I really enjoyed this sampler and would like to thank NetGalley and Publishers Lunch for it! It's organized really well and includes some good samples. I mainly read young adult, so I was really excited to see the young adult section, which features some really exciting books. I'm especially excited for Sabaa Tahir's new book - All My Rage.

I LOVE the fiction excerpts. I have already requested and been approved for two books: Nora goes Off script and Remarkably Bright Creatures. I usually dont request any nonfiction but I may take a look.

Thank you for these suggestions!

I always look forward to these excerpts every year and this year did not disappoint. I came across quite a few titles I wasn’t originally interested in but now I’m hooked at excited for their release. Favorite were Finding Jupiter and By the Book. Also enjoyed and keeping an eye out for Iona Iverson’s Rules for Commuting and This Time Tomorrow. Thanks NetGalley and the Publishers for the early excerpts.

I am really enjoying this sampler! I can't wait to read upcoming authors with their debut novels! I love discovering something for myself that I fight myself whether or not I should share it with others because it's like a precious thing. Thanks to NetGalley and the Publishers for the excerpts!

I absolutely adore buzz books. What an easy and enjoyable way to learn about titles that will be coming out over the coming months. Just some of the more well-known authors included are Geraldine Brooks, Karen Jay Fowler, Jane Green, Chris Pavone, Emma Straub and Marianne Wiggins.

There is also a section for debut novels. A few intriguing sounding titles: A Tiny Upward Shove, Keya Das’s Second Act, These Impossible Things and, Calling for a Blanket Dance. Or, how about Nora Goes Off Script or Jameela Green Ruins Everything.

Non-fiction fans can also find much to read here as will those who like young adult fiction. An example of each would be Blood Orange Night (non-fiction) and How to be the Best Third Wheel (young adult).

As if that were not enough, there are book lists, lots of them. Yay! Some authors that I noted were Jennifer Egan, Julia Glass,Emily St John Mandel, Anne Tyler, Dan Chaon, Monica Ali, Marie Myung-Ok Lee, and Otessa Mosfegh.

I could go on but, really, readers should just take a look.

Many, many thanks to NetGalley and the publishers. Brilliant! All opinions are my own.

This is the absolutely best resource for up coming releases. I always take note of the recommendations and I love the section on debut authors. My to read stack just grew. Even if I don't get around to reading all of them, I can at least read a bit and know the style and plot.

Thank you to NetGalley for this amazing excerpt collection of soon-to-be-released books. This feels like winning the lottery of books! I just added more than a dozen books to my TBR list. Some of my favorite authors are releasing books this year and there are some debuts that are absolutely stunning. I need to quit my job and start reading full-time😂

Buzz Books 2022: Spring/Summer is a huge collection of excerpts from some of the most highly anticipated releases. I loved learning about new novels and reading samples. These always give me ideas for what ARCs I want to request in the coming months. Most of the samples are fiction and I especially loved the debut section. There aren't a lot of titles for nonfiction, but I'd love to see a sampler dedicated to nonfiction. Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for providing this great collection.

Thank you Publishers Lunch and NetGalley for randomly selecting me to receive this preview of spring/summer 2022 books. I have rituals involving tea and a special notebook when I read through what's coming. As a book reviews editor and a reviewer, I appreciate how the preview's introduction breaks down the Notables, Debut Fiction, Commercial Fiction, and Nonfiction (within its various subcategories). And then I appreciate the excerpts and their links to NetGalley. Bravo.

I absolutely love Buzz Books, and the Spring Summary Edition is as exceptional as always. I get so excited when a new edition comes in. I love that the Fiction is broken into different groups and it’s easy to check out all the new books and authors. There is also a Non Fiction section that I really appreciate since it lists so many different types of Non Fiction to review. There has been so much happening globally and locally that I like to read many of these books.

So, my TBR list grew a lot more, but I’m not complaining at all. Then there are excerpts of great Fiction, Non Fiction, and Young Adult Books that I was directly able to link with a NetGalley Request. Hope I get to read many of these fascinating books.

