This book is absolutely adorable. I honestly approved and can’t wait to see more of this author. Is a hidden/maybe not so hidden gem. Love it. I only can say good things about it. |
I thought this was a fun story, it reminded me of the movie While You Were Sleeping (in this case it should be called While You Were Working). Kennedy never knew stability growing up, her mom jumped from relationship to relationship and Kennedy is determined to not make the same mistakes her mother mad. So when her own matching program matches her to Justin, she is determined to see it through. Even though she is more drawn to Matt. |
Wrong Brother, Right Match was a sweet & entertaining read. It is the 3rd book in the Anyone But You series but can be read as a stand alone. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. |
I love this story it gives me so much warm feelings. I like to read romance stories and this one I will be reading again. |

I loved this book. First of all its set at Christmas, my favourite time of the year. Secondly the romance between Kennedy and Justin is so obviously not right, they seem more friends then lovers. I feel for Kennedy so much, her desire for a family to call her own, plus not wanting her match making business to fail. Is clouding her judgement on what a perfect match is. After having a sizzling kiss in an elevator with a handsome stranger, Kennedy is determined to forget all about it. Until she goes home with Justin for Christmas, and who should she bump into but the handsome stranger aka Matt who is Justin's brother. Kennedy is besides herself when they meet again. She desperately wanted to fit into this family. Now it looks like it might not happen. Matt is determined to forget about his feelings for her. This isn't easy when Matt is called home for business and suggests that Kennedy stay behind and Matt look after her. Can they control their feelings? Will everyone have a happy ending? I highly recommend picking up a copy. ARC received from net galley in exchange for an honest review. |
Title: Wrong Brother, Right Match Series: anyone but you Author: Jennifer Shirk Genre: Romance ISBN: 9781633757806 What a fun read full of drama, mixed emotions, family love, what is important and putting others first. Kennedy has a lot to learn about relationships she is sure she knows what it takes to make the perfect match after all it worked on her. What she finds is sometimes being so much alike might not be the right match. This is a story about getting to know yourself what you need, want and expect from your mate as well as finding the perfect match not only for yourself but for others. Yes her program works but programs can only be so right they don’t add in emotions and feelings. For Kennedy she will have a hard long road to find out which man is her perfect match as emotions and hearts battle will the perfect man please stand up. Kennedy was a character you could relate to easy she has had a hard life growing up and doesn’t want to have the relationships her mother had. She wants her children to have everything she did not and Justin looks like the perfect fit until one chance meeting, an elevator add a bottle of champagne with a hot man and tongues let lose in more ways than one has her rethinking everything in her life. Matt always does what is expected everyone leans on him and he takes care of all issues putting his life on the back burn. He is ok with this, loves his life that all changed with one kiss now he wants more. He does his best to put his family first even when he finds the perfect women for him at his home with his brother. The lady from the elevator is right before his eyes hanging on his brother lord can things get any worse. I thought this was a cute read that really pulls you in. Each try their best to keep things light but Justin just isn’t making things easy. I really didn’t want to like Justin but it is hard not to with all the emotional baggage he is carrying around after his father’s death he needs to rethink his life and put others before his self before he loses the women he loves. Matt tries so hard to walk away but it is just too hard with her being there at every turn. Kennedy has way too much on the line to even thing about changing men at this time. She can’t afford to be wrong or her business will go down the drain. I really felt for all these characters. No matter which ways she goes she loses putting a family at each other. What an emotional mess. I thought this was well written, believable, I had to trouble believing this could really happen. It was a cute fun read, at times I chuckled and other times I held my breath just waiting for the worse to happen. Kennedy’s speech really got to me as it did so many others. It was from the heart, painful but honest. I loved the supporting characters the family was just a delight. I love the humor between family members which reminds me so much of my own. There is no doubt this has a very emotional pull and leaves your torn at times. I am looking forward to see what else this author comes up with. |
This is a sweet, fun and romantic read. This is a perfect holiday read. The characters are fantastic, you will fall in love with them from the first page. I just couldn't put this book down till id got to the last page, then I was left wanting more. The more I read from this author the better the stories get. I cant wait to read more from this author in the future. Highly recommended I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book. |
WRONG BROTHER, RIGHT MATCH is a charming novella perfect for holiday romance reading. It's third in the Anyone but You series, but I just discovered the series and enjoyed the story anyway.
Kennedy is enjoying some success with her matchmaking service and even met her boyfriend when it was starting. She wants a family someday, but all she has is her cousin Trent who you meet in the previous book. While in Vegas, she is trapped in an elevator with a handsome and sexy stranger named Matt. He calms her down while she nearly panics and shares the bottle he had brought for a hot date. They talk for a bit while waiting for rescue, and being a little tipsy confesses that she has doubts about her relationship with her boyfriend. Moments later, they share an unforgettable kiss right before their rescue. When the doors open, Kennedy makes her escape.
Months later, who does Matt's workaholic brother Justin bring home for Christmas, but Kennedy, his new fiance. Then Justin is called back to work and he decides Kennedy should stay and get to know his family. And Matt's not too happy either. He doesn't trust Kennedy and he is protective of his family.
