"Who got this much enjoyment out of a fake husband? Was she doing it wrong? Obviously, yes."
Natalie Vos might be from a venerable family of winemakers, but her life is in shambles. She messed up big time at work, and her fiancé dumped her, so she went home to California with her tail between her legs. She's been hanging out and drinking the family wine while she plots her return to investment stardom. Unfortunately, she doesn't have enough savings to make that happen on her own, the family business is struggling, and her trust fund is locked up behind archaic rules requiring that she be married and gainfully employed to access it. Her plans to rise above what happened and rub everyone's faces in it have come to an abrupt standstill. Then there's August Cates, former Navy SEAL and current terrible vintner. He and Natalie got off on the wrong foot and are now comfortably small-town enemies. August does what he can to get under the local rich girl's skin, and Natalie serves up saucy insults for his unpalatable wines.
What follows is an enemies-to-lovers marriage of convenience. Another excellent trope in play is Natalie's temporary insanity in thinking that she can get August out of her system. Our characters agree to help each other out financially, looking past their enmity to a future where August's business doesn't go under and Natalie can return to her shiny, fancy life in New York. The mixture of feelings at the beginning was hard for me to navigate. Sure, I was more than convinced the characters find each other hot, but the romance felt like it came out of nowhere, making for an awkward transition on the enemies-to-lovers scale upfront. And I never quite know what to do with an author who tries to sell me the idea that a man's enmity was a cover for love all along. Doesn't that fall into the same category as telling a young girl that the boy picking on her probably has a crush? Maybe not, but I'm not a fan of the vibes, regardless.
Once our lovers (secretly) settle into their feelings, things even out, and I had more fun. It's less about real insults and doing damage and more in the realm of a prank war with some truly ingenious schemes. I also think it's cool how you can track their growth as a couple by the tenor of their arguments, which get more communicative as they go along.
What's funny is that as the romance progresses, I swung back around to being annoyed. I'm a card-carrying romance reader, but it turns out I have a mushiness limit-- a boundary I discovered when these two blazed right past it. I'm generally a fan of men in romances who are all about their lady and letting her know that, but there's a certain level of obsession here that pushed me over the edge. Readers know their own limits, so do with that information what you will. What bothered me might be an enticement for others to pick this one up.
Beyond the romance, I had one final thing that irked me. Natalie's soulless job as a hedge fund investor is something that was never going to impress me. Though she has the expected epiphany that small-town winemaking is the legacy she's really interested in, it doesn't come because she decides the career is a tawdry practice in making the already rich richer. In fact, we're treated to some final triumphs where we see her praised for her canny investing and earn her family a good chunk in the process. The energy was too "girl boss" for me.
Here's the thing. The book is hot. I would expect nothing less from Bailey. There's an intriguing combination of tropes, I like the way August steps in to back Natalie up with her family, and we get plenty of opportunities to see the two bask in calling each other "husband" and "wife," even when the titles are supposed to be temporary. So the book checked some major boxes for me, but when it struck out, it did with flair. This particular couple just wasn't for me, but I know that the author's style suits me when other characters are in the lead. I'll still pick up her work, I'd just give this one a miss. Thanks to Avon for my copy to read and review!

Funny, flirty, and full of banter, Unfortunately Yours is a quick, entertaining romance with great chemistry between the leads. Some of the over-the-top drama might not be for everyone, but if you like enemies-to-lovers with plenty of steam, it delivers.

Tessa Bailey's writing is just not for me. It bordered on a bit cringey/cheesy for the romance scenes that I really didn't enjoy the book.

I adore Tessa Bailey. She can write no wrong in my opinion.
That being said, this book took a minute for me to get into. I wasn't sold on the characters the first 25% of the book and had to actively push myself through. And then it turned in a Tessa Bailey romance that I signed up for.
A marriage of convenience is one of my favorite tropes and it was executed so well! Both characters had development and growth on the pages, something I feel like tends to lack a little in most romances. It wasn't too spicy, the story blended together well and it was an enjoyable read.

Thank you to Tessa Bailey and NetGlley for an advanced reader copy of Unfortunately Yours in exchange for an honest review.
I loooooooove anything by Tessa Bailey and this book is no exception. The good ole “must marry before you get your inheritance” plot never fails me. The FMC in this book, Natalie, has a failed engagement, penchant for fine wine, and a plan to get her trust fund… she just needs to find someone to marry her. Meanwhile her nemesis, August, is slowly ruining the vineyard he inherited from his best friend, into the ground. He needs money to save his friends legacy, but it is proving impossible… until the sassy Natalie proposes (literally) a way to save them both!
This was a fun, lighthearted, quick read! A good palate cleanser for sure!

