Paige Dawson is reeling after the murder of her child and the death of her husband. Going on seems pointless; what does she have left to live for. Then she finds a gun in her house. It obviously belonged to her husband, but why did Ryan have a gun and why did he never tell her? Does it have something to do with the murder? Did Ryan know something about the killer? Suddenly, Paige has a reason to live; she must uncover the truth about what happened to both her husband and her child. Chilling

I wish to thank Net Galley and especially Jack Jordan for gifting me a copy of My Girl in exchange for an unbiased review.

This is my first read by British author Jack Jordan, and I was pleasantly surprised. This little book packs a punch! The protagonist is Paige, a 40ish year old woman who is suffering mightily since the mutilation and murder of her daughter 10 years previous and the recent suicide of her husband. I must say I was getting impatient with Paige, wanting to bop her a good one to get her to enter into some kind of therapy for her seemingly hopeless alcohol and pill addiction. Just when I had had enough of her, there was a major turn in the story that totally pulled me in hook, line, and sinker. From that point on, I was 100% engaged, anxious to see how this was going to play out.

The novel is fairly short (240 pages in paperback form); I would favor adding another 25 pages devoted to more character development though what we do get is pretty good. I also would have liked more about what drove the bad guy. Otherwise, this is a great effort by a new author. The plot is dark and compelling with lots of suspense and several clever twists to enjoy. The story is told from a couple points of view, which worked well. There are a few questions unanswered at the end, but I found that realistic in this case. Of note, this is a stand alone story; it is not a cliffhanger.

I want to give Mr. Jordan special props for doing a fabulous job in getting inside the head of a woman and mother.

If you are looking for a quick, dark, solid little psychological thriller, this book is for you. I have his first novel, Anything for Her, on my “must-read” shelf. Give this author a shot. I know I will be keeping my eye on him.

Wow what an adrenalin rush. Atmospheric and just plain creepy. A humdinger of a read. I read it all in under 2 hours. I dare not put it down. An awesome read.

A good book, full of suspense and well written. Paige, the lead character, was irritating me so much that I wanted to give her a good talking to and drag her off for some therapy! It was a good story and left me wanting just a bit more but I enjoyed the read. Thank you Net Galley for my copy. I reviewed on Goodreads.

My sincere thanks to NetGalley, JJP and Jack Jordan for providing an advanced review copy of 'My Girl' in exchange for an honest review.

'My Girl' proved to be an exceptionally enjoyable read. I devoured it overnight, in one sitting, mainly due to the fact that it was such an easy book to get into, and once I'd been sucked in, it was rather hard to stop reading.

The story moved at a quick pace and with 'My Girl', it was a case of 'just one more chapter' until I realised there were no more chapters left and that it was the early hours of the morning! Jack Jordan has done an excellent job of keeping the pace taut, and the tension flowing - I just HAD to know how this book was going to turn out. The tension didn't let up at all.

I enjoyed that character of Paige Dawson, a broken woman apparent on self destruct mode due to the losses and traumas she has suffered. At times, her self destructive behaviours were frustrating, but understandable. Ultimately she was a likeable character with great spirit and a fight in her.

This is the first Jack Jordan book that I have read, although I do have his previous novel on my TBR pile. I would recommend 'My Girl' to anyone who loves a thriller and this gets a solid 4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me. I look forward to reading more from Jack Jordan in the future.

Finished this book in 1.5 hours. Definitely not the story I anticipated (having decided on this without reading much of the blurb). What a story though. Had me gripped from start to finish.

Thanks for the Advanced copy

Paige Dawson is a tormented woman. Her 14-year-old daughter, Chloe, was murdered 10 years ago. The only thing they found of her was an arm. Paige has been grieving ever since. And now her husband has committed suicide.

Paige's life is spinning out of control. She drinks to the point of having blackouts ... and the things she does with her doctor to get narcotics is shameful and disgusting. She's existing ... but she's not living.

Her father and brother, as well as mother-in-law and father-in-law are desperate to get her help ... they are all afraid that Paige is going to wind up dead at any time.

And then strange things begin to happen. Her husband's belongings .. all of them ... disappear. Every album with her husband's picture is destroyed. There's no problem in understanding that she's angry ... but did she do these things ... or is it a result to too many pills mixed with alcohol?

She finds a gun hidden away in his desk .. as well as phone she's never seen. What was he doing with a gun? Did this have something to do with the death of their daughter? Desperate for the truth, Paige begins to unearth her husband’s secrets.

WOW! This was such an intense read. I had so many mixed emotions about Paige. I felt sympathy for her, but at the same time, I wanted to tell her to get her act together.

Then about half way through the book, there is a HUGE twist that jumped off the page and slapped me in the face. From there the action moved at the pace of a whirlwind.

This was not the first I've read of Jack Jordan ... and it certainly won't be the last.

Many thanks to the author / JJP / NetGalley who provided a digital copy in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

MY GIRL is a great suspense novel. It keeps you turning the pages in attempt to try and find out what is really going on, Some great twists and turns.

A great little thriller with an amazing twist mid way through the story that I didn't see coming. A shorter story than I'm used to reading but it was definitely a good read. The characters are well written, although at times I just wished Paige would just get her act together! I would recommend this book and look forward to reading future books by this author.

I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Holy Cow! What a sick, twisted, and incredibly written story! Unputdownable! I was floored by the twist this story took. So unexpected. I loved Paige. Such a broken woman, but you could feel and understand her pain. I rooted for her all the way to the end. This is a must read!

Thank you to Netgalley and Jack Jones himself for providing me with a copy of 'My Girl' in return for an honest review.

I was intrigued by the synopsis of this book and was not disappointed in the slightest. I am just peeved that I hadn't discovered Jack Jones sooner than this. This flawless story had me riveted from the outset. I couldn't pin down what kept me reading despite the unbelievable chain of events which lead to the desperate situation Paige finds herself in at the beginning of this story. Other reviewers have mentioned character development, which is a valid point when it comes to certain characters. However, I feel that too much prior information would have been detrimental to that amazing twist which we could never have seen coming in a million years. The twist that takes this book from being a tale of loss and despair to a screwed up story of epic proportions.

