Description

From the USA Today bestselling "master of witty banter" (Entertainment Weekly) comes a hilarious and heartwarming romance about a big city doctor who never expected to find the man of her dreams in the tiny town of Matchmaker Bay.

Dr. Nora Walsh has just been dumped in spectacular fashion, making it the perfect time for a major life change. She figures taking over the medical practice in tiny Matchmaker Bay for a couple of years will help her get over her broken heart, and then she can head back to the big city. But when the first man she sees looks like a superhero god, she wonders if maybe there's something to small-town living after all.

Jake Ramsey also has a broken heart -- one he never expects to heal. He doesn't need people anyway and is content hiding out in his secluded cottage on the beach. But after helping Nora with a medical emergency, he finds himself opening up to the witty, warmhearted doctor. Soon the local matchmakers are working overtime to pair them off, and Jake begins to wonder if his campaign to get Nora to stay is for the town or because he can't bear the thought of her leaving.

Big city doctor Nora Walsh relocates to Paradise Cove after discovering her boyfriend is cheating on her, with a much younger resident. Thinking a couple years break from the massively busy ER AND dating will refresh her, Nora isn't counting on stoic, size of a mountain local Jake Ramsay to become both her best friend and eventually her lover. But they both agree, it will never be anything more.

A deeply poignant romance with a current of extreme grief running underneath it all, Paradise Cove is much more than a light beach read.

CW death of a child (in the past), pregnancy issues, on page medical descriptions

I love Jenny Holiday. I love how unapologetically Canadian she is. I love how she writes fully realized characters beyond the main 2, and how she builds worlds. I loved the shout out to my undergrad Alma Mater. Normally I’m not a fan of one particular trope used in this book, but I really felt that it was not only appropriate for the romance and the story, but also for the character development. I loved how this book dealt with grief, and all in all everything about it. Can’t wait until book 3!

I really enjoyed Mermaid Inn, but I LOVED Paradise Cove. I forgot when I started that Jake has long hair and that Nora compares him constantly to Aquaman. It just added so much fun to the story. Jake and Nora both have their own struggles with grief and insecurities and watching them learn about themselves through each other was so good. I loved going back to Moonflower Bay and hanging out with Eve and Maya. It was the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon and I am so sad that its going to be a YEAR until we get Maya and Law's book.

This series is the perfect mix of Hallmark/small town story and the steam we want in a good romance novel. Jenny Holiday, you are the best.

So cute! Totally adorable! Love it!!! It’s like a Hallmark movie in book form! Am now going back and reading book 1!

This story was freaking beautiful. The hero is grieving the loss of his child, and the book begins several years after that incident. The author does a fabulous job of portraying the healing process of grief and choosing to embrace good things after a tremendous loss. Not gonna lie, I cried multiple times. The main characters take you on a journey and it's 100% worth the ride. Their banter is perfect, their friendship is real, and the chemistry is off the charts. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would.

A sheer delight. I love Jenny's writing, and this book doesn't fail to deliver all the swoons! I may dive in for a re-read this summer on the beach!

I have a feeling NetFlix or another streaming service will be grabbing the Matchmaker Bay series for a TV show soon!
If you enjoyed the Virgin River series, you will also like Paradis Cove. Set in Canada., Matchmaker Bay is an adorable little town, that you can't help but want to move there. Nora and Jake are both gong through grief and watching how they come together and grow just touched my heart. I'm a Hallmark movie addict and this book was right up my alley.
Now I need to read the 1st book in the series - Mermaid Inn!

Paradise Cove is a fantastic continuation of Jenny Holiday’s Matchmaker Bay series. Not only do the well-drawn characters grow and change throughout the story, the town and its colorful residents continue to play a staring role.

Nora is a doctor from Toronto who left her big city emergency room job and her cheating ex boyfriend behind to give herself a fresh start. This small town on the banks of a Great Lake seems like the perfect short term solution. She’ll take a break from the stress of city life, save some money and then head back to the city in a few years.

Jake has lived in Matchmaker Bay his entire life. He married his high school sweetheart, but their marriage fell apart after the death of their young son. Now he is a friend to everyone in town and always helps when needed, but never talks about his ongoing grief.

When Nora and Jake meet, they feel a strong connection. While they are attracted to each other, they start off as friends with no intentions of going further. As their attraction grows, they decide to become friends with benefits since neither one is interested in a romantic relationship.

I loved this book. Not only was it sweet and steamy, but Jake and Nora are fully realized three dimensional characters
Their grief is realistic and heart wrenching, but surprisingly not completely depressing. I also adored how supportive the entire town is of their relationship. Everyone is shocked that Nora gets Jake to open up about his past, and she’s amazed that they all think it’s such a big deal. On top of everything else, the chemistry between these two is off the charts. It’s rare to find a book that can be both steamy and emotionally satisfying, but Paradise Cove exceeded all my expectations.

Paradise Cove was a fantastic romance. I wish Matchmaker Bay was a real location that I could visit this summer! But, I know that I will reread this book many times so I can spend more time with these amazing characters.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Lovd this series. Nora is new to town. She is the new doctor. Jake is usually not very talkative when there was a death in his family several years ago. Will nora get him to open up? Read the book to find out
