What he didn’t expect was the Greek god with the face of the Marlboro man who is his main competitor for the artwork.

Duncan never expected to meet such a powerful and commanding man in such a small package. He likes it, really likes it!  Frederick can give him something he desperately needs. But are they playing around? Is something deeper developing? Or is Duncan still trying to get an angle on the work of art that he lost at the auction... or embracing a worthy opponent?

I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review. Loved the short story. Very sexual and highly erotic.

The sexual chemistry was off the charts, and the sex scenes depicted were pretty epic, but I would have appreciated a bit more depth to the characters and a lot more development in the relationship. It was too short to truly be appreciated.

This short read is different from most Andrew Grey books that I have previously read. I enjoyed it, but I suspect that some of the author's fans might find this book to be a little too different for their tastes.

Frederick has his store and is quite happy with his life. A wealthy client asks him to purchase a portrait from an auction for her. It's at the auction that Frederick crosses paths with Duncan. Frederick is in his element at the auction, and later when he heads to a club to find some company.

I liked Frederick. He was confident and knew what he wanted. Frederick likes to be in control. At first, Duncan seemed to be a bit of a puzzle to me. He comes in with a twink to the auction, but quickly seems to surrender in Fredrick's presence. It's clear that Frederick sees something in Duncan and gives him a night that blows his mind. Neither initially pushes for more than their one night.

As this is a short story, things move quickly. The story has some interesting twists, like Frederick being a Dom to a larger man. The story of the portrait that they both bid on was a nice addition as well. A nicely done novella with some hot scenes in it as well.

Auction Action
Andrew Grey
4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Short M/M erotica story where Frederick finds a tall, dark, and handsome man at the auction. They are both there bidding on the same painting. Frederick wins the painting and meets tall dar and handsome Duncan at the bar after the auction.
Duncan wants the painting but realizes he wants Frederick more. Their relationship quickly turns from lust to love.
Thanks NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

Frederick is an antiques dealer and artwork is part of his success. He's asked by a client to attend an auction to purchase a painting. There he meets Duncan, who wants the same painting.  That night after the auction, where Frederick beat him, Duncan sees him in a club.  Sparks are flying. Who will make the first move?? Deciding to put business aside, Frederick vows to give Duncan what he so craves.

After that night neither can keep the other out of their heads. They decide to give each other a whirl and have a go at a D/s relationship.

Ok, for such a short story, there was a lot that happened. The story was original and I liked the way they met and how their relationship developed from that very first insane attraction.

The biggest inconsistency, though, is the height differential. Frederick is said to be 4'8" and less than 100 pounds, and Duncan is described as being "a tall and stunning figure with the face of the Marlboro Man and what appeared to be the body of a Greek God in a tuxedo". I would guess anyone could be taller than Frederick, but I would guess Duncan to be around 6' tall.  There is no possible way for Duncan to lean his head back on Frederick's shoulder if they were standing. You are looking at over a foot difference! Even sitting would be a stretch for that matter.

And Yes, there were some things that didn't click right with their Dom/sub dynamic, but it was their relationship, and whose to say what is right and what is wrong, as long as both want the same things. Right!

Overall, I felt this story was entertaining and alluring.

For a 35 page novella, this was a surprisingly good story. It's two men who meet at an auction. One man wins a painting that the other wants. Then they meet again at a gay bar and enter into a... relationship? Maybe? It's an incredibly short story and I don't go for erotica but for the length, etc. ... not a bad way to spend 15 minutes.

Three and a half stars

liked this one,but it is really short, only a couple off chapters.
It tells the story, but I rather reed a full length novell by Andrew Grey.
Auction Action is a nice bit off fluff.

Well I admit I was curious, a 98 page BDSM story by Andrew Grey? It was an interesting study in a meet-cute and I actually did buy the attraction between them.

The guys were both quirky characters, especially Frederick. He definitely works as the petite but confident Dom and I can see a host of possibilities for this character. His actions/reactions were intriguing and I liked the way he interacted with the other characters in the story.