Buzz Books is just the easiest and best way to find the newest authors, books, stories, journalism. I spend hours checking out all the books, but later come back to this edition to look for books all through the Spring and Summer.

This will definitely keep me happy for many months.

Thank you NetGalley and Publishers Lunch for granting a copy of this fantastic guide to new stories.

Why do I do this to myself?? This book noting what books are publishing by genre and citing publishers and release dates is incredible. I read several favorite authors who have new books coming this year and audibly gasp with excitement!! It’s reminds me of my good ol’ childhood days when the holiday Sears Catalogue came in the mail and I would sit and circle and circle and circle toy after toy. Fast forward 40 years and same thing - circling books. It’s just the best. Thanks for the copy. I look forward to this so much!

This was the fifth Buzz Books that I’ve read since 2019; however, I missed both 2021 editions so I was a little nervous that the format may have changed. Fortunately, the only thing that changed was that the Kindle edition didn’t have page numbers. Otherwise the book was comprised of a list of books to be published from roughly March 2022 through August 2022, which was followed by hours of excerpts from select books on the list. In total, this edition was estimated at five and a quarter hours reading time.

In the lists of books, I found several fiction books to look up in Goodreads for further details. First was the new Geraldine Brooks novel, Horse, which appealed to me because I love Geraldine Brooks as a writer. A Coin for the Ferryman by Meghan Edwards was another, as I had been on and off with the description of this book in NetGalley. Book Lovers by Emily Henry was already on my to be read list because I had also seen it on NetGalley, although I do disagree with its classification as commercial fiction rather than romance. I looked up The Seamstress of New Orleans by Diane McPhail because I am always intrigued by New Orleans as a book setting. Finally, I looked up the latest Alison Weir, but decided against adding it to my to be read list because I still have an outstanding galley of hers to review. None of the nonfiction books listed really piqued my interest, which only means that there were no authors or titles that really excited me.

The book excerpts were divided into four categories: fiction, debut, nonfiction, young adult.
Over five hours of excerpts and related material seemed like a lot to handle, so I read the introductory material to each excerpt then chose only a few intriguing excerpts to read. I started to read the excerpt for The Lost Book of Eleanor Dare by Kimberley Brock, but decided that the tone wasn’t right for me. Fortunately, the Geraldine Brooks novel that I immediately added to my to be read pile was the next excerpt. Reading that was enough to confirm my interest in reading the entire book. I was intrigued by the introduction for The Secret Life of Albert Entwistle by Matt Cain, so I read the excerpt for that and liked its quirkiness enough to add it to my to be read list. Same with Cult Classic by Sloane Crosley. After I read the excerpt for A Coin for the Ferryman I decided that I didn’t want to read it because the writing style didn’t agree with me. The excerpt for The Seamstress of New Orleans was fairly bland, but I decided to keep it on my to be read list because the introduction to the excerpt promised more intrigue to come. I liked the bright yellow and fuchsia cover for Iona Iverson’s Rules for Commuting, so I spent ten minutes reading that excerpt as well. It was a good investment of my time, so I added that to my to be read list. The introduction to the excerpt from the new book by Adriana Trigiani sounded great, but the writing was denser than I was in the mood to read. Unfortunately, none of the excerpts in the debut section were able to hold my attention long enough to be added to my to be read pile. The few nonfiction offerings in the volume also did not appeal to my personal preferences. Finally, since I don’t read young adult books, I skipped over that section entirely.

All said and done, over the course of a day’s skimming, reading, and careful consideration, I found five fiction books that I was excited about adding to my to be read pile. I know at least three of them - Albert Entwistle, Iona Iverson, Cult Classic - would have never found their way onto my radar otherwise. Of course, I did request advance reader copies for all of them through NetGalley, so I eagerly await learning which (if any) I get approved for.

I received this edition of Buzz Books as a digital advance reader copy provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion.

