn much I am loving this series, but especially this book! Mark stole my heart from the first page, I swear! After meeting him in book one, I knew I was going to fall hard for him, given the tragic story that was his life, and his immediate future. But, I had no idea exactly how much. He is just so great, you guys just have no clue! The fact that he has loved this one girl, his fated mate- even if he didn't know that's what she was at the time- since he was sixteen, it made me swoon!!
And I promise, Julie is just as great. Sometimes, you have a great hero, that sometimes gets stuck with a whiny, or just downright crappy woman- but not this time. He got lucky with Julie. Not only has she also loved Mark since they were teens, but she is willing to fight tooth and nail to save him when she hears his horrible story. Even as much as she never believed in the shifter lore that her father spent his life researching, once she finds out that the man she loves is a bear, and only has limited time left- she does a 180 and makes it her life's mission to help him, as well as save another shifter in the process.
There's also a very interesting twist to this story that wasn't in book one, which I think you are going to LOVE!! I don't want to say too much about that, except that it shows how everything really does come full circle, and the ultimate good vs. evil battle has yet to be fought.
So, if you're a PNR fan like me, I think you're gonna thoroughly enjoy this new series, and definitely this book for sure!! Book three is going to blow me out of the water I think, and is absolutely gearing up to be my favorite of the series, I can already tell. Kudos Kathy on some great shifters, and even better stories!!
5 stars!!

After reading the first book and deciding that book was not for me, I couldn't bring myself to read this book so I never did. Sorry.

LICENCE TO SHIFT by Kathy Lyons gives readers Mark and Julie's story. Julie and Mark had one night together in their shared past but that was a long time ago. Nowadays Mark stays away from the world and is resigned to his fate of going feral. When Julie needs help with her father's journals the only one she can turn to is Mark but will he help her or once again let her go out of his life? The sparks ignite between the two right from the start but can Mark find a way to help Julie without being a threat to her himself? Soon there is a threat to Julie and it is up to Mark to figure it out before it is too late or has time passed for these two already?
Julie is a smart and strong woman yet she does not recognize the danger that she is in. Mark must decide if he will help and protect the woman that he has always loved or let her go. As hard as he tries it seems that Mark cannot and will not stand by and let danger come calling without trying to protect Julie. As the two work together secrets are revealed. Can and will Julie finally accept Mark as he is or will his bear scare her away? The two make a good couple that give each other just what they need. I enjoyed seeing these two reconnect and find a way towards their happy ending. We get to see how strong their love and trust is when Mark must take one last chance to save Julie before going feral. Both are strong characters and seeing them work together made for a nice read. Love is strong and worth fighting for. Julie and Mark learn this lesson the hard way.
Mark and Julie's journey is one filled with action and romance. Not only do we get a wonderful main story but many of the secondary characters have something to say. I do not read a lot of bear shifter stories but this series has me intrigued. I am enjoying the world that this author has created in her Grizzlies Gone Wild books.
LICENSE TO SHIFT is a wonderful adventure and had me rooting for love. After reading the snippet at the end of this book I am excited to see where the next book in this series will take us.

Book two didn't disappoint! Loving these bear shifters!

Going feral is a real danger for bear shifters. No one knows this better than Mark Robertson. He's been isolated and staying in his bear form. Despite his best intentions, he knows he will be putting his best friend in a bad situation when he goes feral. His best friend and alpha will need to put him down. When Julie Simon returns to Saginaw Michigan, Mark's bear takes a turn back towards humanity. This second book in the series can be read as a standalone. It is better read in order as a continuous thread from the first book carries on in this one.
This second book is just as fun as the first. I read this book in one reading and with great relish. Julie is a woman who loves her father and does her best to support his eccentricities. When carrying out her father's request, she crosses paths again with Mark, the man who burned up her sheets and then dropped her like yesterday's garbage. Mark is still as handsome as ever even if he is a bit reclusive. When he helps her find out about her father's crazy research on shifters, she is learns why Mark left her last time.
The characters in this book are fun. Julie is the rational level headed one. She is rooted in reality and when her world shifts, it is shattering for her. It's interesting to watch her dynamic with Mark. The reader can see how Mark slowly moves away from his animal tendencies and makes his way back to humanity. At times it seems they rub each other the wrong way. The friction helps them to force the secrets out into the open. It also adds to the sexual tension. When these two finally hit the sheets, it is primal and Mark is an animal. I like it!
From a plot perspective, the story continues on and what the readers learn is disturbing. The revenge aspect and self-loathing is sad. Whilst it is understandable how it started, the way it plays out is all too easy to see. Many times, people take the easy way out. Hating someone else and blaming them for all their troubles. Mark and Julie together make great strides in figuring out pieces to this puzzle and it keeps a reader's interest engaged and looking forward to the next book in the series. This paranormal romance is recommended for readers who like grumpy bears who turn into teddy bears.
