A tale of family, relationships, love. At the Wayfair Inn in Ohio, Linnie is the first daughter in Wayfair history. Every previous generation only had a male heir. After her rascal brother takes money from her parents and leaves town, Linnie is forced to take care of the Inn herself with her close friends. But her parents still don't think Linnie should run the Inn, it should fall to her brother, since that's what the Wayfair men are supposed to do.

Will Linnie's brother return to run the Inn? Will Linnie finally get involved with her long friend, Daniel?

I really enjoyed this story. I enjoyed the story line and I enjoyed the colorful cast of characters in the town. It was cute. I'm looking forward to the second book in the series!

I started reading Christine Nolfi's stories four years ago. I always find myself absorbed in her stories as she beautifully writes about true to life characters. She never fails to describe the the settings in such a way that you want to be there yourself. Christine certainly knows how to tell a story.

I'm not going to go into the storyline as the blurb gives you enough and I don't want to spoil the story for you. What I will say is I found this story had a great storyline with lovely likeable characters.

If your looking for a really good well written story then I highly recommend this read. In my opinion it is faultless.

Although my reading taste has changed over the years Christine Nolfi's stories are like a comfort blanket to me. When I'm having a down day or a book hangover I seem to find myself re reading one of her stories.

I'm looking forward to reading more of the Sweet Lake series.

Hold on to your hats! If you don’t, it’ll surely be blown away by the eccentric batch of nutty older ladies known as the Sirens. (Nothing wrong with being a nutty older lady – I am one myself, after all) but this batch is particularly concerned (read: nosy) and active (read: fantasy-oriented), although their intentions are always good. Their motto is ‘Do kindness in secret’.

The Wayfair is a resort hotel on a lake in Mid-Southern Ohio, having been in the same family since its inception in the previous century. It has been handed down to the only child throughout its history – always a son, as the family was not very prolific until the most recent generation, which has produced a son Freddie, and a daughter Linnie. Freddie has zero interest in the hotel, becoming a respected indie-film producer, while Linnie has lived her entire life in service to the family tradition, and cannot imagine herself doing anything else.

That description doesn’t begin to explain the enormous split between the siblings, or the torturous relationship between the parents and the kids. The parents want Linnie to reconcile with her brother, she just wants to keep the Wayfair alive. Then there’s the fact that she has no love life – nor time to develop one, being unable to see the treasure that’s right in front of her – the local, very sexy attorney Daniel Kettering.

When the blow-up between Linnie and Freddie happens, all she can think of is the massive betrayal by everyone she thought was a friend. And then Mom pays a visit. Still, there’s something to be said for just hanging on for dear life, while hoping that somehow, it’ll all come out right in the end. As it does.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters are people you’d like for friends (even if they are a tad scatty around the edges at times) and nearly everyone approaches life with a smile. Humor abounds as well.
I think The Wayfair would be a fabulous place for a vacation! You just might, too.

I really enjoyed this book! Linnie runs her family's inn the Wayfair. Her brother Freddie years ago took off and took all the family's money. Linnie has been running the inn and it has consumed her life. Now Freddie is back and the family drama is on! There is a group of older women, the Sirens, that want to protect Linnie and show her there is more to life than work. Daniel has loved Linnie for years but Linnie thinks they are just friends. This is a wonderful story of family, friendship, and love. I can't wait to read all the books in this series! Thank you to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for an ARC of this book for an honest opinion.

Such a sweet story with characters we fell in love with. Unfortunately, there's just too much sexual content for our readers.

I could not put this book down. The way Christine Nolfi paints a story, the detail of not only the characters but the rich landscape she creates pulls the reader in immediately and holds them there. The complexity of each character, of each circumstance is powerful. I immediately related to the background story of Linnie, the protagonist. I felt an emotional connection to her thoughts, her struggles in life, and her fears. Freddie, the antagonist, I just wanted to reach out and slap him. I will not say more than that, you have to read the book to find out why. Then there are the Sirens, love those Sirens. There are twists and turns that kept me hooked throughout this novel, but I would expect no less from such a gifted writer as Nolfi. This novel has heart and I feel confident to say it will touch your heart.

