All of Us Villains

I loved this book so much. It took the Hunger Games and transformed it into something that is darker in a way because almost all of the champions have wanted to be a part of this challenge that happens once every 20 years. It took a lot of the political aspect out of it in a way as well, which allowed us to see it in a new way. The champions are the focus of the book together rather than one tribute. Even though it follows the same basis with a fight to the death, this book brings in a new light. I'm excited for book 2 to see how the Blood Veil continues and what happens next.

I loved this book! It was just as dark as I was hoping it would be, and it filled my dark soul well. The characters were intriguing nd each perspective was well written. Multiple perspectives can be tricky and sometimes the characters blend together and while the happened a bit for me in the beginning, I was able to know each character and perspective better as the book went on.
The book was well paced and the writing was smooth and easy to read. The world building was very well done and the magic system was creative and easy to follow.
I loved the dark atmosphere but I also liked the touch of light and hope so it didn't feel like drowning in darkness.
This book is perfect for everyone who is more in touch with their dark side and is a little bit wicked.
I will he recommending this book to everyone!

👍🏻 The Good: I knew from chapter 1 that this book was a five star read. The premise is stellar — think Hunger Games with old magic and monsters, and with curses and spells woven into jewelry. Magic is everywhere in this book, from daily chores to fierce battles there is a spell and a strategy for everything. The writing is impeccable, with lush descriptions and witty one liners that had be cracking up. You can’t tell that it was written by two authors as the writing flows beautifully throughout.

I am a HARSH critic of multiple POVs — they are so often disappointing. But the POVs here all have great unique voices, and each character flourishes with distinct desires, morales, and shades of villainy. They are all wickedly broken and willing to sacrifice it all — I honestly can’t pick a favourite out of the bunch! (Maybe Alistair cause I love my dark and brooding men ha)

The world building is done well and has good pacing, unlike many magic worlds that often are info-dumped onto your lap. This will clearly have at least one sequel, and the set up for what’s to come had me at the edge of my seat!

If you’re into magic, morally grey characters, and risk-it-all competitions then you need to keep this book on your radar 🙏🏻

This book was so evil but amazing! I absolutely loved the characters and where the author took the story. I loved it so much that I read it in 1 day!

This was a really dark, villious read. I have to say Alistair is probably my favorite character. I really liked how all of the kids are morally grey.

I absolutely loved this book and I will probably be purchasing my own copy once it is released. I really cannot wait for a second one.

I fell in love with all of the characters and I cheered for them and my heart broke with them as they worked their way through the plot. It's hard to say much more without giving too much away, but suffice to say, this book was fantastic! I hate where it ended, but only because I need more!

Holy Thor! This is exactly what I needed and didn't realise.
If you take Hunger Games, mix in the Addams family and allow Quentin Tarantino to direct it, you get All of us Villains.

I think I just read the newest bestseller! All of Us Villains sees seven teens from seven different families fight to the death under the Blood Veil in a contest that determines which family gets to control High Magick for the next generation! The description of this book compares it to The Hunger Games, but I would also compare it a bit to The Maze Runner as well!

There is so much to love about this book. While there are seven "Champions" in this tournament to the death, the story is told from the perspectives of four of them: the monster Alistair Lowe, the sure-fire loser Gavin Grieve, the first named Champion Isobel Mascalan, and the one who was never actually officially named Briony Thorburn. These four champions each have their own skills, their own strategies, and the own weaknesses and secrets. Throughout the story, you will find yourself rooting for each of them at different points and you will also be sure each will win in the end. The ending, no doubt, will leave you surprised and definitely wanting more!

Set for a release of November 9th from Macmillan-Tor Publishing, this book is going to be huge! Thank you for the advanced copy and I can't wait to buy a copy or two for my classroom next school year!

This book was SO GOOD. Whenever there are multiple POVs, I'm a little hesitant but each POV felt really well developed and unique; each one had a purpose and drove the story forward in some way and there wasn't one POV that felt weaker than the rest. The Hunger Games like tournament felt exciting and I was invested in seeing what would happen, especially as alliances were built and fell apart over the course of the book. I was hooked from the start and am excited to see where this oe goes.