Buzz Books is always a great resource. Picking books from Netgalley can be a gamble. Buzz Books gives a variety of genres and allows a little peak to let me know if I really want to request that book. I am often surprised. One I thought I'd love is not quite my style while one I didn't think I'd like draws me right in. I had to go right into the search bar and find the books I can't wait to finish.

I always look forward to seeing the Buzz Books for the coming season. This one is full of interesting reads and NetGalley makes it easy to request the ones I am interested in reading. Now, I'm off to add more future reading to my TBR list!

I know a lot of readers seem to dislike excerpts, but I am not one of them. I look forward to these editions every year, and I have yet to find less than a dozen books to add to my TBR. If I am in decent shape with my NetGalley shelf, I am able to request additional books, right at the end of each book. Besides the many excerpts, this is also a very comprehensive guide to books that will be published in the spring and summer. Did I mention that I narrowed my choices down to just twelve books? Why so low you might ask. Well, I have been fortunate enough to already read some of these terrific books.
If you enjoy reading a bit more than a book description, Buzz Books can't be beaten!

There's a lot of wonderful reading in Buzz Books 2022: Spring/Summer, but for me the real standout is Geraldine Brooks' Horse, which takes on issues of race as it recounts the story of a 19th Century equestrian painting. i can't wait for the publication date!

These samplers are so invaluable! There are a few books on it that I’ve heard of and several that were completely unknown. I added a few to my watch list for when they come out! I also read a few where I’d heard of the author but hadn’t read anything from them (ex. Sabaa Tahir), and now I have an idea of whether their writing is my cup of tea or not.

Thanks for making this available!

All my rage by Sabaa Tahir
Finding Jupiter by Kelis Rowe
Horse by Geraldine Brooks
Booth by Karen Joy Fowler
The Last White Man by Mohsin Hamid
Ordinary Monsters by J.M. Miro

And the one that I am most excited about (and hope to be approved for) is

I look forward to the Buzz Books every year, and 2022's seems to have somehow gotten even larger, even more full of tantalising snippets of the best of the upcoming titles of the spring and summer of the year.

I work as a book reviewer and contribute to a major news outlet, and have found the Buzz Books 2022 Spring/Summer catalogue to be an invaluable resource, and one that I will continue to refer back to again and again over the coming months as I put my columns and articles together.

I'm still in awe of how much attention to detail and how many excerpts are included in the catalogue. I'm not sure if this has been available for prior seasons, but it's my first time accessing, and it's just incredible.

If I had an very large TBR pile before gaining access to this fantastic resource, then you should see it now. I have enough books to keep me going for the next two years at least, and to think this is just Spring/Summer. It amazes me.

I've also found this to be an inspirational asset for pitching themed articles to publications, so I'm thankful for that, since it'll help me with getting more work published.

I'm incredibly grateful to Publishers Lunch and NetGalley for access.

This is a great way to preview books - a chapter or so of each anticipated book is shared - the range is lovely and diverse - something for everyone. While I didn’t end up going past a couple of paragraphs of a few of the samples based on my reading preference, I appreciated the opportunity to sample. There were some good ones and debut authors as well - always great to see new writers being published. A few I’m eager to check out are - Afterlives by Abdulrazak Gurnah, The Last White Man by Mohsin Hamid, Iona Iverson’s Rules for Commuting by Clare Pooley, Mother Ocean, Father Nation by Nishan Batsha, and Cat Brushing by Jane Campbell. Thanks to NetGalley, the authors, and the publishers for providing a much-anticipated window into 2022’s spring/summer books.

Fiction is broken down into categories such as Notables; a very long list of Debut authors; and Commercial Fiction. A whole range of non-fiction categories are included as well as several Young Adult titles.
There are so many enticing new titles and authors in the Spring/Summer edition, that although I tried to be selective, it remains to be seen whether I was successful. I've requested a number of titles already!