This book also manages to touch emotions. The maternal side of me really felt for the mothers in this story, desperately trying to protect their children despite the odds. The comparisons between this book and 'Room' are unfair. I found this to be a fast paced thriller while 'Room' sent me to sleep....

I am going to post this review and then go looking for something else from Jack Jones, who is quite possibly one of my newest favourite writers.

My review as posted on Goodreads:

Having just read and enjoyed Jack Jordan's first book, 'Anything for Her' I just had to read his next offering. It is not a sequel, not a prequel, but it is a frighteningly good read.

What seems to start as a relatively simple case of Paige having to deal with the death of Ryan, her husband and loss of her daughter, Chloe proves to be anything but. This is a powerful psychological thriller, which skips in time between the events of ten year ago to the present day. It is set in a rural Kent village.

During the first half of the book Paige's life is falling into a distressing mess. Those around her seem to be unable to help her turn her life around. I need to be careful not to reveal anything about the plot.

Then comes part two! This is not a story for the faint hearted. I found myself reminded of some of the more gruesome parts of Mo Hayder's books as this psychological thriller developed.

Finally part three. I like a book which builds steadily to a dramatic dénouement. This certainly falls into this category. Hence a full-blown five star rating.

I said of his first book that I really liked the fresh style of Jack Jordan's writing. I like his style for what it doesn't have as much as for what it has. There are no unnecessary descriptions of types of car, room decor or what he or she eats. This means that as a reader I can concentrate on the characters and the plot. This remains true for this book too.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book to those who enjoy psychological thrillers with the ability to shock.

My thanks to Netgalley and JJP for a copy in exchange for this honest and impartial review.

Firstly, thank you to the Jack Jordan, who asked me to read this book, approving me through Net Galley, thanks also to the publishers and Net Galley.

Firstly, I would like to say want a great potential from this great new young author.

A great talent at only 23 years old, with this his second novel.

Paige Dawson: the mother of a murdered child and wife to a dead man.

She has nothing left to live for… until she finds her husband’s handgun hidden in their house.

Why did Ryan need a gun? What did he know about their daughter’s death?

Desperate for the truth, Paige begins to unearth her husband’s secrets.

But she has no idea who she is up against, or that her life isn’t hers to gamble – she belongs to me.

A chilling, dark, shocking, frightening realistic thriller, that's grips you from the beginning.

Paige Dawson is a tormented woman. Her 14-year-old daughter, Chloe, was murdered 10 years ago. The only thing they found of her was an arm. Paige has been grieving ever since. And now her husband has committed suicide.

Spending her life drinking, what is happening to her life, why can she not remember things and why will police and friends not believe her, things are happening to her but is she guilty or is the drink affecting her more than she can believe.

Nasty shocks, chilling twists, a dark and disturbing reality that shocks you to the core.

A great quick read at 240 pages, especially for me as I read in two days, I just had to know where this book was going.

Great book and an easy four star book for me.

More to come from this author, I am sure!!

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for allowing me to read and review this book. This is why I love NetGalley - I would never have known about this author or book without it - and it would have been my loss!

What an intense psychological thriller - you won't see all the twists and turns coming, which of course makes for a great read.

Paige is drowning all her sorrows in a blurry mix of alcohol and drugs. And she has many sorrows to drown - her daughter was murdered years ago and she just found her husband dead by suicide. Her family tries to help - her dad, her brother and her in-laws - but she keeps going down her path of destruction.

To top it all off, everyone now thinks she's crazy - she keeps finding things disturbed in her home. She blames her mother-in-law and calls the police, but with no evidence, she has to wonder if she really is crazy.

That's all I'm saying because you need to just carve out some time and go along this ride!

What such a great surprise this book was, it certainly wasn't at all what I expected from the synopsis., I loved it so much that I read it in two sittings, I just couldn't put it down. Jack Jordan has joined my "must read every book he ever puts out" list.

This book is dark, bizarre, and disturbing. I was so fascinated with it that I could not put it down. Just when you think everything is going great and the main character is on the right track, the story takes a very sick, twisted, deranged turn. This happens exactly halfway through the book, which is also the point in which the narrators switch. At this point you'll blaze through it to try and figure out what is going on and what will happen in the end. The story flows well and the chapters are short. There is a lot of room for development and elaboration, but overall the book is solid. I would recommend this book for fans of psychological thrillers, but be warned that the content will not be suitable for everyone. I received this as a free ARC from JJP and Jack Jordan on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Many thanks to bestselling British author, Jack Jordan and Net Galley for providing me with a copy of his second novel, MY GIRL, the new terrifying dark psychological thriller, in exchange for an unbiased review. Having just read his debut novel, ANYTHING FOR HER, and loving it, I jumped at the chance to read this novel. WOW was I in for a treat! This is a standalone novel and not for the faint hearted.

Paige Dawson, a forty year old, protagonist is a widow after the mutilated death of her daughter, Chloe ten years ago and the death of her husband, Ryan two months ago, who committed suicide in the family home.

It was all too much grief to bear, and Paige had a heavy heart and chose pills, booze and cigarettes to make her forget. She was so heavily into this drug scene that she provided sexual favors to her family doctor in his office, for extra pills. She was slowly crashing and on the verge of total destruction. She needed to get into therapy, but this option was not on her agenda.

And then a series of unexplained acts make her look like she is going mad! Her husband's belongings disappear. All her husband's picture have been removed from the albums and frames. The cops think that she is responsible because of her out of control drinking and pills.

She is determined to figure out what is going on. She then finds a gun and old phone hidden in Ryan’s desk drawer. Why had he owned a gun?

This is a short novel, 240 pages on my Kindle, and I loved every page. At the 50% mark…I was blown away…with a major twist, and one I didn’t see coming. From then on, I frantically raced on to see how it would end. This was a brilliant method to ramp up the tension which never let up.

