This is a charming, colorful cookbook and beginner's guide to becoming a vegan.

The book begins with twenty-five pages of myth-dispelling and encouragement. Recipes are suitable for any skill level, and there is a convenient 'one pot cooking' section. There are also guidelines for easier travelling, and tips on sustainable vegan clothes selection and care, and information on cosmetics testing and ingredients. Also, there is a chapter on entertaining and introducing friends to vegan cuisine, complete with recipes that would appeal to omnivores.

Due to the playful font of recipe titles, pink 'coaching corner' advice, and tips sprinkled frequently throughout, this seems to be aimed at the newly vegan teen. The recipes are on-trend, and they optimize flavour, which is great when people are trying vegan food for the first time.

I especially liked that the sweet section was titled 'Chocolate and other pleasures,' and the very complicated recipe for vegan 'buttah.' Cute!

This would be a great gift for any young person looking to try a vegan lifestyle. The extensive bibliography and resource list is valuable for those who wish to explore further after reading this book. Loved it!

This cookbook is perfect! Whether you are a new vegan or if had some time with this life style.
Beyond the recipes it has an introduction to veganism, tips and tricks to cook, the recipes are divided into to categories: the first one using ingredients that we surely have at home and the second one requires more gourmet/expensive type of ingredients.

This is a fabulous book, set to become a new favourite. A great balance of information for people who are vegan- curious, or seeking to consolidate beginner knowledge, with recipes that will suit even the life long vegan. Immensely readable, full of advice and wisdom, the recipes range from salads, choices for social occasions, one pot meals to sweet treats. A great feature of this book is recommendations as to other vegan cookbooks that you may want to try- because if you're like me, 100 plant based cook books just isn't enough. As always with Netgalley review books that I adore, I'll be buying a hard copy of this to add to my collection.

I requested this mainly off the beautiful, stunning cover. As usual with BenBella, the book is wonderfully designed with wonderful pictures and brilliant layout.

The recipes are written by lots of different cooks and as such there will be something for everybody in here; but this also means that there will be recipes that do not appeal.

I maybe should have taken the title more seriously – because this is indeed more of book for people just starting out with both cooking and eating vegan. While I usually eat vegetarian, I often cook vegan as well and as such I am not really in need of indepth explanations. I still think the little tips (“coaching corner”) added throughout the book are going to be helpful for people trying to ease into a vegan lifestyle and I can see this being popular with a different customer.

I enjoyed this book and thought it was well presented. Although I am not vegan, I have done vegan weeks here and there. The recipes are thought out and include things that wouldn't be too hard to buy. I liked the 'background' information the author presented on the history of veganism.

Well..I loved it! I also listen to Victoria's podcast and enjoy it quite a lot. This fits my style and taste. I have seen some mixed reviews. I think it is up to the individual. I have been plant based for a year now. I did transition to a vegan diet for animal cruelty reasons. I have no problem with that being a primary reason why anyone or any cookbook would provide me with an education on how to go or be vegan. This does feel like it is a good source for anyone thinking or or just transitioning to a plant based diet. I am in agreement that a plant based diet is the healthiest one on the planet, absolutely one you can thrive on. I have experienced that myself. I used to eat a lot of vegan processed and junk food. My health got way better once I gave up a lot of the processed foods. I do have them still from time to time. But with cookbooks like this and many others available now....one does not need processed foods to enjoy eating. Vegan cooking has come a long way and is easy and affordable!

I am thrilled to have this book in my library. I feel very grateful to NetGalley and the publisher for an opportunity to have read this in exchange for a review. I highly recommend it. Not only does it have many scrumptious recipes, but lots of info for living an ethical vegan life. It's a great go to source for me these days...and right on my kindle.

They weren’t kidding when the title of this book noted the “practical tips” included in this cookbook! The Main Street Vegan Academy was filled with tips from vegan lifestyle coaches, and as a vegetarian who eats vegan meals occasionally, there were helpful things to learn. I also LOVED the colorful and appetizing pictures of the recipes. I bookmarked a few things to make, and there were definitely some new ideas I plan to incorporate.

A couple things that I wasn’t as fond of — many recipes included vegan milks, cheeses, and faux meats, and I don’t eat these things, so I was trying to figure out substitutes. Also, several (though not all) recipes included a lengthy ingredient list.

I would love to see another cookbook done in this style, but without the processed foods and more simple recipes included because I think it would be incredible!

Thank you to Victoria Moran, J.L. Fields, BenBella Publishing, and Netgalley for the complimentary copy to review.

I was so excited to get this cookbook to review. I am just beginning my vegan journey and this is one of the first cookbooks with recipes that appeal to me. I want to try a large percentage of the recipes. I'm going to start with Uncle Wayne's Cookies, then the Asian Coleslaw Bites, the Brooklyn Barley Soup, the Crazy Spicy Spanish Omelet and so on and so forth. There is a wealth of vegan information in the front of the book that covers many aspects of veganism, not just food. Looking forward to this cookbook rapidly becoming a favorite.

This is a great vegan recipe book for anybody new to the vegan way of living. It gives an insightful introduction into vegan views on subjects like ethics and human rights which I think is unusual for a cookbook. I also enjoyed the little 'coaching corner' boxes which add more information and quotations. The photography in this book is inspiring and colourful, I just wish there was more of it! The images are very spread out, I felt that for a few of the recipes I was missing out on seeing what the dish could look like. Apart from this small issue, this is one of the better vegan cookbooks I have come across and would recommend it to anybody interested in becoming vegan. From lasagne to stir fry salads, this book confirms that becoming vegan does not mean giving up your favourite meals!

Loved the colorful cover on this book! It's what captured my attention along with just becoming Vegan in Oct 2017.
That being said.... this is a colorful vegan cookbook filled with many wonderful recipes!
I can't wait to try some of these and hope my family loves them!

A educational cookbook. Some great vegan recipes, beautiful images and delicious looking recipes. Well structured, with chapter pages that list the recipes within it. There is a good selection of traditional recipes made vegan along with new ideas. There is also sections spread out that contain information or tips on living the vegan lifestyle. The first two chapters are for myth busting and understanding the basic principles, which is well written and not judgemental. I liked it!

Awesome book - might be the best vegan all in one material I've stumbled upon. Honestly I can't recommend this higher - the advice on lifestyle changes, the practical approach, the recipes - everything is top notch, pretentious free and written in an easily digestible way.