First introduced for the 2012 Book Expo America, the FREE digital Publishers Lunch Buzz Books has become the place for both industry professionals and book lovers in general to discover and read about the books expected to spark high demand BEFORE they are published!

What's really great is that after many selections, you have the option to follow a link and request the complete galley copy from Net Galley if you qualify as a 'professional' reader.

Check out Buzz Books on Amazon. Did I mention it's FREE!

Buzz Books is again an indispensable read to make a more informed choice on what to read and purchase this coming season. the mix of famous published authors and new and upcoming as well as the mix of genres makes it always a pleasure to read.

Although I'd seen the Buzz Books listed on NetGalley from time to time, I'd never looked at one. This volume contains first chapters or excerpts of books being released in spring or summer of this year.

What a treat! Most of them seemed to be books that I would enjoy reading. In particular, Horse (Geraldine Brooks) and Booth (Karen Joy Fowler) intrigued me. Although I've heard of these authors, I'd never before read any of their work.

The only negative is that reading this Buzz Book does require a significant time outlay. My e-reader estimated about 14 hours. I read all of them all the way through, even the three or four that just weren't my cup of tea.

It seems like a great idea to get excerpts of so many upcoming books under one cover. I'd do it again-- maybe in a few months.

Great new books coming out. Particularly looking forward to Horse, Booth, and Take My Hand. These books are all written by women, about various subjects that are important and not being shoved off as unimportant. I will be watching for their publication.

These buzz books are great for a sampling of what’s coming in the months ahead. You get a good idea of the writing style of a bunch of authors.

I LOVE Buzz Books and look forward to the new selections each season. I also happily share this out with my blog followers and in my three FaceBook book clubs, two of which are for librarians.

I do miss the YA Book Buzz from a few years ago though. These were fabulous to share with my students and get their recommendations for what they would like to see in the library. Please bring it back!

As it is, I've read all the YA selections so far, with my favorites being The Rumor Game by Dhonielle Clayton and Sabaa Tahir's All My Rage. I'm currently working on the adult selections in chronological order. I am likely to read the first entry, Babitt's First Victim.

Thank you to NetGalley and Publishers Lunch for the opportunity to read Book Buzz 2022: Spring/Summer to sneak peek upcoming books..

I have never reviewed a book like this so I am not sure what to say.other than every book excerpt leaves you wanting more. My literary tastes are all over the place so Buzz Books was perfect for me because there was a little bit of everything; historical fiction, women's fiction, YA, humor, paranormal and more. It was similar to reading a book of short stories.

Almost all of the books are still available for request. How to decide! I can't request them all (or can I?). Two books that I was interested in, Take My Hand and The Hacienda, are "wish for it" titles. I wished for The Hacienda because the description said that it was like Mexican Gothic meets Rebecca. I love both of those books and even before I finished reading the first chapter I knew I wanted to read it! I am keeping my fingers crossed....

Other titles that stand out (for me) are:

Booth
Bless Your Heart
The Seamstress of New Orleans
Two Nights in Lisbon
This Time Tomorrow

This was a lovely set of excerpts from upcoming books! I'm excited for this new book season! I look forward to reading the full version of some of these texts and seeing how the general public reviews these titles as well

I love the Buzz Books issues! I appreciate the opportunity to preview lots of titles in one place, and the excerpts help me decide which titles to request and review. From this issue, I am most excited to read Two Nights in Lisbon, Shadows of Berlin and Take My Hand.

Really excited for some of the books they previewed including Cult Classic and This Time Tomorrow. This is one of the best resources I have for highly anticipated releases and debut authors, keep it coming! I will never stop requesting this!

Every six months I am always so excited to see the release of this publication. I’m such a book junkie that once it’s in my hands, I can’t wait to power through and see what’s new and interests me. With this current release I managed to keep it down and only requested 12!! I admit however I added 20 to my TBR list that forever keeps growing. The book introductions, excerpts and convenient links to request are awesome. I’m keeping my fingers crossed and as always have lots of new titles to look forward to this summer. It’s a perfect publication, don’t change anything! Ten stars!!!