I recommend this book to those who enjoy psychological thrillers. One talented author to keep on the radar. Waiting patiently for his next book!

This is not a very long book, it took only 2 days to read which for me is a record!

It's a book of 2 halves really. The first half was good, but was starting to become a little tedious with Paige's drinking and medication abuse.

Then, at the end of Chapter 16 is a BIG twist and we move into the 2nd half which was such a shock and a real page turner!!

Can you say plot twist?!

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. You absolutely do not see the climax coming AT ALL. Its surprising as well as refreshing to read something that isn't predictable. i am looking forward to reading other books by this author.

Oh. My. God.

I raced through both of Jack Jordan's books about twisted relationships and betrayal in one day. I can't say anything about this book, except the barest plot bones, lest I spoil it. Paige, left reeling after her daughter's disappearance a decade ago, and her husband's suicide a little over a year ago, fears she is going mad when very strange things start happening. However, she is drunk and strung out on drugs to bury her grief that no one believes her. She moves in with her brother, Maxim, a vicar, after her house and all its contents burn to the ground in a fire possibly inadvertently set by her from a cigarette she left burning.

And then we get to Part II, and everything falls into place.

Don't read this book at night.

Jack Jordan has a remarkable imagination and a gift for the macabre. I can't begin to imagine what his third book will be like.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for making this book available to me as an ARC.

Thank you NeyGalley and Jack Jordan for the ARC. I couldn't put this book down. What a gripping story. This book is so well written and the way the story was presented was suspenseful and the tension between the characters was palpable.

I received this book as an ARC from Jjp via NetGalley. In return I will give my honest review. Wow!! 4.5 stars. This was one deranged and crazy book. Well the beginning really pulled me in and had me a little thrown off. Poor Paige has her daughter abducted and she only finds her arm so they presume her dead and then her husband kills herself and then halfway thru BAM the twist!! I wish I felt for the other characters in the book a little more but a well written book! Good summer read

This is a thriller with a difference. The story very quickly takes an unexpected turn. This book made me gasp aloud at the unpredictability. I also read Anything For Her by the same author and it too, was amazing. I can't wait for a third book from this author!

This book was creepy good. The main character can't seem to catch a break since her whole life is falling apart. This was a quick read mostly because I didn't want to put it down!

Paige is the cover girl for dysfunctional. She lives her life on pills and wine and has for the past ten years following the disappearance of her young daughter. Her husband, who could no longer cope, has killed himself shortly before the start of the novel. Paige is self destructive and doing everything she can to implode. Finally her husband's effects are taken from their house shortly followed by her daughter's. Then house burns down. Paige goes to her brother's home because she has no other place to turn. Then the real horror begins. I won't go any further into the plot because of spoilers, but promise the reader will follow each twist and turn with avidity. Thanks to Net Galley and Amazon for an ARC for an honest review.l

I'm not quite sure what to make of this book. I have to say, I was taken aback by the conclusion; I wasn't expecting it. . I'm not sure I liked the conclusion - but, do we have to like something to make it effective? Food for thought. Often the books that intrigue/hook us the best are those that aren't 'comfortable'. I guess I did enjoy it because I couldn't put it down and needed to know what happened.

This is an intelligently written book about twisted love and what it can do to a family. Paige is the mother, whose daughter Chloe has been abducted and held captive for a decade in a dark basement without a single window. During that time, Chloe suffered bondage and rape from an unknown man; he can be both tender and violent, calm and frenzied. Chloe tries to survive this ordeal by hanging on to her spirit and never giving up.

"My Girl" is a work of nearly unbearable suspense, so ask your "Significant Other" to be patient, because you'll be incommunicado for a day or two. Well-plotted tale that puts you right there with Chloe, down in that basement. The chilling truth about who abducted Chloe and why will leave you speechless.

*** This book was provided to me by the publisher and / or the author as an ARC in exchange for my honest review. ***

I read Mr Jordan's earlier book, Anything for Her and was far from impressed. Just finished My Girl and have to say Mr Jordon has greatly improved. In the beginning of the book the drinking and blackouts get a little repetitious but after the story takes off it becomes a page turner. I was given a copy to review.

WOAH, WOW. Paige, who lost her daughter and husband is going off the rails with alcohol and drugs. The beginning of the book is filled with Paiges problems, which would normally annoy me but I felt for Paige and could certainly sympathize. This book gets very intense around the halfway point...you'll know when you read it. From this point on the book pulls you in and you can't put it down. I have nothing bad to say about this one! If you're looking for a dark thriller which is fairly short, this is for you.

I really enjoyed this book. Thanks to NetGalley for a preview copy. Paige is in a really bad place. Her daughter was murdered 10 years ago, and her husband has recently taken his own life. She is addicted to alcohol and sleeping pills, and her whole life is unravelling fast. Strange things are happening in her own home - is she imagining them, or is someone trying to remove all traces of her late husband? I won't say anymore about the story as I don't want to spoil it, but this is a real page turner which I thoroughly recommend.

This was an amazing story that kept me on my toes the entire read. I didn't want to put it down. I forced myself to stop only to pick it up again a few hours later. The subjects were tough so if you have issues with abuse, murder, suicide and insect then maybe this is not for you. However, I found all issues were done right that. Each chapter left me wanting more. The ending was a little predictable but I'm glad it turned out that way. There were shocks and surprises. I didn't want to the story to end.

It's been 2 days since I finished reading My Girl by Jack Jordan and I can still feel this novel weighing on me. The story plays on repeat in my mind and I'm afraid it will be difficult to get into a next book immediately. To say that I loved the story sounds 'wrong' in some way, as it was a very disturbing and heavy story, but it really was magnificent. There is nothing too graphic in it but it's not necessary either to get the picture and imagine the threat so a fair warning, it does touch different levels of abuse and may not be a story for everyone.

