Description

Virginia Heath’s Never Rescue a Rogue, the next book in the Merriwell Sisters series, is filled with whip-smart banter, swoony romance, hilarious mishaps, and twisty reveals that will make you gasp and laugh in delight.

Diana Merriwell and Giles Sinclair only tolerate one another for the sake of their nearest and dearest. Everyone believes that the two of them are meant to be together, but Diana and Giles know that their constant pithy barbs come from a shared disdain—not a hidden attraction. Diana loves the freedom of working at the newspaper too much to give it up for marriage, and Giles is happily married to his bachelor lifestyle. But they do have one thing in common—the secrets they can’t risk escaping.

When Giles’ father, the curmudgeonly Duke of Harpenden unexpectedly turns up his toes, it’s only a matter of time before someone comes crawling out of the woodwork who knows the true circumstances of his only son's birth. As the threat of blackmail becomes real, Giles must uncover the truth of his parentage first, or else he and all those who depend upon him will be ruined—and dogged bloodhound Diana is his best hope at sniffing out the truth. As Giles and Diana dive into his family’s past, the attraction that the two of them insisted wasn’t there proves impossible to ignore. Soon, the future of the Sinclair estate isn’t the only thing on the line…

The writing in these books is just so whip-smart and GOOD. I loved getting more of Giles & Diana and both of their characters are so vibrant and real. The emotions literally vibrate off the page. Despite being a regency-era novel the romance feels modern & relatable. Just *chefs kiss*

P.S. I just noticed/understood the bee’s nest on the cover and fell in love with this book all over again.

I saw someone on Instagram had read this one and liked it and it seemed right up my alley. I liked it as I definitely appreciate a strong female character in these historical romance books much more than some damsel in distress. I appreciate it when the female main character can stand on her own 2 feet and handle things. The story had a fast moving plot with some twists to keep things interesting and was able to keep my attention throughout the story. Definitely recommend if you like historical romance novels. I received a complementary copy of this book and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Such a fun read. I am loving this series and enjoyed this book even more than the first.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for making this ARC available.

I rarely pick up a historical romance, and it wasn't till Bridgerton that I'd ever consider them, but every once and a while I'm reminded why this is such a beloved trope. Never Rescue a Rogue has a lot of similarities to Bridgerton but I felt like it does everything better.

Diana and Giles have amazing banter and they flip between hating and appreciating each other so much throughout the entire book! I loved every scene together and their inner thoughts as the book goes on!

Diana has an amazing storyline for a female of her time and I throughly enjoyed seeing that play out in the background. Giles has secrets and naturally the only person who can help is Diana. There is so many twists and turns that keep you on your toes the entire time!

I want to thank St. Martin's Publishing for sharing this eARC with me. I had read and reviewed the eARC for Never Fall for Your Fiancée and fell absolutely head over heels for it so I'm grateful the sequel was shared with me. Never Rescue a Rogue improves upon its original existing universe and I had a fantastic time reading this. Never Rescue a Rogue follows the second of the Merriwell sisters, Diana, and her personal nuisance turned unlikely friend, Giles Sinclair. While everyone around them is rooting for them to end up together, the pair of them simply don't see it that way! That is, until Giles finds himself in need of Diana's top notch journalistic skills to uncover his recently deceased father's closely guarded secrets before he's blackmailed and stripped of his titles. While the two of them team up to pick his past apart, Diana and Giles can't help but consider whether their futures really are as intertwined as everyone hopes they are.

There's an abundance of clever wordplay, alliteration, witty humor, and outrageous shenanigans to make the reading experience of this book truly a delight. The characterization and progression of their blossoming romance was an exciting, tender slow burn with an incredible payoff. I adored Never Rescue a Rogue and am excited to continue returning to Virginia Heath's world in the future. I can confidently say this is one of my favorite books of the year.

