When Selim mysteriously reappears in Paris, linked to the kidnapping of America's Attorney General, Logan smells his chance for revenge. Pursuing his man relentlessly, oblivious to the growing trail of destruction that he leaves in his wake, Logan delves increasingly deep into the web of lies and deceit surrounding the kidnapping. Dance with the Enemy will appeal to fans of Jack Reacher and Ben Hope. The book contains a bit of everything you would expect from an action thriller - fast-paced writing, dramatic chase scenes, deception, revenge and even a hint of romance.

Carl Logan is a special agent, rescued from life as an unruly teenager with little future and trained to become a killing machine. He has a habit of acting before thinking, which can leave disaster and dead bodies in his wake. Yet he gets the villain in the end.

The action kicks off straight away, which really drew me into the story, and I found the book hard to put down. I loved the well-developed characters, particular Logan and his interaction with his boss Mackie and FBI agent Grainger (which brought out his softer side).

I couldn't wait to read the next book - Rise with the Enemy - so read it almost straight after this one. I hope a third Carl Logan book is in the planning.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Carl Logan is a little bit damaged. His formative years were a tad dodgy and then he was "rescued" by Mackie and eventually recruited into the JIA - an "under the radar" agency that goes where others can't and does what others dare not do. We first meet him when he is recovering from a previous assignment that didn't quite go to plan and, not quite recovered, he is plunged straight into a new, high-profile case which turns out to challenge him as well as pushing some pretty personal buttons.
The story twists and turns with plenty of high-octane action scenes, never knowing what is around the corner, who to trust, where to go that is safe. Teaming up with a female FBI agent, together they follow the clues and the book takes the story to a rather thrilling conclusion with a nifty little twist that will lead on to the second of what I believe will be a trilogy.
The action is sharp and pacey, the dialogue between the characters switches easily between banter and serious and is very realistic. The characters are all very well developed and believable - some of them certainly made me (and indeed Carl) question their motives.
The writing is tight, description is not overly wordy and adds to rather than detracts from the overall story and pacing. There are quieter moments in the book, some of them quite touching, and certainly vital to understanding the characters better. This all adds to a whole host of emotions whilst reading the book which is something I personally find important.
All in all, it's a good read that draws the reader in and takes them along for one heck of a ride! Definitely reading book 2 next.

This story is exciti8ng, engrossing and entertaining. The agent works for a shadow joint force, and is unknown to most of the world. He becomes humanized after being brutally tortured, almost to death. He fights his way back to his job and learns much about himself and others as he tracks the kidnappers of the American Attorney General. The identity of the villain remains in doubt to the very end, even as the clues pile up. The writing is clear and concise. The characters are very real. The ending leaves you oh-my-God breathless.

Most definitely an action packed thriller. Very cinematic as well. Highly recommended. (Amazon reviewed).

Carl Logan is a top agent for the JIA. He has been out of action for 5 months after he was captured and tortured. Now he is brought back for an assignment. Not everyone thinks he is up to the task including Carl. The US Attorney General has been kidnapped and Carl is put on the case. He is tasked to stay under the radar which doesn't work so well for Carl. Soon the French police are after him and he has teamed up with an FBI agent, which is very much against protocol. This is the first book by Mr Sinclair. It is very well written, keeps your attention from beginning to end. Looking forward to the sequel.
