"First my feelings:
When I first started reading the book by the second chapter I was already saying yes, yes, yes! It's nice to read about someone who has gone through the same things I am currently going through now. I have a boy who has been diagnosed with Severe ADHD and Autism. He is a loving boy, but struggles in many of the areas presented in this book. This book is like having a professional in the field of ADHD at your fingertips. Like any and all questions you have and wanted to ask an expert is in this book. I love how I get practical advice and things to try because to be honest, I'm all out of ideas. ADHD is frustrating for the parents too because how do you parent someone who is medically struggling, yet the behaviors that are presented seem like ""you're just not trying"" or ""pay attention, stop jumping around"" This book gives me hope and is honestly the answer to my prayers.

While the book does mention some aspects of ADHD from a girls perspective, the book particularly aims at boys with ADHD.
The book provides evidence-based strategies for parents to help their boys with ADHD manage their symptoms and thrive. It covers a wide range of topics, from understanding ADHD to implementing behavioral interventions and fostering social-emotional development. The book is well-written and easy to understand, and it is full of practical tips and advice. I would highly recommend this book to any parent of a child with ADHD.
This will be a great resource for me to share with my families I work with as they struggle with their ADHD children and then feel guilty about how they reacted. The kids feel the same way. This will help them with emotional regulation control, their hyper behaviors and attention deficit. It will help them develop lasting social and life skills they can use at school, extracurricular activities, in the community and at church to become self-sufficient. I will be keeping this handy for frequent reference.

My grandson has ADHD so I shared a of this book with her as a resource. ADHD is not socially understood and it's very hard to find resources to help with this problem. This book has a vast amount of information about ADHD that is easily accessible to someone who may know nothing about the condition. It is not written in a way that is hard to understand with lots of medical jargon. Everything is explained. It is simple and easy to understand. Each chapter at the end gives you a recap of what you have just read. There are lots of strategies to help you implement into your routine, not only for the child but also to help the parent too. Even though this book is American based and some of it works differently in the UK, it is still worth reading. This book is a great way to get to know more about ADHD, whether you're a parent or family member who wishes to get more insight on the condition.

As a mum with a newly diagnosed 6 yr old boy who is not yet on meds books like this a super useful to gain insight on why they are how they are and what we as parents can do to help and to cope!
After going through the long process to get to the point of diagnosis and reading books like this which help to understand I also came to the conclusion that most likely at least 3 of my male siblings must have also been ADHD as children.
The Good news as adults it doesn't seem to be so much of an issue.
I will certainly take on board a lot of what the book advised and hopefully learn how to better manage my son especially when he tests our patience thoroughly.

What an amazing guide. This is much needed for parents who have children who are neuro typical. I don't myself but work in a school so know the difficulties that parents go through. This should be in every library!

A fascinating and useful book. Our twist on it is that we have two in our extended family with ADHD and one of them is Grumpy Grandad. The children are using parts of the book to "help" him ,especially with this time keeping and focus difficulties and our ADHD grandson had written a plan for him after reading parts of the book with his siblings and cousins. There is a lot of sensible coping mechanisms in this book ,written in a very accessible way.

A good introduction to ADHD in boys with lots of useful tips and tricks for parents. Some of the information was more specific to the US, but most of the suggestions are applicable wherever you live. The authors also provide additional support material, such as a behaviour tracker and detailed planner to help implement their suggestions.

As a parent of two teenage, neurodivergent children, this book is a brilliant introduction to parenting, understanding and managing the many challenges that you can face.
As well as being a parent, I work in a school with children with additional needs and found the strategies and tools very helpful both at home and in the workplace.
