This was a lovely book about such a breathtaking national park. The reader learns the history of the park, the environmental makeup of the area and the way some of the landforms developed. There are clear, helpful photographs that accompany the text. I always recommend non-fiction juvenile books for adults, and this is a great resource for an adult who wants a brief overview of what Olympic National Park has to offer without getting too deep in the weeds. Kids will find a lot of great facts, vocabulary, and information for research or pleasure.

This was a very enjoyable book to read and I recommend it for schools, libraries, and museums or gift shops.

This is a very interesting and unique book! There aren't very many kids' books out there that are about national parks, so I really appreciate that the author decided to bring attention to something that you don't see every day. Additionally, the author covered a range of topics that are interesting and important to the bigger idea of the overall book. This book was also organized very nicely, which I really appreciated. There was an animal section, a geography section, and a "going forward" section. I definitely think that kids will be inspired to go to Olympic National Park and truly observe every little thing around them when they visit, which is awesome, so bravo for that! Lastly, the images that the creators of this book selected fit the writing perfectly and made for a well-rounded book.

I really thought this National Park book was well done. It was written well for children to read on their own or teachers/adults to read. I liked the little snippets of extra facts in the sides of the book and the real pictures.

Review to come in September (the 5th for now) on my blog/other places. I would have liked this one to be up earlier but my blog is all full until September.

I received this book from Netgalley/the publisher in exchange of an honest review.

I just LOVE books about National Parks in the US. I won't ever visit the US (unless a lot of things change) so these books are the way for me to discover those gorgeous places. Olympic National Park is one I haven't heard a lot of, the name comes across as familiar, so I am excited to explore this place!

The book is split into 9 different parts, 7 are about the history and nature, 1 is about getting active in the area, and the last is all about protecting the pacific northwest. My favourites were definitely the first 7 sections. I loved learning about this park, the natives that used to live in the area, how it became a national park, the Roosevelt Elk, various nature and geography bits and bobs. (Did you know there is a beach called Ruby Beach? Or it has some amazing sea stacks (and there is even a stretch of it that is called Point of Arches)? Or that there is both a rainforest and glaciers on the mountains? That there is a vast variety of animals including cute marmots and beavers?) It was super interesting to read and I love how the bits were all short and to the point but packed with information. Plus, I love that they added metric as well! I learned a lot about this park and I am so happy I was able to visit it through this book.

Like a lot of books for children that are non-fiction this one has a glossary. Throughout the book we see words that are in bold. I always appreciate it when a glossary is added, I don't need it, but young kids who are reading this book may need it.

I loved the mix of illustrations with gorgeous photographs.

All in all, I had fun visiting this national park through and I spotted at the end that there are more books like this, I hope that I can find them as I would love to read them! I would recommend this book to all!

Visit Olympic National Park is an incredibly informative text that would really be great for a classroom setting. I could see how this could be used as class a read aloud, mentor text, and also as a reference book for classes studying Regions of the US in Social Studies or biomes in Science.

Thank you to #RosenPublishing and #NetGalley for for providing an ARC of #VisitOlympicNationalPark for this teacher to preview!

I wanted to read this book since I will be visiting this National Park during the summer. I wanted to be able to share my experience with my students while also teaching them educational facts. This book is perfect for that. Easily accessible, very organized, lots of facts on a variety of subjects, and great illustrations.

Come on a visit to an unusual one of the US National Parks situated right on the Pacific coast!
The illustrations are simple, meaningful, colorful, clear and coordinate with the "More to Know" features. There is a glossary, websites and other references listed.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to everyone, but especially to a school, waiting room, or your local public library!
I requested and received a temporary uncorrected digital galley from Rosen Publishing Group | Enslow Publishing via NetGalley.

One of a set of six books (so far...) – this takes us to the Pacific NW, and a home to sea stacks and forests, for salamanders and bears, where mountain hiking and surfing are both available. This certainly sells the place as somewhere to love, admire and want to cherish – and as a read it's fine, really servicing the primary school audience it is aimed at. I just fear that all six as a set would be hellishly repetitive. Rated in isolation (as in, people local to the Park would be a lot more likely to buy this alone and not in a pack with the rest) this is definitely a four stars. But the six titles for the six Parks to date might not be the ideal approach...

I know that this book was written for a younger audience, but I found myself enjoying it very much. Living near Seattle, we frequently take the ferry to the Olympic Peninsula and spend a day or two poking about the Olympic National Park. It is such an incredible park, full of beautiful spots and wonderful scenery. The author does a very good job of pointing out the highlights that anyone visiting should see. From the 73 miles of Pacific Ocean coastline to the Hoh rainforest to the mountains complete with glaciers, it has it all. Gould gives a brief description of each, with some very nice photographs to illustrate the sites. She discusses the wildlife you might see, including deer, elk, bear, sea lions, whales, otters, and marmots. With the exception of the bears, I have been fortunate to observe all of them, several times. This is a very short book, I believe only 24 pages. We have found it invaluable to show to visitors when they come to visit (from Wisconsin and Maryland). It gives us a starting point to discuss with them what they want to see when visiting. It's been very helpful.
