A beautiful adaptation of a classic book.
Loved that it was turned to a manga and how the characters were drawn.
Definitely worth reading it ♥️

Thank you Netgalley for giving me an ARC.

Being a manga first timer, I didn’t really know what to expect. I really liked that there were instructions on how to read manga (starting at the back!). I had read Jane Eyre, so I already knew the story, which I loved in the original book, and still enjoyed a lot. I’m not sure how I felt about the combination of manga and a classic story though. Sometimes I felt like the images and the story didn’t really go together. Overall I did enjoy this though, and I’m looking forward to trying more manga classics.

I had a hard time connecting with this copy. Most of the problems were technical. I'm sure this book would be much more enjoyable as a physical copy rather than an ebook copy. The art is amazing! I love that it stuck to the basics of the story but allowed for a change in how the scenes looked to make it fit this format.
The dialogue was the second best part (art being first). I loved seeing a favorite classic story of mine recreated in this way.
I look forward to reading more manga recreations of the classics in the future.

I'll be honest, I've never actually read Jane Eyre. I've picked it up a few times, as well as tried listening to the audio, but I've always struggled getting past the part of her living with her awful aunt and wicked cousins because not a lot was happening aside from them just being horrible to her. I knew a lot of what happened throughout the story so I was still really intrigued by it, which is why I was extremely excited to find that there was a manga adaptation. I love reading manga and I knew that I would finally be able to be pulled into the story in this format because the design and layout would make it much easier not only to grab my attention, but to hold it throughout the story as well. The artwork is beautiful and it just makes the experience that much more enjoyable. There were parts where it seemed slightly rushed or where the transitioning didn't make a lot of sense, but that's honestly to be expected when a book as large as Jane Eyre is cut down into a manga where each page has not nearly as many words as the actual book because the pictures are telling the story too. Overall, I really enjoyed reading this manga and I'm actually even more motivated to pick up Jane Eyre and see how this manga compares to the original story!

Thank you so much UDON Entertainment and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book!

This version of Jane Eyre is part of the Manga Classics collection of classic novels rewritten and illustrated in manga form.

Do I really need to summarize Jane Eyre? It is the story of an orphan girl who becomes a governess at a mysterious estate owned by the intriguing Mr. Rochester.

The manga retelling follows the book almost exactly. The pros of this manga version are that you can enjoy the great plot within a shorter amount of time while enjoying the gorgeous illustrations. The settings and facial expressions don’t have to be described but illustrated, which is kind of fun. It mixes some of the best things of movies and books together.

The cons are that you miss out on digesting the beautiful prose in the original novel by Charlotte Bronte. You don’t hear the characters thoughts as much or understand as much of the depth of the characters as the original describes.

The manga version didn’t follow the plot exactly, exactly. The author even wrote in the back that she rearranged some of the dialogue in one of the scenes and made a few other minor changes in order to fit the manga genre which always ends on a cliffhanger or a dramatic point at the end of a chapter. She did this to keep people engaged. I think there might have been a few minor scenes deleted as well, and some of the moods of different scenes weren’t as I remembered them (though I could be remembering an inaccurate movie instead of the book).

On the whole, I John this book was very enjoyable and well-done. I loved the illustrations and enjoyed the story as always. I might read it again, and I definitely recommend it.

I received a complementary copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own, and I was not compensated for sharing them.

I love that classic literature is so accessible in the graphic novel format.
The main story is all there.
The characters, their love and struggles beautifully illustrated.
I can’t wait to read more!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an arc in exchange for my honest review.

I hate to confess to this, but previous to this I had never read Jane Eyre. I'm a lifelong reader, but somehow it escaped me! I found this to be a wonderful introduction to the story. What a fantastic idea of redoing the classic novels in manga form. This makes them so accessible to many who would otherwise pass them over.

Thank you to UDON Entertainment and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I adore Jane Eyre in all its forms. This was a refreshing way to re-read the classic and I really, really enjoyed spending an afternoon with a cup of tea and this artwork. I will say that if someone hasn't read the original, they might miss out a bit on the subtlety of the plot, but that may just be me being biased.

Jane Eyre was one of the first classic novels I read and one of my favourites.
So when I heard that there was a manga adaptation about it, I was both excited and nervous about if the adaptation would bring the novel justice.
But I did not have to worry.
The art style (all the characters looked as I had imagined them while reading the story for the first time) and the storyline, which had all the important facts and details in it, made me feel like as if I had read the book all over again.
5 out of 5 stars from me.

Jane Eyre is an orphan who has to go through a lot of hardships and who I dare to say is one of the first female characters in literature that doesn’t think that being a wife and having kids is her ultimate goal –at least, considering the time it was set in.

She’s this small girl that is always treated poorly by her aunt and cousins, though she never gives them reason to do so. When she gets a little bit older, she studies real hard until she becomes a Governess (from what I understood, is kind of like a private teacher), and she makes a life of her own, away from people who don’t appreciate her.