The story is that of Paige who lost her daughter 10 years ago, and her husband, very recently, to suicide. With her husband gone she has lost the pedals completely, drinking herself into oblivion each day. Then strange things happen in her house. Is it her late husband's mother Greta doing this or is she doing it herself and can't remember? Everybody seems to think so. If you were thinking, like me, oh no not another The Girl On The Train scenario with the drinking and all that, rest assured, it couldn't be farther from it.

The first half of the novel lets us follow Paige around, letting us feel how lost she is, how alone she feels. The second part of this novel is much darker and deeper and it almost seems to make a clear cut with the first part. It shows what happened to her daughter Chloe on the day she disappeared, told from her daughter's point of view. One of the scenes described some time after was particularly heard-breaking to me and I could really feel Chloe's (emotional) pain.

It's not often I come across such a novel, what a story! I fell from one surprise into another, there were several unbelievable good twists that came at me and made this an amazing read. I never thought when turning those first pages that the story would turn out to be like this. The story was told so well that I can still feel it, the characters are still alive in my mind and although it had a satisfying ending, I still can't shake this unsettling feeling.

I definitely want to read more books by Jack Jordan and I can recommend this novel to readers who are not afraid to go somewhere dark and deep.

Firstly, a massive thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me a pre release copy of this book for review.

I'm really not going to go into much detail about plot lines regarding the book as all that needs to be said about it really is in the description. Save to say, a brief outline is that Paige is 42. Ten years ago her daughter, Chloe, was abducted and presumed dead and her husband, Ryan, was unable to cope and has recently taken his own life. As the book starts, we join Paige in a downward spiral of drink and drug addiction as she struggles to come to terms with how her life has panned out.

The one thing I can say about this book is WOW! It goes along at a good pace, not too fast but fast enough that you want - no HAVE - to keep reading. As Paige's state of mind, and her health in general appear to be deteriorating, you can't help but wonder what's in store for her. Indeed, at some points, things do look pretty bleek for her.

Aside from the pace of the book, the other WOW factor is the big BIG twist that you just don't see coming in the slightest. In fact I dare anybody to read this book and say "Yep - saw that coming". For the twist alone, it deserves an extra star. I really was gobsmacked.

In comparison to other novels it's quite short. But, as the old saying goes, size isn't everything and for a small book it packs a mighty punch. I would certainly not hesitate in reading other books by this author, and look forward to doing so. There are definitely worse things to spend your money on, but I promise this book would be money well spent. A 5 star review from me....only because I'm limited to 5.

I really liked this book, it was just the right length for me, and I read it really quickly,I couldn't put it down.I was intrigued as the story unfolded, and had no idea where it was going. It certainly had some surprises and I thought it was great .No spoilers but plenty to keep you guessing.

For a young author, this guy knows how to write suspense novels! From the very first page, I was engrossed in this book. You follow the main character, Paige, and her fall from grace following the death of her family. With your head shaking at her actions, you soon get the major feels for what she is going through.

Knowing that this is a suspense thriller, the author keeps you guessing about when the actual suspense is going to start, not knowing that the whole book is loaded with deception, depraved behavior, deceit, and some seriously twisted actions.

This book is loaded with twists and turns that keep you guessing and finally cheering towards the end. For a new writer, I am impressed at the depth of character, intense situations, and finesse at creating a heart pounding read.

The story was intriguing and then the twist appeared. Paige is dealing with tragedy in a negative way and is beginning to believe that she has lost it altogether. Her world shifts dramatically when the pieces begin to fall into place. I felt compelled to read to the end to see how it finished. There were a couple unanswered questions, but these are the kind that cannot be truly answered unless the 'bad guy' tells all before he finishes you off. I highly recommend this book.

I received a copy through Netgalley for an honest review.

My Girl is a fast paced thriller that just keeps on giving …and giving, even when you think there is nothing left to give!

I’m not going to say much about the plot, but it is one of those stories that makes you question how much you truly know those closest to you. You know the saying “crazy in love”, well this book gives that a whole new meaning.

This thriller is twisted and full on. Just when you think you’ve thought of everything, something else causes you to gasp and slap your hand across your mouth in surprise.

I highly recommend this to readers who enjoy fast paced thrillers and psychological thrillers.

I would like to thank the author for allowing me a copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Paige Dawson’s daughter was murdered 10 years ago and her husband has committed suicide. Now she is all alone and has turned to drugs and booze to help her cope. Then a series of strange events occur, her husband’s clothes disappear, every photo with her husband in it is destroyed. Now she has found her husband’s hand gun and a phone she has never seen before. Why did he need a gun or this phone? As she searches for the answer to questions about her husband the story takes a surprise turn. This is a great read and I would like to thank the Publisher and Net Galley for the chance to read this ARC.

"My Girl" is the second book by Jack Jordan I have had the pleasure of reading, and it will not be the last. This book was just as good as his first book.

Paige is a middle-aged mother who has been through some serious stuff in her life. Her daughter went missing 10 years ago, and all that was found of her was an arm. Just recently, her husband committed suicide in their bath tub, leaving her to face life on her own.

She is battling an alcohol and pill addiction, and will do just about anything to get those pills from her doctor. Weird things start happening around her home, home movies being played that she has no recollection of putting in the tv; photos with her husband's face are being destroyed; her husband's belongings up and disappear, and no one believes her.

Then the worst happens- the family home burns down, destroying every last remaining items she has of her daughter and husband. Paige thinks she safe staying with her brother; thinking maybe he can help her become sober and get back on track. She could have not been more wrong. Or in more danger then she ever expected.

This is a wonderful, dark, and delightful read by a very talented author. It has been a long time since I've read books this great and addicting.

This story starts out with Paige Dawson waking up on her couch from a prescription pill concoction mixed with cheap wine blackout. Her life is in shambles. Her one and only daughter was murdered years earlier and her husband committed suicide a couple months ago.

Author Jack Jordan does a phenomenal job presenting the main character. She is a middle aged woman with nothing to live for. An alcoholic, drug addicted, depressed mess who is on the verge of completely loosing it.