I will read anything that Tessa Bailey writes. This one was SO GOOD. I loved the tension between the two. Forced proximity, enemies to lovers. what more could you want?!

Honestly hurts me to ever rate a Tessa Bailey book so low, but this duology just did not do it for me. Each character came off as a teenager in an adult body, and I couldn’t get through their dialogue with each other.

This was a fun rom-com with an enemies to lovers trope that has a fake marriage attached to it. The chemistry between Natalie and August was steamy and the banter between them was so great. I just love how much of a fail August is at making wine and how offended Natalie is by that. It's just so funny and this was a fast fun read.
Thanks to Avon and Netgalley for the complimentary copy of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.

A hilarious, steamy enemies-to-lovers rom-com about a woman who proposes marriage to save her family’s vineyard. Sizzling chemistry and laugh-out-loud moments. Tessa Bailey delivers again.

This was a cute, classic Tessa Bailey rom-com. Do I want to move to Napa Valley and help someone revamp a winery now? Yes, yes I do.

Thank you Avon and NetGalley for the complimentary e-ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
In order to access her trust fund Natalie Vos needs to marry and August Cates happens to need a bank loan.
From first pages you can tell that sparks fly between two main characters and Tessa Bailey has a great banter in her stories. The books contains some spicy scenes as well as sweet ones. I enjoyed this book more than Secretly Yours, maybe because the chemistry between Natalie and August was closer or more believable to me.

This story was engaging and fast paced, and was set up beautifully by the previous story in the series. I liked the big tough military man and the scorned woman coming together in a will they wont they romance story.

This book certainly lived up to the hype.. It was touching and well-written. I can't wait to read more Tessa Bailey books!

Unfortunately Yours by Tessa Bailey is a fun, steamy romance that had me hooked from the start. The story is about a woman named Georgie who’s basically stuck with a big mess after inheriting a winery. She ends up working with this grumpy, super-hot guy named Jack who is NOT a fan of her at first. But, of course, they start to fall for each other, even though they’re both trying to fight it.
What I loved most was the banter between Georgie and Jack. Their chemistry is insane, and they have so many funny moments that made me laugh out loud. The romance is slow-burn at first, but once it gets going, it’s pretty steamy. The characters are well-developed too, so you actually care about what happens to them.
The plot isn’t super complicated, but it’s lighthearted and perfect for when you’re looking for a feel-good read. There are a few cliché moments, but honestly, it didn’t bother me.

I LOVED THIS BOOK.
It's very hard for me to come by a Tessa Bailey book that I don't enjoy, and Unfortunately Yours did not break that streak. I was hooked from start to finish. I literally finished it in a matter of hours. Truthfully I think that this is her best book since It Happened One Summer, which I think will always be my favorite book from Tessa Bailey.
The relationship between Natalie and August is so sweet and wholesome (and plenty spicy too), that I found myself in tears during several parts of the book. Seriously, every time he called her "his" I swooned. I also think that the aspects of his grief were very well done, and I was bawling like a baby when he was asking his old friend to walk him down the aisle.
My only bone to pick with this book is that I felt like they started wanting each other way too early on in the book. I was hoping for a bit more yearning on both of their parts, but by around the 30% mark it felt like they were both head over heels and they both knew it, they just wouldn't say it out loud. If there were more yearning or groveling it would be a 5 star book for sure.
Overall, I highly recommend this book AND Secretly Yours. This series has my heart, and I need the world to love these books as much as I did.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher in exchange of an honest review.

This was a fun romance, but at times the notes were a bit too cheesy for me and we veered too much into an insta love area. But, overall it was a fun read and good summer book to take to the beach.

Note: I work for the publisher. I love Tessa Bailey writing napa valley! Love this setting for her, what a fun duology.

Unfortunately Yours by Tessa Bailey is a steamy enemies-to-lovers romance that doesn’t hold back on the chemistry. Georgie is fun, sharp, and a bit sassy, while Jack is the brooding, sarcastic guy she can’t stand—at first. Their banter is hilarious, and the slow-burn romance definitely heats up. That said, the plot feels a little predictable at times, especially if you’re familiar with Bailey’s other books. The pacing can also be a bit off in places, especially in the middle. But if you're a fan of Bailey's spicy, fast-paced style, you'll likely enjoy the drama and tension between these two. It’s a fun, satisfying read

Another fun read from Tessa Bailey! Loved the chemistry and banter between the Natalie and August in this lust at first sight, enemies to lovers, marriage of convenience story.

I really wished I had enjoyed this but it was just not for me. I don't think the characters had chemistry and the story bored me a bit. I was expecting the delight of a 2000s rom com in book form and ended up disappointed with sloppy smut.