On the other hand, we have Mr. Rochester, a wealthy man that’s unreadable to most people, but not to Jane. They have this unique connection from the moment they meet and they see the best in each other, despite their different positions. Still, their romance doesn’t happen in a few days. For me, this was more of a slow-burn, which makes it so much better already. Though there’s a huge age-gap between them, I feel like they complement each other to the point that you want them to be together no matter what.

Now, if I must be honest, there is a LOT of drama going on but I never felt like it was too much because Jane Eyre feels like a fresh character in a time where women didn’t really have a voice. I was moved by her friendship with Helen, and the last chapters with Mr. Rochester even made me tear up a bit.

This manga adaptation has a great art and it made me want to read the original work! I’ve been trying to get more into classics and the format is just perfect when it comes to books you might consider heavy readings.

I would totally recommend you to read this in case you haven’t already, and if you’re a fan of Brontë’s original work, you definitely have to see what the manga adaptation brings new to the table!

Jane Eyre has always been one of my favourite classic novels, so I wasn't sure what to expect from a manga version. However, this story works beautifully as a manga classic. This is a book that I would out on my classroom shelf and recommend to my 8th grade students, who would normally never pick up the novel version. I look forward to reading more in the manga classics series.

Jane Eyre is one of my favourite books of all time. It was the first classic I read, and it is one that has stayed with me for all these years. I’ve seen countless adaptations for this book for the screen, but I never read it in manga form until now.

This was a fantastic adaptation. It kept to the original story quite closely, and brought a new life to the tale. The art work is gorgeous, and fitting the gothic theme of Jane Eyre. I reviewed the Scarlet Letter of this series as well, so most of my thoughts are the same here. It’s perfect for anyone wanting to get into the classics, especially for those who struggle with reading, and I can’t wait to read the rest of these Manga Classics.

Only complaint I have is that Jane is meant to be plain, but she’s a pretty cute chibi in the manga. The scene where she’s comparing herself to Blanche and calls herself plain in comparison didn’t really work, because she prettier than she should be.

This Manga classic is about Jane Eyre that is an orphaned child that was sent to live with her abusive aunt. Her aunt decides to send Jane to charity school to get a proper education. Once Jane was done with school she takes a governess position at the estate of Mr. Rocherster. Jane discovers dark secrets at his estate.

I enjoyed this Manga Classics, it was fun reading a story from a classic novel this way, I wasn't a fan of the reading the book backwards, it took some getting use to. But it was interesting. The artwork was pretty cool also. I loved the story, loved the happy ending.

I recommend this book to anyone that likes Manga comic and classic novels. This Manga is a good starter book for people that are just starting with Manga comics.

I would like to thanks Netgalley and UDON Entertainment & Morpheus Studios
for giving me the chance to read a copy of this.

While Jane Eyre wasn't necessarily a story I enjoyed when I had read it in high school, this retelling of it made me fall in love with the story. Seeing everything that Jane goes through, the interactions she has, and the relationships she builds through this beautiful art made me have a new appreciation for the story. The scenes were beautifully and accurately portrayed and added a new layer to the classic I didn't enjoy prior to reading this manga version. I would highly recommend this to anyone trying to dip their toes into the story of Jane Eyre or someone who already loves the classic tale.

I am surprised that I discovered Jane Eyre as a comic. The story is one of my favorite classics and I have already seen all versions of the films and also read the book. As a manga adaptation, that is a completely different feeling.

The cover is really pretty with Jane on it and the country house in the background.

Hardly anyone knows the story about Jane and Rochester. For me it has always been the most beautiful of the Bronte stories. Orphan Jane, who comes to Rochester's household as a governess and is to take care of Rochester's ward. There she finds out the dark secrets of the house and the landlord and loses her heart.

The story has been implemented quite precisely and I really like the drawing style, but unfortunately Jane seems too young for me. Of course she is quite young in the book too, but she looks very, very childlike. This is a little irritating, since Rochester looks much older and more adult.

They could have let a little more womanliness flow into it. For me this is actually the only minus point. Otherwise I am really happy with the work and the implementation and it was a pleasure to relive the story again. That's why I give the book 4 stars.

I was really excited to read this version of Jane Eyre by Manga Classics! I honestly love these comic book adaptations of classic novels. I have another version of Jane Eyre comic, and I absolutely love them both! I really enjoyed comparing and contrasting them to each other, as well as to the original text by Charlotte Bronte. I think it is really important to study the great works of literature, and adapting them into comic book format makes them super fun, quick, and easy to read. It also is a great way to create a discussion around the text. I was impressed with the book; for a shortened version of the text, the authors did a fantastic job of selecting the important parts of the text, highlighting and explaining it in a quick and fun way.

The manga formating of this made me enjoy the story of Jane Eyre more. I believe that this type of adaptation will be able to successfully expose those who are wary of classic novels to the beautiful stories they tell.