This book is true to it's name - all of them are villains! Every time I think the characters are going to find a solution so they can be happy - bang - a plot twist happens so their plan doesn't work. I am so mad that I don't have a second book to read right now, with the way the book ended. During this book I was equally rooting and cursing every character. The bloody curse of a contest was made more interesting to read as the story was told by multiple characters. I can not wait to have this book in my hands and I will most certainly be rereading this book soon. Thank you so much for allowing me to read it - I love this book and it's characters so much!

I was a little hesitant at first reading this. The idea seemed really interesting but it felt a little slow getting to the actual tournament. I was also a little worried about how the whole magic battle was going to work. Whenever a book is compared to the Hunger Games I also feel its setting it up to fail really, and I couldn't see how the whole battle to the death would work when no one was actually touching. However, I have to say my fears were unfounded and the story was nothing like the Hunger Games, which is a good thing.

SO first off the characters. I really like them. The chapters are told from the different perspectives of the main characters or "champions" of the battle. These champions quickly evolve. Initially I didn't really know who I was supposed to be rooting for but as they develop i found myself rooting for all of them (well the main ones anyway). Alistair was officially my favourite and I really liked the development between him and Isobel. I also found myself rooting for Gavin a little and although Briony is kind of annoying, I still wanted her to succeed. The characters are not simple. There are times when they turn and you feel a bit bad for supporting them. I liked these twists as it felt real and complex.

Now the plot. Its different. Its quite complex and there is a lot going on. I think this is why the beginning felt a little slow but I see it was necessary. At first I didn't get the whole book thing but as things developed I found I enjoyed reading the little exert at the start of each chapter. I thought they were like precursors (no pun intended) of what was coming. I also liked the way the battle ground was set up, again it becomes clearer as the story develops. The idea of the book is simple - break the curse but towards the end several other elements are thrown in, such as ancient magic, revenge and the afterlife. I have to say im not a fan of Hendry and I dont really get the whole ghost thing but seeing as t ended where it did, I'm guessing this will be explained in book 2. Because yes, this ends literally mid battle. I was reading it and thinking no way are they going to get through the battle in these last few pages, and then sure enough, the book ended. There are cliff hangers and there are cliff hangers! Am i happy it ended there/ Well if book 2 was available straight away then no, id be fine, I'd just go buy book two, but if i have to wait 6 months I may well go mad.

Oh and I should mention Reid! What is with this guy? I wasn't shocked to find out what I found out but I dont get why. Is he a jaded relative? Is he a champion from long ago using some kind f anti aging spell? Is he the designer? What is this guys problem????? Also he wears too much eyeliner and seems like a cliche.

So should you read this book. YES. Will you be peeved when it ends and you have to wait to see what happens. YES. What more can I say, except I hope the authors are busy writing the next instalment.

What an absolute amazing book. I could not put this book down once I got into it. It has everything I look for in a young adult series. I would say this series is much better then several well known series as the twists are not predictable as other book series. I am so excited to find out what happens next. Leaving me at a cliffhanger has me needing the next book ASAP.

I love a Magical Fight to the Death Tournament book, but there are a lot of them out there and the good ones are hard to find.

All of Us Villains is undoubtedly one of those good ones, and easily the best I’ve read in a long time.

The premise has a handful of similarities to Hunger Games, though I prefer the magic-focused setting used here to a dystopia. The premise of this is closer to Kendare Blake’s Three Dark Crowns Series, though this is a touch less dark and has its own unique plot and magic system.

And speaking of magical systems...

While I love books that include magic, I’m almost always disappointed in the magical system and how the magic is described. But here we have a rare exception to that. The magical system isn’t anything terribly complex in this book, but it’s so, so good and very well rendered.

The characters are far better developed and more complex than the ones we typically get in books like this, giving the story some heft despite its light, action-driven tone. The setting—like the magic itself—is unique and well-crafted, and the pacing is pretty much perfect.

It’s a little frustrating the way that the book just ends abruptly mid-tournament, but it’s not as though we don’t want the series to continue (in fact, I’m already desperate for the next book) so we don’t really want all this resolved. And the last paragraph is a jaw dropper.

I LOVED this book!! It had similar vibes to Hunger Games, except it was the seven most powerful families sacrificing their children for a tournament to control high magic. The characters were all morally gray, and yet I couldn’t stop rooting for them. This book ends on such a good cliffhanger; I am so excited to read the second one when it comes out.
