Description

Charleston antiques dealer Audrey Parrish attends an auction preview at Wren Song plantation, hoping to find relics from her past. Instead, she snags her hand on a bedpost splintered by a musket ball and finds herself at the plantation at the exact moment the shot is fired.

Confederate officer Matthew Orrick is staying in the vacant overseer's cabin while recovering from a battle wound. Audrey is captivated by him, but falling in love is not an option. Altering Matt's destiny would impact the fate of generations yet to be born.

After Matt discovers Audrey's true identity, he demands she abandon her attempts to return to her own time. But Audrey's feelings for him conflict with her concern for the lives that will be erased if she stays.

When an eleventh hour opportunity arises, Audrey has only seconds to weigh her decision – stay with the man she loves, or return to set her own world right?

This book was phenomenal and carried me back in time along with the characters. It was beautifully written with thoughtful detail given to the Civil War era. I connected with Audrey immediately. I highly encourage all historical fiction lovers to read this book!

Looking for a romantic, time travel story? A SPLINTER IN TIME by Linda Shelby delivers. A surprising twist keeps it from being just another time travel/star crossed lovers tale. Definitely recommend.

Audrey is cast back in time while attending an auction at a plantation and finds a love in a wounded confederate soldier. She must come to terms to stay in the past or risk changing the future. Love the civil war setting and time travel is also a favorite when well written like this tale is. This is the first book I've read by this author and will be looking up some more tales.
Ebook from Netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.

I was given the opportunity to read this egalley in exchange for a fair and unbiased review. A Splinter in Time is an easy to read time travel novel. When antiques dealer Audrey goes to her family home to check on furniture before an auction, she finds herself near Charleston during the Civil War in her pregnant ancestor's body. Audrey falls in love with Matt, but before the baby is born, she must make a decision that will affect her relationship with Matt and the future of her relatives. I would like to read more novels by Linda Shelby, as this was quite moving.

I was grateful to receive a free copy of A Splinter in Time. Usually, I am not into time travel romances, but this was a very well written and easy to follow story line. The characters were well developed and Linda Shelby did a great job of finishing the story line. I would recommend this book to friends and and family.

this book was fun to read, I liked the characters and the story line was very good. Real world situations made it believable. At times it felt a little stiff to me. It was well worth a read if you like a little bit of mystery and crime and a lot of romance.

I actually enjoyed this book a lot. It was very original in that when Audrey time traveled she actually wound up sharing a body with her ancestor and that is quite different from most time travel books. I was a little frustrated with Audrey's nonchalance about the dangers of the civil war. She wanted to see everything so bad that she was willing to put herself and others in danger and I thought she was a bit selfish for that. For the most part her character was very likeable and I was hoping that she would get to go home and see Hartley and Leigh again. All in all this was a good read.