Kennedy is an adorable character. She's sweet and wants her business to thrive, but she wants love and family most. She told Justin about the kiss in the elevator and they worked thru that, but when she spends time with Matt while he's gone, she becomes confused. She cares for Justin who is a nice guy, but he takes her for granted and she lets a lot slide while ignoring her doubts. Matt is hard on Kennedy at first, but he hasn't forgotten the girl in the elevator whose glasses slid down her nose nor the kiss they shared. And as Justin's absence prolongs and Christmas approaches, the more they learn to care about each other.
The story touches the heart. It's about family life with it's up and downs, and the main couple eventually have to do some serious soul searching. And of course, it's about finding that someone who makes you feel like forever is within reach. Kennedy and Matt's story is a breezy holiday read filled with fun and engaging characters, sparkling chemistry, and the joys of finding love with the right somebody at Christmas. This is my first time reading Ms Shirk, but it won't be my last.

I enjoyed reading this book. Kennedy Pepperdine wanted everything perfect in her life. It was so perfect that she was cracking. Enter a perfect kiss with a stranger. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Only that perfect kiss didn't stay in Vegas. Justin, the fiance, was perfect for Kennedy. On paper they were perfect, two of a kind. Matt, the brother, was the polar opposite. He likes things messy. What it all boils down to is chocolate and wine. |
Wrong Brother, Right Match was a sweet holiday story with a whole lot of sexual tension and a bit of holiday magic. A crazy chance meeting between two strangers comes back in to play as the two meet again when she comes “home” with his brother for the holidays. This was a crazy mixed up story and I did enjoy the story, I just would have liked more time with the hero and heroine actually together. Kennedy Pepperdine believes her life is on track, well mostly. She’s a bit concerned about her matchmaking business, but her engagement to Justin Ellis a man who she met through her own dating software is a dream come true and so is heading out for a long vacation with his family. What she doesn’t expect is to find out the man she shared a bottle of champagne and a kiss with in an elevator in Vegas is her soon to be brother in law, Matt. This was a bit of an unusual romance in that while Kennedy is engaged to Justin, his workaholic tendencies and their lack of “zing” has her questioning everything especially when the chemistry between her and Matt is so apparent. When Justin ditches her with his family to go back to the city for his job she spends a lot of time with his mom, sister and Matt and falls a little bit in love with them all which makes her feel guilty and excited. I loved watching her interact with the family and holy cow was the tension between her and Matt thick and yes, I was rooting for them and no, they didn’t do anything that made her a cheater, but I hated that we really didn’t get to spend very much time with her and Matt as an actual couple. Wrong Brother, Right Match was an enjoyable and entertaining holiday story. |
This book felt like one of those cheesy Christmas movies you can find on tv during the holidays. Which is not necessarily bad, you just need to be in the mood for it to enjoy it. As a matter of fact, I did enjoy the story as it was as corny as I expected. But it was also predictable and the main character was a bit too cringy for my liking. I was looking for Christmas romance books but if I'm being honest, what made me click on the request button was the blurb. Kennedy has developed a matchmaking software and is starting her matchmaking company. She tests the software on herself and finds the perfect man, Justin. When Kennedy goes to a convention in Vegas, she gets stuck in an elevator with Matt, who is far from perfect but to whom she feels instant attraction. Sparks fly, he kisses her, she runs away and... Six months later Kennedy and Justin go to spend the holidays with his family and - surprise - Matt is Justin's brother! You see, this is corny and cheesy in the best and worst way at the same time. The problem is that I didn't really connect with Kennedy, and quite honestly, I found her infuriating at times. She would indulge Justin just about anything. And let me tell you, Justin's character was so inconsiderate it felt like Kennedy would allow that behaviour just for the sake of the story. All the stars are really for Matt, who I obviously fell for in 5 seconds (that's my MO with love interests). |
Actual rating: 3.5
This was a cute Christmas romance. Kennedy (we met her in the previous Anyone But You book) is the CEO of a software-based matchmaking company. She has had a lot of success and is ready to take her company to the next level, using her own success story with her boyfriend as the prime example.
However, things are not as perfect as they may look on the outside. Kennedy and Justin are compatible on paper, but Justin is a workaholic and has less and less time for Kennedy with a new promotion on the horizon.
Enter meet cute with our hero. She meets a handsome stranger and gets stuck with him on an elevator while at a conference in Vegas. Attraction is there and they end up kissing, but once Kennedy "comes to her senses" when the elevator is fixed, she brushes it off as an anxiety-induced bad decision. And thankfully she'll never have to see the guy again...
WRONG. Six months later she finds out that her stranger is her now-fiancé's brother. Whoops! ;) And the story takes off from there.
This one started out strong with their fun meet cute. But as the story went on, I felt like there could have been more tension, but most of the "tension" was portrayed in their thoughts. So I liked it, just probably would have loved it more if there had been more actual tension instead of perceived tension in their inner dialogue.
I liked the characters (although Kennedy should have dumped Justin long before she did...) Caitlyn was a fun side character ("this is snapchat worthy!" Ha!) And Matt's mom was endearing. And maybe Mia will get her own story?
All in all this was a cute story. If you enjoy sweet Christmas romances, you'll like this one!
Side note: I know it's probably a stock photo, but it bothered me that Kennedy doesn't have glasses on in the picture on the cover! But that would probably only bug me. ;)
