Great Food, Good Works A traditional trade publisher with an exciting philanthropic difference, Burgess Lea Press specializes in books of high quality from chefs, cooks, restaurants, farms and world travelers as passionate about great food and good works as we are. BLP cookbooks are handsomely designed, with distinctive colored page edges, first-rate photography and original fine art, but what makes them really special is that all the publisher’s after-tax profits on each book benefit a food-related 501c organization. Grantees benefiting from BLP books include Edible Schoolyard Project, Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture, Adelante Mujeres, the Vetri Community Partnership and Drexel University Culinary Arts and Hospitality. The Newman’s Own Foundation invited BLP to participate in its Philanthropic Enterprise Program, and FarmAid has also recognized our innovative approach to publishing fine books about food while contributing to food access, food literacy and farmland preservation.
