I read and loved Gabriel’s Atonement, the first book in this series. By “the end,” it was pretty clear that the heroine’s sister Joline was looking for trouble. JOLINE’S REDEMPTION opens with a pretty good picture of exactly how much trouble the young lady found. She’s been lied to, cheated, beaten and used. The only bright spot in her life is her baby, Jamie…and someone wants to take him away. Joline’s flight into the unknown, the danger that follows her make for a riveting tale of the wages of sin. But at the end of the road, her family’s open arms, an unexpected attraction, and a yearning soul’s journey to the cross portray he redemptive power and love of Christ. Vickie McDonough’s ability to make history come alive in the pages of her books never ceases to amaze. I’m loving this series, with its peeks into the Oklahoma Land Rush events, wonderfully real characters and delicately woven Christian message. Kudos to the author for a job very well done!

This is the second book in Vickie McDonough’s Land Rush Dreams series. This is the first book by the author that I have read and even though it is part of a series, it was easily read as a “stand alone” book.
This enjoyable book finds the main character, Jo, trying to bring herself and her son out of the pit that life has handed her. Many terrible things have happened to her in her life and she finds herself “on the run” in order to be able to keep her son. Having nowhere to run, she finds herself returning to her sister’s home, even though they have had no contact for years. Will this be an answer to her problems, or will she end up having to return to her old life? Will she be able to find forgiveness from her family and ultimately from God? Will she ever find any happiness in her life?
I found it hard to put down until I had completed reading it. I received this book in return for my honest review by Barbour Publishing.

I loved this book! Joline or "Jo" as she is called is so lovable and Baron is every woman's dream come true! I did not read the first book in this series and it did not keep from understanding the storyline. I would like to find and read it now though, after reading Joline's story. Book one tells Lara's story and book three will focus on Sarah. It really was a sad time in our history when women had to be so dependent on men that, when alone, they were often forced into horrible conditions and situations. Jo finally runs back to her sister and her family for help. They are definitely glad to see her and happy to welcome her back into the fold. Who or what will be Jo's redemption? Readers will love finding out! I have often thought I would like to live in the 1800's but many things in this book make me rethink that desire. Would you want to live in this time period? If so, what would be your favorite part? What would you dislike the most? I rated this book 5 stars and highly recommend it to those who love historical fiction and Christian romance.
