Description

What do you do with all your feelings?

In Marcy’s Having All the Feels, counselor and therapist Allison Edwards explores how sometimes feeling so many feelings doesn’t feel so good at all.

Marcy wanted to be happy. Happy is all she wanted to be. But all her other feelings kept showing up—and at the worst times! There was Frustrated and Angry, Sad and Embarrassed, and even Worried and Jealous. Her feelings were there as soon as she opened her eyes each morning, and they followed her around throughout the day. Some days all these feelings just felt like a little too much and she wanted to hide!

Marcy didn’t want to feel angry or jealous. And she didn’t like feeling sad or embarrassed. Why couldn’t she be happy all the time? Then one day when Marcy’s feelings disappear, she learns that her feelings don’t have to control her, and they might even have a function.

Maybe having all the feels might not be such a bad thing. And that one discovery? Well, it changes everything!

Marcy's Having All the Feels was such a cute book! I really enjoyed the illustrations. They were vibrant and colorful. And such a fun book for kids to learn about their different feelings. It will teach them in a fun way that we all aren'g going to be happy every single moment of our life and that is perfectly ok. The author did a great job with the message of this book. I will definitely be buying it for my grandson!!

I absolutely love this book and would love to add it to my classroom SEL book selection. Allison did an amazing job of crafting story that involves all the major feelings that children go through. Even more, the end of the story allows a soft transition to discuss with children how they are feeling and the importance of validating those feelings.

I cannot express how much I loved this book! It is really hard to teach children how to deal with negative emotions, and this story really does just that. I absolutely adored the illustration style, and the way each emotion was characterized. Of course we all want to just be happy all the time, but we will always need to feel other emotions as well in order to go about our daily life. I am very excited to show this story to my children, as they are both 5 and we have been practicing ways to manage our emotions for some time now.

This is a wonderful resource for parents, teachers, counselors and school resources working with elementary and middle school students. Would also be a great resource for ELL students learning to cope with feelings, change, etc. The art is beautiful and lively and the writing is just simple enough for any age level to comprehend. Will definitely suggest this as an additional resource at our school.