Never Rescue a Rogue is the second book in The Merriwell Sisters series and is an angsty, slow-burn enemies-to-lovers romance full of meddling relatives. The chemistry between Giles and Diana is undeniable. There is so much going on in both characters’ lives, and so many secrets are about to come out. The second book of The Merriwell Sisters series is absolutely a must-read. I’m looking forward to devouring the third book.

Oh my goodness this was such a delight to read! All the stars from me.

I remember loving Diana in the first installment. She's fierce, independent, whip-smart, and zero tolerance - and even better, her quarrels with Giles in book one left me craving for more. I was so thrilled when I saw this come across my feed. It's everything I wanted in an annoyance-to-lovers romance (with all the UGH why are you around and why do I have to care about you vibes). Because oh my gosh. The tension. The TENSION.

And the high stakes. Giles is in trouble. His dukedom (and everything else) is about to be stripped away, and Diana won't stand for it, even if Giles annoys her to no end. Commence all the spy-vibes and shenanigans.

But I'll stop there because it's better if you don't know.

Either way, you'll want to pick this up! Not only is the plot SO MUCH FUN, but the writing is absolutely stellar (and hysterical). I liked book one, but this one is on another level!

Diana and Giles did not disappoint! Top notch banter and fun story. Vee is still a mystery to me, so I am looking forward to her book as well!

Thank you SMP, NetGalley, and the author for the eARC in exchange for my review.

She calls him idiot and he calls her harridan. She says he’s her fungus and he says she’s the fly in his ointment. That says it all about the funny, witty exchanges they have with each other, amidst falling in love and the mystery of his birth mother. Thoroughly enjoyable. I was laughing throughout each chapter till the end.

I received an ARC of this book and leaving my review voluntarily.

This books was absolutely charming. A not-quite-enemies to lovers, it hits the marks of the genre and the trope, without being too far in to the trope. I really loved the characters, and liked how much of this book was from the POV of Giles, the MMC. He is, like so many good romance heroes, a rogue with a heart of gold, playing at being a rake but really just being an absolute doll. And Diana, the brave stubborn protective heroine, just wanting to see justice done (and knowing that sometimes justice isn't always about the law).

This is a sequel, but I hadn't read the first one. I didn't feel like I missed anything, except perhaps more delightful story. The book also cleanly sets up for a likely 3rd book, and im very much looking forward to it.

I greatly enjoyed this very engaging second title in the Merriwell Sisters series.

The story kept my attention from the beginning and I was impressed with Ms. Heath’s writing - her story flowed, her descriptions were wonderfully visual (always appreciated by this reader), and she also beautifully captures the grief an adult child can feel after the death of a parent with whom they had a complicated relationship.

I will absolutely be reading more by this author ❤️

I received a copy of this story from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Oh Diana and Giles! This is such a brilliant tribute to who they are and how they move through the world. It really did them justice and it makes my heart happy.

This isn't the same kind of romance as in the first story. It takes more of a back seat to the mystery and intrigue. Giles has a Dirty Secret and Diana has been keeping secrets of her own. The interplay between all these is lovely and complex. It makes this one of the more interesting reads set in this era. Don't get me wrong, though - there's plenty of steaminess here, too.

Dalton is a hilarious scoundrel with a huge heart and I adored every moment of him. And Vee's character certainly grew in my estimation. She has some hidden depths to her that I cannot wait to see told. I found her a bit off-putting in the first book but here she is surprising.

I will be recommending this to everyone! I cannot wait for the next installment!

I couldn't put this book down. It was one of those you stay up late reading because need to know how it ends. I loved that both Diana and Giles were strong and independent before the love story developed. This book is clever and cunning, with just the right amount of steam and drama.

From the first paragraph, I knew this book would be a good one. I immersed myself into the book from the first chapter and I cannot say enough good things about this book! Honestly amazing! The writing is incredible and the plot is just one to die for. I am absolutely obsessed with this book. My favorite part would have to be the character development throughout the book. Character development is something I look forward to and this book did not disappoint.