Duncan was more of an enigma. He shows up at the beginning with a flamboyant twink in tow, but folds faster than an American dollar when he gets a load of 'Freddie's' masterful ways.

There's a fun little story to go along with the descriptive sex... all in all it was an easy way to spend a little time with Andrew Grey.

This book is a MM short story. It was an extremely quick read and I really enjoyed it. It is set in the ultra-rich world of high dollar auctions. The characters are interesting and the story moved at a great pace. Overall a great short story.

Loved this little story! It was short but oh my it held a bunch of sexiness.

Frederick and Duncan meet at an auction and are bidding on the same object...a painting.
Huge amounts of money are involved.
Duncan is like a Greek god thát beautiful! And Frederick is an impressive man, impressive not by his length but by his air of strength.
Overbid by Frederick Duncan is left alone without the painting. But....they meet again.

Duncan is overwhelmed by Frederick's personality. I'm not gonna spoil.

We can behold some nice erotic scenes, with some impressive outcomes. But there is more...there is a very nice little story behind this all. I loved both men, together they were strong and forwarded.

Great short and well written story.

*Copy provided to Bayou Book Junkie by NetGalley for my reading pleasure in hopes of an unbiased opinion, a review was not a requirement.*

Though I've read many books of Andrew Grey's, this is the second one I've read through NetGalley, and like the first, it's different than a typical Andrew Grey book. This was a 98 page novella, so a lot happens in a short time, especially when you're finding a HEA for two strangers. And for those that are a fan of BDSM, and I'm not, you'll want to read this novella.

When Frederick attends a charity auction for a client, he can't help but notice the man bidding against him. After a successful transaction, Frederick dons his leather and heads to the club. While at the club, his attention is drawn to Duncan, the man from the auction. Frederick takes Duncan home and teaches him that size can be deceiving. Duncan has never experienced before what he did with Frederick and wants more. Frederick agrees but both men get more from their playtime than expected.

As with all books by this author, it's steamy but I'm not a fan of BDSM, so for me, I moved quickly through the sex scenes between Frederick and Duncan. Something this novella did was reverse the typical dom/alpha type person. Frederick is small and Duncan is not, but Frederick was the man in control and I liked that the author didn't let this fall into the typical big man is the alpha dynamic. This was a very quick read and I thought this ended with a solid HEA. I think for anyone interested in dom/sub, one MC being called "Sir", and controlling in the bedroom, you'll want to pick this novella up.

Fredrick Holloway is a dealer in French antiques in Milwaukee. A favored client contracts him to purchase a painting at an auction as a way to keep the buyer’s anonymity. She’d been a rival of the deceased woman whose estate in on the block. While there, Fredrick notices a sexy man is also interested in the same piece of art. Fredrick, an experienced buyer, takes a strategic position and ends up winning the piece at a great discount to his client. Feeling high on the experience, diminutive Fredrick goes out on the town, and manages to meet his auction adversary, Duncan, in the same leather-type bar. Fredrick makes it clear that coming home with him will require some level of submission, and Duncan’s down for it.

They have a great night, more so than Duncan could have dreamed. He’s a wealthy man, but his youth was marked by distant parents and a parade of nannies and boarding schools. He desires a partner who is compassionate and passionate; Fredrick seems to fit the bill. He’s also curious about the purchaser of the painting, as the subject was Duncan’s great-grandmother. His family wanted the painting for their gallery, and his inquiries to Fredrick lead to some intrigue, but not much. Both men handle the situation with respect and dignity, which leads Duncan to seek Fredrick out again. And again.

For a novella, this is a meaty read, and that’s not just a pun about the sexytimes. We get to see Duncan and Fredrick build a rapport and that leads to a relationship that is built on mutual respect. They are a sweet odd couple, and I found the flipped power dynamic interesting and fun. This is a novella that was published in originally in 2012, and recently republished. If you’re looking for the slow burn romance Andrew Grey is typically known for, you won’t find it here. Quick and dirty, with a sweet side that charmed me.