Sweet Lake is the first installment in Christine Nolfi new fiction series. Set in the fictional town of Sweet Lake, Ohio we find heroine Melinda Petronia Wayfair (Linnie) barely holding her family's Wayfair Inn in the black after many years barely making it. Seven years prior Linnie's brother Freddie cleaned out the family accounts to begin his film business in L.A. Soon after, her father suffered a stroke and her parents retired to Florida, leaving Linnie literally holding the bag.

Much to her dismay, she had to let people go, cut back the repairs, and close down areas of the historic inn. In turn, the economic effect on Sweet Lake was disastrous. Linnie felt responsible for so much angst in her community. She then learned that even after all her work, long days, lack of personal life, her brother was co-owner or the inn and at a certain point he would have the option of buying her out and there was nothing she could do. When Freddie arrives in Sweet Lake, Linnie fears he is there to force her out.

Enter the voodoo hi-jinx of the Sweet Lake Sirens, the match making efforts of her two best friends Cat and Jada, and the unending support of attorney Daniel Kettering, and you have a story of friendship, loving support, and budding romance. Plus, you watch the transformation of Linnie from lady who hates conflict to lady who stands her ground and comes out on top.

With engaging characters, lovely setting, and enough twists and turns to keep the reader guessing, Sweet Lake is a well written novel. I do recommend this book.

I received and advanced copy from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

The beautiful cover drew me to this book and I loved the idea of a small resort town by a lake with a struggling inn trying to make ends meet. Unfortunately, I had a really hard time getting into the story and connecting with the characters. Linnie who was portrayed as being strong and the town’s savior, frustrated me in that she would not stand up for herself, face reality or acknowledge her feelings for Daniel or her brother Freddie who was just one giant cad. And I usually love quirky characters but the town "sirens" were a little too unbelievable. The scene with them poking Freddie with sticks sealed the deal for me. The saving grace were the two brothers - Daniel and Patrick - they seemed genuine and I enjoyed their interaction with each other, with Patrick’s daughter and with Daniel’s dog.

Even though I had struggles there are many others who loved Sweet Lake so give it a try and make your own decision.

A perfect title for a great read. It's a wonderful romance that has Linnie Wayfare choosing between her family and her happiness. Her parents thought they were making a good decision by leaving the family Inn to Linnie and her brother 50/50 so Freddie could take over the business when he returns to Ohio. This will leave Linnie out in the cold since they are not close. The town folks and especially Daniel who has always loved Linnie want to help her keep the Inn. With a terrific secondary cast of charaters there are lots of potential books in the Sweet Lake Series. I'm glad Linnie took a stand and made a stand after a wishy washy beginning.

First, thank you to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for the opportunity to read this novel by Christina Nolfi. I admit to being a fan of hers, but I have to say even if I'd never heard of her, I would be amazed by this story!

Linnie Wayfair has a stigma attached to her that she can't escape. She's a girl. And her family inn has always been passed down to the son in the family. However, in this case, there are mitigating circumstances why her brother should not own the inn. I don't believe in retelling the story, so I'll just leave it there.

The plot moves quickly, the characters are believable and likeable/despicable, depending on the relationships and circumstances. I laughed and cried and simply couldn't put this book down! Christina Nolfi is an author who can really tell a story!

Sweet Lake is a delightful romance. The book is very well written, it had a great plot and well developed characters. I loved the characters even their conflicts. The serving is Sweet Lake a small town that relies on The Wayfair Inn to keep it alive. The Wayfair has fallen into disrepair can Sugarpop save it? This was my first book by this author but not my last.

Sweet Lake is a novel that I want to, no need to, share with family and friends. It is a coming of age story, even though both Linnie and Freddie are both older than the typical coming of age characters. It is a story of family, love, and determination. Ms. Nolfi's characters are quirky and so much fun. I can't wait to read the next book in this series, and I desperately want to be a Siren!