When I started the novel I hated Paige. She had absolutely no good qualities about her. Then, as the story progressed and mysterious things started happening to Paige I slowly began to understand her desperation mixed with sadness. I understood her need to block out the world and the few people who love her. I rooted her on as she tried her hardest to understand what happened to the two people she loved most in the world.

This is a fairly short novel. I felt the first half of this book was flawless. Character and plot development flowed and kept me intrigued. Then the character development seemed to go downhill. NO SPOILERS- it was a good read, just seemed rushed once a major plot twist occurred. I felt like the author was just rushing to get to the end. I wanted a smooth, intense, slow ride to the finale. I was also looking for a better understanding of the antagonist's motives and actions.

This book is told from a couple different character perspectives, which I enjoyed. I think it really helped to tell the overall story. It was a dark, fast, intriguing psychological thriller that I did enjoy reading. A 4-star read for me!

Thanks to Netgalley for allowing me to read and give my honest review. My Girl is due to be released on July 4, 2016 and would be perfect for a summer read!

Frightening, spine-chilling, and deeply disturbing!

This is a psychological thriller full of familial dysfunction, violence, manipulation, degradation, murder, and mayhem.

The main character, Paige, is distraught, confused, and damaged. And the supporting characters are strong, troubled, and complex. The writing is well done. And the plot is jam-packed with twists, turns and mounting suspense.

This story is definitely not for the squeamish, but if you like fast-paced, creepy page turners this is the perfect novel for you.

Thank you to NetGalley, especially JJP, for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Wow. I honestly was in awe of this book. We are introduced to Paige who has not only lost her daughter and has been mourning her for years but then her husband dies. This gal just can not catch a break on death surrounding her. So the only way she can cope is pretty much by pills and drinking she doesn't want to accept help from anyone as she just doesn't care about her life anymore. We see the downfall of what she is doing to herself and how low she is going. So when she finds a gun and a phone in her husband's office this starts her on the path of recovering from her own self inflicted abuse and finding out about her husband. Though weird things are happening and it seems she could be going crazy. Or is she? What she uncovers is more than she ever thought to and she finally finds out what happened to her daughter, though it was something she never thought about before. Will she survive? I can honestly say with this book I was in a reading frenzy to find out what was going to happen and to find the truth with Paige. It never hit me until it hit her who was behind everything. I can not wait to read more from this author he has a good way of pulling you into a story and not letting you go until the end, plus the endings leave you satisfied.

"My Girl" is one of those books that suddenly - but realistically - flips around with one major twist that I didn't at all see coming. Until that point, I found the story somewhat intriguingly depressing as alcohol abuse and the consequential actions on the part of the main character, Paige, was the dominant ingredient in the plot. The poorly thought through actions of Paige reminded me of the main character in Paula Hawkins' The Girl on the Train to whom alcohol plays a similar role. Paige has turned to alcohol to deal with multiple losses and the psychological trauma induced by this, and she is not coping well.
I'll refrain from spoiling anything for readers about to dive into "My Girl", but the book really takes off after lightning strikes the story with an "I totally didn't see that one coming, but now a lot of things suddenly makes sense" moment. From then on, the book is impossible to put away, and whatever doubts I had about finishing the book (not super long to start with) evaporated like alcohol at a college party.
If Jack Jordan had managed to make the story leading up to the aforementioned twist a little less depressing and the plot a little more fast-paced (perhaps even dropping ever so subtle hints at the twist (maybe there are there, and I just missed them?!)), I would have loved this book even more (besides the fact that a lot of despicable things are part of the plot). I will definitely check out Jordan's other novel (Anything for her) and whatever he writes in the future. Fans of e.g. Paula Hawkins and M.J. Arlidge should definitely try "My Girl" - they will not be disappointed (if they last until the twist!).

I did not know much about the book when I started to read. And I am glad about that. This is one of those books you should not know too much about. Than you can be surprised as I was. I was wondering for the first half where the story is leading to. But I did not expect that.

Paige lost her daughter 10 years ago. Chloe was killed but the crime left unsolved. Since then Paige became an alcoholic and addicted to pills. Her husband took his life a few weeks ago. Now there is nothing for Paige left to live for or to try to stay sober. She is a mess, does not eat, drinks all the time and gives sexual favors to her doctor to get more pills. She even got in trouble with the police. So nobody believes her, when she noticed some strange things going on in her house while she is knocked out from drinking.

Just let me tell you that the story turns out to be different than you might expect. The book is not very long. It is not dragged out in an unnecessary way just to make more pages. I liked it that way. It is hard to read about Paige’s self-destructing addiction but you can feel her pain and her grief and how it is to be an addict. It is a dark book and definitively not a nice read. It kept me guessing what’s going on and I was quite surprised. I did not expect that. And I liked to be surprised. I will read Mr Jordans other book very soon. I liked his unique style.

Great book. Read it in a day as couldn't put it down. Paige is struggling to cope with her grief but then strange things start to happen and I won't tell you anymore as you should read it for yourself and find out what happens. Twists and turns I just didn't expect. I look forward to reading more from Jack Jordan.

ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

WHOA was this an intense and crazy read! Why haven't I heard about this author before? The writing in this one was AMAZING. I was sucked in from page one and I didn't stop until I turned the last page.

That said, I did have one tiny issue. This book was simply too short. I read it in under two hours. The pacing was good at first, it was a nice build up, some good mystery, then BAM we are off to the races and flying at ninety miles an hour. I loved the first half and I loved the second half. What this book needed to be a perfect 5 star read for me was a better transition between the two halves.

That said, I would definitely recommend this book to Psychological Thriller lovers, and I will for sure be keeping my eye out for more from this author.

Let me start off by saying I’m not one to gush. Fair warning, this will be a very gushy review.

I started this book last night with no intention of finishing it in one sitting. I was simply trying to unwind for the night and read just a few chapters. Well, joke is on me because I completely devoured this book in less than two hours!

