Ladies, if you crave intimacy with your husband, and you're not sure where to start in bringing about change in your marriage, pick up a copy of Lucille Williams' book, "The Intimacy You Crave: Straight Talk about Sex and Pancakes." Her biblical, humorous and practical book offers plenty of fuel for increasing intimacy in your marriage.

Williams' fun expressions for "sex" will keep you chuckling throughout the book as she takes you on a journey of discovery. The book is divided into four main parts--Straight Talk, Hindrances, Understanding His Sexuality, and Bringing it All Together. Squashed inside those four parts, Williams covers all kinds of topics from body image to sexual abuse and it's impact on marriage, how men are visual creatures, and what to do to "keep the engine running," and more. So much more. She tackles issues of pornography and what's acceptable and gives sound biblical reasoning for her statements.

While I'm not sure I agree with her reason for writing the book, I think Williams ended up with a good manual nonetheless. As the wife of a children's pastor, her heart is to prevent the devastation of divorce in the lives of children. I get that, but we should be all about making our marriages great because it's God's design, a picture of the church, and shows His glory to the world. And, as a result, godly marriage stay together and children are protected from devastation. But that alone should not be our reason to pursue intimacy in marriage. Still, as I said, the book ends up being a great go-to for questions the reader might have. At one point Williams says, "God cares about your sex life, and God wants it to be all He created it to be. And it needs to be beyond amazing, just like the Creator intended." How can you go wrong with that?

The book includes quotes from anonymous husbands which can actually help the reader understand their own man better. There are "Secret Sex Missions," should the reader choose to accept them. (Though many are simply relationship builders and communication builders and not necessarily sex-related. However, they may lead to sex.) Williams also includes a section at the end of each chapter designed to help the reader open the dialogue with her husband.

Overall, this is a good book. While the topics can be sensitive to some, the authors' good humor sprinkled throughout makes it easier on the reader.

Note: I received a copy of the book from the publisher through NetGalley for this honest review. The opinions expressed are my own.

What a wonderful book! I love that Lucille Williams approaches the topic of sex in marriage with compassion and humor. You can go to any book about sex in relationships and feel like the author is lecturing women about what happens when they have a lower sex drive. I love that this book does not come across as a lecture. Williams discusses why sex is important, how to overcome obstacles (self-esteem and past abuse included), and even looks directly at men. For the first time, I've found a book where it discusses women who have the higher sex drive in the relationship (and trust me, I've looked and looked for this!). I really appreciate this author taking a closer look at what seems to be taboo: women who want sex more than their husband. I also appreciate being able to get a closer look into the male mind in regards to sex...more than them just wanting it. Highly recommended!

I cannot express how AMAZING this book is! Lucille covers sex and relationships in an honest, loving way so that the entire book felt like a catch up with a good friend. I loved the feeling that I wasn't alone with body image issues and other topics that were incredibly sensitively covered. I would recommend this to every woman!

Truth Time. I based this book solely on the cover. I didn't even read the title or what it was about. I was hungry when I was looking for books to read, and this one had pancakes on the cover. PANCAKES! Imagine my shock when I started reading this book and found out what it was about.
This book discusses a very important concept of marriage. While it contains a wide variety (in my opinion, too many) euphemisms for sex, the one constant message is that it is vital to a healthy, happy marriage, as God intended. Every topic discussed may not apply to you, but there are sure to be topics covered that you will be glad you read.
I would recommend this book to those who have not married yet, as well as to those who have been married any length of time.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This author has a writing style that keeps you engaged and comfortable. This is an uncomfortable topic or at least it can be but the author injected humor tactfully and appropriately. I found myself chuckling and shaking my head. I love her list of alternate phrases for sex.
This book isn't only for the married, it's a great resource for the engaged or any woman thinking about marriage. Granted you won't be able to use the book to the fullest but it will be very helpful for what's coming.
The book is interactive. You don't just read. No!!!! At the end of each chapter are two "activities" to help you really use and get the most out of the book.
The are even a few chapters looking at the man's perspective. This book covers quite a few areas in 12 chapters. The tone is wonderful and makes you feel like you're having a conversation with a good friend. Laugh out loud moments included.

I was hesitant to read this simply because of the title and because I've been lazy in my marriage. This book was funny, informative, and very helpful. Williams does a job acting as a girlfriend holding your hand but also delivering blunt truths. I highly recommend this book to any couples struggling, looking to spice things up, or just simply needing a little change.

I kinda got this book by mistake. Truly! Decided to read it... Loved how the author addresses the subject of SEX within a Christian Marriage as well as touches on lots more.. Yep! SEX!!! Now I’m blushing! This will be a book I recommend or give to brides to be at their bridal shower with the recommendation to read at least Part 1! All those “True Love Waits” brides who would love to ask certain questions but would die of embarrassment... this book is for you! The book has 12 Secret Sex Missions, an Ask Him section, What he wants you to know... there is a Resource List of books and websites at the back of the book.

This would be a good book for girls with questions. You know, the ones she googles then deletes from her history? Young, newly married girls have enough struggle with everything else. This would be good advice for them.
Also sound Christian marriage advice about a difficult topic.

Easy, and informational read from a Christian author! You don't find that now and days and it was refreshing. It was funny and light hearted. It is for anyone who is about to be married, just married, or been married for a long time. The book is so relaxed its like talking to your best friend.