Short hot read!

Auction Action was originally published back in 2012 and it feels quite a bit different from Andrew Grey's current work. I enjoyed reading it but not nearly as much as his more recent books.

Frederick is a small man but he's got a big presence and it was no surprise to find out that he's a dom in the bedroom. (This isn't a BDSM story.) He has his own business as an antique dealer and he also provides other services to his clients including proxy bidding at auctions.

Frederick meets Duncan at an auction where he is representing a client; they both want to purchase the same painting. They run into each other again at a bar and spend the night together.

The sex scenes in this book are really hot. I didn't really feel a lot of romantic chemistry between the two MCs but I found the story enjoyable and not a bad way to spend an evening reading.

A review copy was provided by the publisher via NetGalley but this did not influence my opinion or rating of the book.

Smoking hot scenes for such a small novella. Would have preferred more character development but still an enjoyable.

A short book but it was a fun read. I would’ve liked more substance to the story, but I enjoyed it nevertheless and the characters were believable. A low angst story perfect for a summer afternoon.

When the blurb said short story it really meant short story! It didn’t take me anytime at all to finish it. But i enjoyed the short fast paced read.

Auction Action by Andrew Grey

The only reason I did not give this 5 Stars is that I wished it was LONGER!! I read Frederic & Duncan’s story in just a few hours!! I love that a chance meeting at an antique auction turned out to be so much more - a loving true ❤️ & committed relationship !!

Great story - great read !!

This is a slightly higher heat short from Andrew Grey. Definitely worth the read!

Auction Action by author Andrew Grey is a fast-paced emotion fill read. I really liked this one. I would like for there to be more books with these two in it. I feel they have much more to tell us. Or at least another story around the painting. There is something there.
Frederick is a successful antique dealer. He works very hard. He is attending a charity auction to purchase a painting for one of his higher-end customers.
He is also a dominant.
Duncan is a submissive. He is a wealthy man also interested in the painting. He has not had a whole lot of love in his childhood. So he is looking for love now.
These two together are a really sweet couple. They each have what the other needs. I also liked how the painting and lore were used. Overall a fast-paced great read.

Five Shooting Stars

I enjoyed this book. Because I enjoyed Frederick. And even though Frederick's short stature is unusual for the hero (4' 8"), he is elegant and his dominate masculinity is sexy. For me, he out shined all other characters, even his love interest Duncan (the Greek god). I really enjoyed the sexy times, the intimate moments and the tension. I've given it three stars because the length of the story sacrifices the depth of the story. In the end, I read for happy endings that are earned and this one left me wanting to know what made Duncan special enough to win the love of someone as dynamic as Frederick.

As always any book by Andrew Grey is a guaranteed satisfying read! The book even though it was a short read was hot! Frederick and Duncan were great characters with a slight Bdsm touch. I highly recommend this book.

Frederick likes to keep his clients happy, so when one of best and important clients asks him to attend an auction to acquire a painting for her, he plans to do everything he can to get the picture. Unfortunately, Frederick doesn't expect Duncan, who is also competing for the same painting.

This was a good book, a lot of story packed into a short book, the story was pretty fast paced. Frederick and Duncan were well rounded characters that each had a story to tell. While it was fast paced, it seemed to be a bit fast, A lot of things happened in a short story, which at times made it seem unrealistic.

I loved this book. I finished it in one sitting and I couldn't put it down. You know how you read something and it stays on your mind days later. The sex scenes were very hot and sexy and I can understand why Duncan kept coming back. It was short and to the point.

Very enjoyable M/M Romance. Smart, sexy -- focus on the erotic. The characters come through with the great writing by Andrew Grey. Their deep passionate longings are so casually hidden behind their public/professional demeanor-- seeing what's underneath is a thrill. Don't blink because this story moves fast, right to the punch. A little sub/dom action is always hot.