Paige is such a tragedy. She’s like a train wreck that you can’t possibly tear your eyes away from. She is so damaged and broken that it’s heartbreaking. She is at the very end of her rope and is clinging onto what’s left of her sanity for dear life. And who could possibly blame her? She’s been dealt some devastating and unimaginable blows that would break even the strongest of people.

I really want to talk about this book in depth, but alas I would spoil it for everyone. Let’s just say that it is shocking, twisted and addicting. One of the twists blew my mind. I actually had to pause from reading and let what just happened sink in. I even said, no effing way! out loud. This book has a secure spot on my must read least for this year.

Keep in mind, this novel is not for the faint of heart. It’s very dark and terrifying in so many ways, but Jordan is one hell of a storyteller and his writing is compelling and totally drew me in.

I really enjoyed this eBook. The storyline held my attention, and without giving away any spoilers, I'll just say that I LOVED the plot twist at the end of part one!! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read the book in advance.

Woo-hee, this book had me! I mean goodness gracious; I loved every minute of it! I loved the way the author had the story come back around and I was I seeing the story from a different angle. This novel had a terrific storyline, I mean it was fabulous!!! (Excuse all my exclamation points). I was squirming in my seat as I was reading, my emotions were all over the place and I can’t tell you how many times I was talking to my Kindle. I had a variety of expression for this novel, whether it was, “No, frickin’ way!” “What!?!” or “You have got to be kidding me.” This is a definitely a hairdryer novel.

This is my second Jack Jordan novels but this is my favorite so far. I will definitely be looking into his other novels as I wonder, what has he been hiding from me? This novel is definitely top-notch in my world.

I was first introduced to Paige, a 42 year-old widow who is drinking her life away since they discovered her daughter’s arm floating in a river ten years ago. Her husband committed suicide a few months ago and now Paige handles each day with a few bottles in her hand. Her mother-in-law checks in on her but otherwise Paige’s life is going downhill. Paige loses whole segments of time when she drinks but when events begin to occur in her life that she has no recognition of doing, Paige begins to think that someone is harassing her. While clearing out her husband’s files, she comes across items that are atypical for her husband. The PI from her daughter’s case fifteen years ago blames Paige’s drinking on these strange events that are occurring in her life but Paige knows that she is not the cause and feels that someone is behind it. As Paige begins her own investigation, I am on edge as I know things are going to get exciting quick. Paige honey, those bottles of booze were safer than what you are about to walk into. Paige investigation gets dark and vile as she meets a man who is so twisted, I mean he was past insane. I loved this book as I wanted something maddening, something that I could shake my head at and it delivered.

I received a copy of this novel from NetGalley and JJP in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! Not knowing much about this book, I really enjoyed it. Without mentioning any spoilers, I was half way through and then bang, I felt like I got a slap in the face (in a good way), the story took me somewhere I was not expecting. Initially I didn't really like the main character Paige, but having completed the story could fully understand why she was acting like she was in the first part. She proved to be a good, strong character. The only criticism I have was I felt like the second part of the book was rushed. Overall though, I couldn't put it down, read it in one sitting! To me that proves it was a good, well written story.
I would definitely recommend it.
Thank you Jack Jordan for allowing me to read it!

A great, but strange thriller.

I really enjoyed My Girl and found myself sucked into the book from the first chapter.

The story follows Paige, a mother whose daughter was taken ten years earlier and her body never found and whose husband has recently taken his own life. She is alone and slowly drinking herself to death on a path of self destruction.

Whilst sorting out her husband' things she comes across a gun. Paige is desperate to find out the truth.

This book has quite a few twists and turns and although I found Paige slightly annoying for the first part of the book you can't help but keep reading to find out what happens. The rest of the book picks up pace and you are compelled to keep reading to find out the conclusion.

A great read!

Thank you to NetGalley and JJP for the chance to review.

A stunning read. Paige lost her daughter 10 years ago when they think she was abducted and murdered. “Think” as only her arm has been found- no body. The police ceased their investigation as there were no other traces. Her husband recently committed suicide and Paige is struggling to come to terms with it all.
One day finally going through his things she finds a gun. Why on earth would he want such a thing? There is also an ancient phone to which messages to only one number have been sent and received.
A psychological thriller with that inevitable twist that you don’t see coming. Short chapters to keep you enticed. This isn’t a long book but it packs enough between the pages to keep you enthralled. Highly recommended.

This is my next favorite author! This read has everything I love is a great book. Drama, terror, horror, darkness, roller coaster rides, realistic characters, and endings that leave you reeling and wanting to read the next book. I absolutely enjoyed everything about it. I can honestly say that having read a ginormous magnitude of books, I can pretty much determine the ending early in the read. This one was exactly the opposite!!! My mouth dropped open in surprise so many times, I thought I'd come unhinged!! Read this book, People. It was super everything!!! 5 Stars

Paige lost her daughter Chloe at the tender age of 14. All the police were able to find of her was her arm floating in the river. Paul Paige's husband committed suicide shortly after not being able to deal with Chloe's death and his wife's pain. Paige has started drinking and mixing with pills as she is unable to deal with her pain. She has nothing to live for and her life is spiraling down hill. That is until she finds her husbands gun. Why did Paul have a gun hidden in his office. Did he discover something of Chloe's death? Paige sets out to learn why and unearths a horrific secret.

This is a fast paced book. Once I started I had to finish. Jack Jordan did not disappoint me! I didn't have a clue it would end the way it did. This is the first book I've read by Jack Jordan and won't be the last!!! He's the bomb diggety!!!

I would like to start by thanking NetGalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book ahead of the publishing date, in exchange for my honest review.

This is the first book I've read by Jack Jordan and I am planning on reading every other book he now releases.

Normally I would expect to be mildly intrigued by the end of chapter 1 and hooked by the end of chapter 2. I was hooked on My Girl by the end of the first paragraph. What a way to open the book!

