I’m always looking for new versions and formats of classics to put in students hands and this is one I will definitely be purchasing. Students will love the artwork and retelling of this classic in the manga format! |
*~~*ARC kindly provided to me for an honest review *~~* - Review to come Review originally posted on my blog with added content on Mikku-chan / A world full of words |
This book did not capture my attenting for long. I just could not seem to get into it. The images were not in color, which could have helped. When I read a graphic novel or manga, it's to completely immerse myself in the world of the characters. My sense of sight needs to be stimulated, and it just didn't do that for me. This is one classic that should have been left alone. |
One of my least favourite Jane Austen books, yet the story presented through manga style had left me not wanting to put the it down! The Dashwood's are so vivid in their personalities, their joy, sorrow and humour oozes off that page! The Manga Classics series is a joy to read! Thank you so much to the creators for bringing this series to life! |
I truly enjoyed this. The story flowed easily and the images were beautiful. Its great to see the classics brought back to life in this way. |
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Actual rate: 4.5 I love the comic, didn't stray from the original book and plot. The exaggeration of beauty and complications was something that I expected from a comic adaptation. Other than that, this comic is amazing for readers who prefer comics over books -if they wish to read Sense and Sensibility. |

I am a new reader of manga. I was really interested on this take on the classic novel. The drawings were beautifully done. The expressiveness of the characters were definitely on point. I also liked the attention to detail in the setting and costumes. Storywise, I found that it did a good job of following the story while making it concise enough to do manga justice. |
*I received this book on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review* This was a fun and easy way to read a classic novel. It's always going to be so hard to condense a classic and still get the key points across, while adding in the subtleties. The only thing that I wish was done better were the transitions. Sometimes it just felt like it jumped from one scene to the next without setting it up so you knew where you were at in the book. I would end up feeling like the I missed a chapter or something. Besides that I enjoyed the quick and fun read, I'll enjoy reading another Manga Classic. |

I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review. A wonderful classic brought to life with beautiful pictures. Anyone who enjoys the sense and sensibility and manga, will love this book. |
I am a HUGE Jane Austen nerd! I read this cute Manga version of Sense and Sensibility just a week before going to see a play based on the same book. What a fun way to jump back into this Austen story! |
This book is so beautiful! My favorite Jane Austen book is Pride and Prejudice, yet Sense and Sensibility is probably my second favorite. The art is amazing as always, along with the story and the characters. They do a great job turning the book into manga. I can't wait to buy this and have it in my collection. Everyone that enjoys classics and Jane Austen should do so as well! |
So pretty! It's beautiful as every book in this series! I love the mangda styled classics, it might bother some people, as more emotions are showed (not just described) but I think that it's refreshing (especially if you know the original) |

I enjoyed it greatly! I am guilty, why? I have not read sense and sensibility the book! I know shame on me, but I have to admit I am glad I read it in this format first. It gave me the feel of the story with incredible art. This was also my firts manga and it took me a while to get into it but eventually I did and the experience became enjoyable. I am exited to read the book now thanks to this! I recommend it! |

*A un-edited electronic proof copy of this manga was received for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This adaptation follows Marianne and her sister Elinor as they experience love, and the threat of losing it, in a world where a persons money and social status plays a huge part. This is yet another beautiful adaptation from this collection, a story I have long loved was brought to life for me again, accompanied by brilliant artwork helping to further capture every emotion. I adore Jane Austen’s classic novel, and this adaption captures the essence of it. Focusing on the adaptation and art within this manga, the plot flowed throughout and the pace was good. Although it is inevitable that the story would need to be condensed to fit into this adaptation, it was done in such a way that nothing felt missed out. I loved the artwork, for me each image conveyed depth and feeling, in a way which can’t always be conveyed by the written word alone. Overall I really enjoyed this adaptation, it gave me a chance to revisit a favourite novel in a different form. If you like classic literature or are looking for a fresh spin on a classic you might just love this. |
The team at Udon has done it again! The pure artistic vision in this Manga Classic of Jane Austen's timeless Sense and Sensibility will capture readers from the very start. I've read the original book before, but that was once upon a time and I could hardly remember the details. Yet, I'm so happy to have rediscovered this treasure through the artistry of this manga and relive so many joyous moments as if I was reading the story for the very first time. |
As an absolute Jane Austen fanatic, I was so excited to download this book. While obviously much effort went in to its making, I found it hard to enjoy. I could barely get though the first part of this manga style rendition of one of my favorite books. The dialogue felt like it was taken straight from the 2008 movie adaptation. I love that movie, but if I wanted to watch the movie I would watch the movie, The Dashwood girl’s characters also looked to much alike that I could not tell them apart. In general, the story moved along at a jarring pace. Overall, it just was not for me. However, I could see this being a great opportunity to attract a different audience to the wonderful world of Austen, so for that I give it a thumbs up. |
As usual, I was blown away by the quality of the art in this book!! I've become a pretty big fan of the Manga Classics and this one was as good as ever. |
I found this particular graphic novel a little bit confusing. I kept getting the sisters mixed up because they looked a bit similar. It also felt like it jumped around a lot. I do think this was a good adaptation though. I flew through reading this, and felt very content with the way the story was handled. This is a book that probably should be read after reading the text version of Sense and Sensibility to avoid any confusion. |
I loved this version of Sense and Sensability! It was a quick read and the art was beautiful. I really enjoyed the dialogue and the rendition of the characters. |
I love reading manga and watching anime.. So when I saw a classic adapted into a manga I got excited.. Some scenes were taken/revised and that is very much understandable and it is still a fine adaptaion.. Good job if you ask me! |
