I was able to read Chloe Counting Jamaica by 3s by Suzan Johnson for free from Netgalley for providing me with an advanced ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a great read, it was a fun time reading it to my daughter. A great way to think how to count by 3s and to learn more about Jamaica at the same time.

This book was a fantastic way to incorporate math and social studies in a story format. It illustrated counting by groups of 3's while highlighting interesting facts about the island of Jamaica.
With bright colours and simple sentences, this book was an easy read, that will be able to hold your child's attention.

Chloe Counting Jamaica by 3s written by Suzan Johnson and illustrated by Tiffany Doherty would make a fine addition to any elementary school teacher's math library. There are many books about counting, but there are not too many books that focus on skip-counting, especially skip-counting by 3s. This would be perfect to share as a read aloud before introducing the concept of counting by 3s. I like that students are able to physically count the objects on the pages and that the objects are separated into equal groups because this will be helpful when discussing the math concept of equal groups. Skip-counting and equal groups are prerequisite skills to introduce the concept of multiplication. So, this makes this book a perfect math book for students in elementary school.
But wait there's more. . . this book would also be perfect to share during social studies because it also teaches geography. It gives facts about Jamaica and shows some actual pictures of Jamaica. It also includes a picture of the Jamaican flag and some Jamaican Words to Know.
Overall, I think this would be useful for elementary grade teachers. The story itself is easy to understand, The illustrations are simple and are not distracting to the concepts which are being taught. I highly recommend this to elementary school teachers and to parents of elementary school age children.

Suzan Johnson has created a delightful little book. It helps children understand counting by three's which has been confusing for my children, in a way that is fun. We learned a lot about Jamaica as well. The book is clear and well thought out. This would be helpful at home or in the classroom.

The only thing I would do to improve the book is the illustrations, They are bright and engaging, but I think they could be improved!

The publisher made this book available on Netgalley. These thoughts and opinions are my honest review.

I loved how this book blended so much together in order to tell a picturesque story about a young girl's trip to Jamaica. I would definitely use this in my classroom to help children understand the connection between multiple subjects and the world outside of school. Also, I throughly appreciated the appendices at the end of the book that included terminology as well as real photographs taken by the author to help continue learning outside of the book's pages.