I won't write ANY details of the actual content of the book as it would be much better for a reader to go in blind (so to speak). So I will try to give as much feedback without detailing the events.

Jack Jordan has somehow managed to get inside of a mothers head, and committed her thoughts to the page. I felt her love, her sorrow and her deep grief throughout the book and in places it moved me to tears and prompted me to go up to my sleeping daughter and give her a kiss. The pain he has managed to capture and hold is so real and it almost radiates from the pages of the book as you are reading. That is the main thing I will be taking from the book because it hit me so hard throughout.

The storyline is dramatic, dark, twisted, and pulls the reader in instantly - and doesn't let go until the very end. I read the book in 2 sittings - and that was only because I absolutely HAD to sleep. I really struggled to put it down and it was almost my first thought on waking.

I thought that the character development was spot on for the story that was being told. It is not completely wrapped up in a neat package afterwards, where you suddenly know all of the answers to all of your questions about the motivation each character had (the husband left me with questions), but that is right. It's the right thing to do. The leading lady would not have had her questions answered. The events that have already occurred when you open the book, and those that unfold as you read are not scenarios that can ever be fully explained. And it's better that they aren't.

I saw a quote on Facebook a few days ago that I feel relates very much to how I felt about this book:

"That moment when you finish a book, look around, and realise that everyone is jut carrying on with their lives... As though you didn't just experience emotional trauma at the hands of a paperback."

Read this book. You'll understand.

Paige Dawson is a broken woman self-destructing on booze, cigarettes, and pills. She lost her teenage daughter 10 years ago. Her arm the only thing that has ever been found. Now her husband has committed suicide. Then strange things occur. Simply a consequence of Paige's downward spiral? The police certainly think so.
I previously devoured Anything for Her by Jack Jordan so I was really looking forward to My Girl, and I wasn't disappointed. I read this in one sitting which, at 240 pages, wasn't that difficult. But it pulled me in from page one and was so intense with its taut pacing and writing there was little point in putting it down. And, of course, then there was THAT twist about halfway through! I had not expected the plot to go in that particular direction.
At the end, I was left with a couple of questions that I would have liked answered, but that didn't distract from my enjoyment of this dark, disturbing and utterly gripping psychological thriller.
Jack Jordan knows how to keep readers glued to the pages and I'm really impressed by his ability to get inside the mind of damaged but ultimately strong women/mothers in a convincing manner. He achieved this in Anything for Her and did it again here. This young, new author has huge potential and is definitely one to watch out for in the future.
Many thanks for my ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an unbiased review.

Another homerun for Jack Jordan. I started this book immediately after finishing "Anything for Her" and I am glad I did. This writer has a way of making you hate and empathize with a character at the same time. Spiraling down fast after the loss of her daughter and her husband, Paige is a woman that you loathe with one sentence, then empathize with the next. She just can't seem to get it together. Her patient brother and father stick by her, both with reasons of their own. Paige wonders why bad things keep happening to her...the answer will shock you. This is another must read!!!.

Wow this had me to the very last page and I never saw it coming...will not give away all the details but it was sad to the point of horrifying to realize what took place ~ a huge page turner that didn't want to put down..great job!

Paige has lost her daughter 10 years ago, lost her husband 2 months ago, is addicted to pills and alcohol. Weird things start happening she doesn't understand and brother Maxim is always there to help...or is he? My Girl grabbed me from page one right to the end. Great thriller!

An excellent tension packed book that kept me turning the pages. Paige is a grieving mother who lost her child and husband too. When she finds a gun , she doesnt understand why her husband had it..from then on it becomes a roller coaster ride. once again the author has proved himself to be a good suspense writer.. Must read

A big 5 stars from me.

Paige Dawson is the mother of a 14 year old daughter Chloe who went missing 10 years ago.Her husband Rick commits suicide and Page drinks all the time to drown out the vision of Rick dead in the tub and Chloe going missing suffering blackouts where she doesn't know where she has been or what she had been doing, strange things start to happen she is sure these things have not been done by her but have they?
In Ricks desk she finds a gun (why would he needs a gun) what was going on with her husband plus a phone she has never seen before.
Paige wants to find out what was going on with Rick before he died did he have something to do with there daughter going missing only the arm of her daughter was ever found.
Half way through the book there is a major twist and I raced to the end to see how the story was going to end.

Thank you to the Author Netgalley and the publisher for a chance to review this book.

First of all, let me begin by thanking, Jack Jordan via Netgalley, for providing me with a digital copy of, "My Girl." This was given to me in return for an honest & unbiased review. The story begins with the sad life of Paige Dawson. She has drowned herself into oblivion with pills & alcohol following the murder of her 14 year old daughter, ten years ago. Her only closure was the finding of her daughters arm. She has been grieving her daughters loss for a long time. Don't judge her... Everyone grieves to the beat of their own drum. Just when you think her existence couldn't get worse... Boom! Her husband commits suicide. Her family watches her spiraling downward. Strange things begin to take place... One being a gun she finds hidden in her husbands desk. She wonders why he owned a gym and if it was in any way connected to her daughters death. As the story begins to unfold, Paige begins to see that her husband had secrets. Will we find out what the secrets were? I suggest you read this amazing thriller & find out for yourself. You will not be disappointed. It's hard to believe this is only the authors second novel. His writing is smooth, believable and fast paced. Be sure to also read, "Anything For Her." It's his breakout novel & it too is pretty amazing.

Crazy book. It kept me guessing and I had to read it until the end. Would highly recommend but beware that it is a dark book.

Well Shit! That was a thrilling read. I read another mystery novel recently that I really enjoyed, but that one was a slow burn and My Girls is a lit match. I started this one yesterday and I just could not put it down (even though I really need to be completing my homework, which is due Sunday *sigh*). I finished just a little while ago and I feel winded! I need a moment to catch my breath...