Exciting News Alert!
(or exciting-just-for-me news alert)

About – what else? – this most delightful and blissful afternoon spent leisurely – though with a palpitating heart – browsing through this Good-News-Bearer of a book. Wanting to take All Of It in, deliriously jumping from one-book-to-another, as it is reasonable to suppose that I will be doing in the coming months. Too much to be about excited about, for us Curious&Avid Readers!

Now for the sadder part: having to list some – only very-some – individual selections below, which I hope to work through, slowly but surely (fairly painful to have to choose, and therefore eliminate so many possibilities, but time doth make fools of us yet and always; and no measure of it could begin to be enough for any human being to hope to read all of the great writing out there).

FICTION (Notables-Highly Anticipated-Emerging Voices-Debuts)

Adam Langer, Cyclorama
Alexis Schaitkin, Elsewhere
Anne Tyler, French Braid
Douglas Stuart, Young Mungo
Elaine Hsieh Chou, Disorientation
Elif Batuman, Either/Or
Emily St John Mandel, Sea of Tranquility
Emma Straub, This Time Tomorrow
Francesca Giacco, Six Days in Rome
Hanna Bervoets, We Had To Remove This Post
Janelle Monáe, The Memory Librarian: And Other Stories of Dirty Computer
Jennifer Egan, The Candy House
Jo Harkin, Tell Me an Ending
Leesa Cross-Smith, Half-Blown Rose
Lidia Yuknavitch, Thrust
Ottessa Moshfegh, Lapvona
Sloane Crosley, Cult Classic
Tom Perrotta, Tracy Flick Can't Win
Tove Ditlevsen, The Trouble With Happiness: And Other Stories

(Got out of hand much?)

NON-FICTION

Azar Nafisi, Read Dangerously: The Subversive Power of Literature in Troubles Times
Elaine Castillo, How to Read Now: Essays
Max Fisher, The Chaos Machine: The Inside Story of How Social Media Rewired Our Minds and Our World

(Please do make sure to check out their lists more thoroughly. I am no non-fiction reader myself, but I could very well see that there was an interesting assortment to choose from, between Memoir, the latest in technology, Politics, and so on.)

Final Comment:
Not the healthiest of exercises if you ask me (it took so much mental energy to keep the list minimally – or laughably – contained), but something tells me I will be doing this again!

Thanks go to Net Galley and Buzz Books for allowing me access to this book. This is a thrilling project to say the least, and I look forward to browsing through the May edition (2022 Fall/Winter).

I always look forward to Buzz Books coming out! Buzz Books are a great resource for anyone who wants to know what books are on the horizon.

Buzz Books offers a list of soon-to-be-published titles along with their authors, publishers, and planned publication dates. (I love looking up those whose titles catch my eye -- and learning of new books from familiar authors!) There also are excerpts from forthcoming books; these are categorized into fiction, debut, nonfiction, and young adult. (There is a linked table of contents, so one can go directly to a particular excerpt without needing to page through.)

There are so many books I'm excited about this spring/summer, I can't even list them all here. But, I'm grateful to Buzz Books specifically for putting several of them on my radar!

Buzz Books is available free from any major e-bookstore.

This has been a very helpful guide to new releases. I like the way it is divided by genre with detailed descriptions. It makes it easy to keep and use as a guide. Thank you for such an unique resource.

Such a great way to get a taste of the buzzy new reads! If I’m not reading, I’m reading about reading and this was a perfect text to fuel my excitement for upcoming books. I wrote down lots of upcoming titles that I can’t wait to check out and the blurbs convinced me to try some reads that I wouldn’t normally pick up.

Buzz Books is divided into sections to easily navigate: Fiction, Debuts, Non-Fiction, Young Adult

I also loved that each book included an excerpt (in addition to a synopsis and other title info), perfect to grow accustomed to upcoming releases
