Great story, thrilling plot that I could not put down. Well worth a read, and would recommend to others.

Sophie discovers there's a deep dark secret that's been kept from her over the years. This is not so much her story but the story of her mother and her aunt. it's well done, with good characters and storytelling.

Sinéad Moriarty's breathtaking eighth novel, This Child of Mine, is the story of two daughters, two mothers and the extraordinary bond of motherly love.

Bookouture and NetGalley provided me with an electronic copy of This Child of Mine. I was under no obligations to review this book and my opinion is freely given.

Laura was just a teenager when her daughter Jody was born, relying on her mother and brother to take care of the child so that she could continue her wanton ways. After tragedy takes the child away, will Laura find the strength to mature and change her life?

After Anna and her husband suffer the loss of several pregnancies, their world is torn apart. Choosing to make a fresh start, will a split second decision on Anna's part set in motion heartache for some and happiness for others?

When eighteen year old Sophie sees a woman on television that bears a strong resemblance to her, will her search for the truth lead to heartache?

This Child of Mine should have been a compelling story, but I never quite felt the emotional upheaval that the characters experienced. The rage, the anger, the fear, the love, the loss, and the hope that swirled through the book were just words on a page for me. The only character that felt remotely real was Sophie, for her reactions seemed realistic and genuine. There were points in the plot that seemed to exist only to move the story along, instead of being a logical step in the lives of the characters. For these reasons, I would be hesitant to recommend This Child of Mine to other readers.

Thanks to netgalley for the opportunity to have read this great book.  This is the first book by Sinead Moriarty I’ve read, and I can honestly say I will try more of hers in future.
The book focuses on two women, mothers, Laura and Anna and the reader sees how the actions of one person can shape and destroy another person’s life.  The book took me on a rollercoaster ride, and didn’t leave me until the last page, last sentence.  It was really an entertaining read and recommended!

Wow! A powerful story of heartbreak and love as a young woman abducts a child to provide a better life for her.
This will surely have your heart pounding as you read all the emotions of Sophie, Laura, Anna and Joan.
I went from tears of sadness to tears of joy as this plot thickened and continued.
A great story we all hope we never ever have to live.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for my opinion.
This story was about 2 mothers who made a horrible mistake. While I was upset with both of them at times, other times the story line felt very unrealistic.

This Child of Mine is a book about two mothers who have made horrible mistakes but love their daughter, Sophie. The plot of this story felt unrealistic at times but still made for an engaging read. At times I was angry at the choices both mothers have made but circumstances in their lives have brought them to these choices. We as the reader must decide if they are justified in these choices. This was an interesting book which mixes humor with some heavy issues. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
