According to plan?
This book had me hooked from the get go... and not just because it’s about the state I grew up in. Rebecca did an AMAZING job with details that make you feel as you’re right there with the characters. (Now I want to go to the mountains, I can’t ski but I can enjoy the beauty)! Sometimes things don’t go according to plan, what you do with the aftermath is what matters, as with the characters in this story. Now I need to find another book by Rebecca to read. She’s amazing. You’ve got to read this book to get the beautiful details about how life is on the mountain.
Due to sexual situations and adult language, this book is recommended for readers 17 and older! ARC received from Netgalley for an honest voluntary review.

I started to read this book but I just couldn't get halfway through due it just not being my type of book.

Fun, sexy read. I loved the different setting of a ski resort, and thought the characters had great depth and sass. Definitely recommend.

Make Me Stay is the first book in the Men of Gold Mountain series by Rebecca Brooks. I was excited about this one because I love sports romance stories and Austin is a retired skier and this one sounded like it would check all my boxes. I have to say though that while there were some cute and sexy moments here, ultimately I had a tough time getting over a few details and that kept me from loving the story.

Austin retired from a successful skiing career after an injury changed his life. Now Gold Mountain is his home and refuge and Kane Enterprises threatens to ruin everything for Austin once again. When Austin meets Sam on the slopes, he has no idea that his sexy one-night stand is also Samantha Kane, the woman determined to get him to sell his land for her to develop. As Sam and Austin start to fall for one another it is only a matter of time before the truth comes out.

Sam and Austin had a lot of chemistry. They were great together, and their scenes were sexy. They were clearly forming a connection and I would have loved to have seen the focus more on that, rather than the secret being dragged out to the very end. As much as I loved these two together, the secret about Sam's identity seemed to be used solely for the purpose of building conflict and I would have preferred to see these two deal with that earlier so that we could have seen more depth to their relationship.

As much as I wanted to really love Austin, the author made that a bit impossible as she made him come off as a bit too stupid for my liking. Austin knew he was supposed to be meeting a woman named Samantha Kane, and yet when he bumped into a woman named Sam he was just completely clueless. I found that to be completely unbelievable and hurt my enjoyment of the story as well as how much I could like Austin's character. I think that this book had potential, but unfortunately it was just hard for me to really feel invested when things were unrealistic for me right off with this story. Don't get me wrong it was still a good read, and aside from that it was a sweet and sexy romance. I would read more in the series and I think contemporary fans will enjoy this story even if they don't all love it.

Samantha is nothing if not driven. When she sets her sights on something she will do whatever it takes to achieve it. What she wants now? To complete the dream of her father and turn Gold Mountain into "The" mountain getaway. There is only one hiccup in her plan, they hardheaded Austin Reese.

Austin knows what Kane Enterprise wants and he has no desire to be a part of it. He likes his life and solitude and has no desire to see the town changed into a resort town. What he doesn't realize is that his quiet life is about to be turned upside down.

I really enjoyed Same and Austin. They both had things from their past haunting them and keeping them from moving forward in life. When they meet, you could practically feel the heat from them jumping from the pages. They were each what the other needed and it was only a matter of time before the were burning up the sheets, or shack, or snowmobile.

I loved going through their journeys to find out who they really were and who they want to be. I loved the dynamic between Sam and Austin and how they both pushed each other to be their best. I thought the author did a good job of making the characters believable and keeping the story flowing. This is a wonderful series and I can't wait to see what the author has in store for us next!

I love reading Brazen books. Samantha and Austin have hot sex without Samantha telling Austin who he is. She knows as soon as he knows, he'll hate her and he'll never want to see her again. Sam just wants to enjoy time with someone and be herself. Austin loves living on the mountain and wants to keep the area just like it is. But Samantha is continuing her father's dream to turn the mountain into a large resort, creating many jobs for the area. You can imagine what happens when Austin finds out but not all!