To start in 4.o stars for My Girl. I enthusiastically loved this one! I would definitely buy this or recommend it to friends. It was just insane! I mean I was sort of following the story and beginning to have certain suspicions, but I was Waaaaaay off. I loved the twist and I will say I thought it was well done. Occasionally you get the sort of twist that is just so far fetched that you're just like what?!?! No I thought this flowed pretty well. Yes you do have to be in that world a bit to like the ending, but I personally thought it was just a really intriguing race to the end! I was hooked.

I'm not going to go in to too much detail because I do think it would be easy to get spoilery, but I enjoyed the writing and introduction to the hell that Paige is living. Then it really picked up about a quarter way in and from then on it was breakneck! The story just went in so many directions and didn't leave me feeling at all cliched.

Great story! I really loved this. Get it now.

Thank you to Netgalley for the copy to review.

Wow! My Girl left me lost for words... This book is probably one of the most twisted and disturbing thrillers I've read so far this year. I literally finished this book written by Jack Jordan in one sitting, which hasn't happened to me in a while. The fast pace, well written prose and many plot twists had me literally flying through the pages and on the edge of my seat the whole time. My Girl starts out as a 'simple' plot where we see a mother being completely destroyed by the disappearance and violent murder of her daughter and her husband's suicide. And there is no doubt that Paige has a very messed up life and is basically your typical unreliable character. Paige cannot deal with the real world and uses alcohol and prescription drugs to numb her pain; losing her grip on reality and making you wonder if the things that happen to her are just the consequence of her addictions or something more. And then... BAM! A mayor (and very disturbing) plot twist happens that will make you see the whole story in a whole new light. I can't go into details without ruining the story, but let's just say the second part makes My Girl into a truly disturbing and intense pageturner. If you enjoy reading these kind of thrillers, make sure you try out this book!

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was hooked from the first page. Character development was very well done. Story line was great. I immediately felt drawn into the story. I immediately felt empathy for Paige and everything that she had gone through. So much grief for one person.

And then boom. Right out of nowhere. This. Mind blown.

I felt like there wasn't something right about Maxim. He felt kind of off to me. But I was not expecting this. At all. There wasn't anything even leading up to this.

And then when I thought it couldn't get any worse, boom! Another huge twist!

There were a couple things that were left open at the end, a few questions I had left that went unanswered, but overall, good ending.

What a roller coaster of emotions. This was an amazingly dark psychological thriller. I enjoyed every second of it. I will definitely be reading more from this author.

Paige Dawson has a serious drinking problem…as in blackout drunk almost daily. But once you realize what she has been through it is understandable. Ten years ago her only child disappeared and only her arm was ever found and more recently she lost her husband to suicide.

Paige is self-destructing and doesn’t care one bit if she survives. She runs from therapy and pushes away everyone that still around who cares for her. Blackouts, driving drunk and sobering up in jail do nothing to slow her down. Suddenly though she starts waking up from these blackouts and things around her house are moved around or missing all together…and even though she was drunk she just knows she didn’t do it.

When Paige finds a gun and cell phone hidden inside her husband’s desk she starts wondering what is really going on and what her husband was involved in. Did he really commit suicide and did he find something out about their daughter’s disappearance?

There is not much I can say without giving away major plot points but I will tell you to read this book! Once you start reading this thriller you will not want to put it down and you will NOT believe what happens. This is definitely a thrill ride!

Jack Jordan is a really good writer and I am very interested in seeing what else he has written. I would say that there were a few times in the story that I found certain things to be a little unrealistic but I did not feel that it greatly affected the ability to enjoy the story. If you are looking for a quick, thrilling read this is one to put on your list!

Firstly, a massive thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me a review copy of this book.

I need to be careful here, that I'm not giving to much away. It's only a 166 page book, so it is a very quick read, but don't let that put you off because believe me it doesn't stop it being a bloody good read.

This though is one of those stories that grabs your attention, and you know you have to keep going, and like me you'll probably do this in one sitting.

Paige Dawson is the mother of a murdered child, and if that wasn't enough, her husband killed himself. So its understandable that her life isn't very good at the moment, well that might be an understatement. I'd actually say she's pretty well screwed up. She's a mess, Constantly drunk and addicted to prescription pills, it doesn't seem that life can get any lower.
Her mother in law has tried to help, to be honest she's now at a stage of disgust, what more can she do to help her daughter in law.
You really do find yourself feeling sorry for Paige and really rooting for her to get her act together. I felt that strongly towards this character that you'd have thought it was someone I actually know. The Author has done an amazing job with this book.
This is the first book I have read by Jack Jordan, but I'm guessing it certainly won't be the last one.
This is a really interesting read and well worth giving it a go.

Everything that could possibly go wrong has gone wrong in Paige's life. Her daughter was murdered--or so she thinks, her husband committed suicide, and she's hooked on wine and meds. Her heartache is eating her inside out, so much Paige isn't above trading sex for additional prescription drugs.

Life is passing her by and she keeps swearing to her dad and mother-in-law that she'll change. But the truth is she doesn't have the energy nor the will. It's been 10 years since her daughter's kidnapping and murder, and she's her room untouched. Paige hasn't ever let go even though the case went cold and was closed. She also won't forgive her husband for taking his own life.

She knows she needs help but she doesn't want to get it. When things begin to disappear in her house she thinks she's going crazy but then determines someone's trying to make her go nuts, the thing is she doesn't know who. She suspects it is her mother-in-law, but it turns out the person she least suspects is the culprit of the pain she's lived through the past 10 years.

Her brother has a sick obsession with her. There are things from her teen years she doesn't remember because doctors worked hard to put a block on her memory. And when she discovers her brother's deception everything comes back to her in a flash.

I think my favorite scene in this is when her house burns down. She's so messed up both emotionally and physically that her first thought is about the sex had in exchange for the pills that she lost in the fire. What a cynic! I chuckled at that.

Then a gasp escaped me when the truth about her brother is revealed. That was a major plot twist and SICKENING. How could he? How dared he?

This was a pretty good read. I don't know what I expected when I got the book, but I'm glad I got to read it.
