This is a great story about family and culture. It's age appropriate language makes it easy for littles to understand the meaning in the story. I love the inclusion of Spanish in the dialogue. I always love reading stories about different cultures and having one my daughter can read with me is amazing. We definitely need more stories like this!

A wonderful picture book exploring culture and immersing yourself where your family comes from. This is an age appropriate book to discuss family, culture, and finding your place in it. I love how Spanish was incorporated into the dialogue and context was given in English. I definitely will recommend to my friends with young children. Additionally, the art style was beautiful and inviting!

The Same Luna Visiting Abuela in Puerto Rico by Christine Rivera Creque was such a sweet reading experience for us. I read this with my 4- and 8-year-old granddaughters, and they both really connected with Luna’s story.

They’ve been loving stories about traveling and visiting other places, so following Luna as she goes to Puerto Rico to see her abuela immediately pulled them in. What stood out most was how the book naturally weaves English and Spanish together. It gave them the chance to recognize words they already knew and pick up a few new ones without it feeling like a lesson.

The story itself is simple but meaningful—it touches on feeling a little out of place while also showing how family, love, and shared traditions bring everything back together. It’s a great introduction to culture, language, and identity in a way that’s easy for kids to understand.

Overall, this was a really gentle, heartwarming read that works well for both storytime and learning moments. Definitely one I’d recommend for families, especially if your kids are starting to explore Spanish or are curious about other cultures.

A beautifully illustrated and colorful book about a girl growing up in two cultures and how hard it can be to switch between them and the different languages. How everything can feel different, even your own family but it's the same moon, the same people and just a question of adaptation. I loved how everyone spoke Spanish but you could still understand it through context or a direct translation for it.

I really enjoyed this colorfull childrens book and the message it leaves for the kids. Also really likes how they spoken spanish through the book, which we could understand from either context or because it was directly translated. A great book to teach young kids about other cultures and/ or being multicultural and bilingual and how the moon and you are still the same, even if you are somewhere else in the world

This gorgeous book follows the story of a little girl named Luna, who is learning to embrace her heritage as she and her mum visit family on the island of Puerto Rico; a place she either hasn't been to before, or was too little to remember. With it's unfamiliar sights, sounds, language, food and everything else, it's a little overwhelming for Luna, but with the help of her beloved grandmother and namesake, she starts to feel more content and at home. This really is a sweet story, with a comforting lesson about belonging. I love the use of Spanish as well as English, as somebody with dual heritage myself I thought it was lovely and important to show the character slowly begin to adopt that part of her culture. One of my favourite things about the whole book are the illustrations, they really are so beautiful! Each time I looked at a page, I noticed something different going on in the pictures, they really are worth taking the time to look at and enjoy properly.

This is a wonderful story about home and how there is always a piece of home with us no matter where we go. I loved everything about this book: the illustrations, story, and message. I think a lot of kids will be able to relate to this book and find joy in the colorful pages.

This is a tender, joy‑filled picture book that celebrates the magic of visiting family across distance and culture.

Christine Rivera Creque captures that special mix of excitement, shyness, and instant belonging that happens when a child reconnects with their roots. The story glows with Puerto Rican warmth from Abuela’s gentle presence to the island’s colors, rhythms, and everyday beauty.

What makes the book especially lovely is how it centers connection: even when miles apart, the same moon shines on everyone. It’s a comforting, universal message wrapped in a vibrant, culturally rich setting. A perfect read for families navigating two homes, two cultures, or simply the big feelings of loving someone far away.

Super cute illustrations and I love the message of belonging. I really appreciate picture books that speak about feeling nervous or anxious, and this one is especially touching as its related to being between two cultures.

The Same Luna could help any child who lives in a different country than some of their family members. This book is informative and helps evoke the emotions children might feel when going between two cultures. This is perfect for schools, English Language Learners, and community libraries.

This is an amazing story about family and culture. It's age appropriate language makes it easy for littles to understand the meaning in the story as it explores culture and immerses you in where your family comes from and finding your place in it. I love how Spanish was incorporated into the dialogue, and context was given in English. I feel like it is a great story to teach your kids both Spanish and English, especially if you do not speak Spanish, since it brings context and is woven in. But I am also just a language nerd.
